The balcony and front bedroom views are amazing. The property has everything you could need- we loved being able to go out on ferry or train without the car - it made a lovely change. Dartmouth is lovely- we may well be back :)

  • "Lovely cottage - comfort and cleanliness outstanding."

Problem with leak from bath on last day, but these things are unavoidable and help was at hand once reported. It would have been nice just to have a little welcome pack with milk and teabags, which would be appreciated after a long journey. We stay in holiday cottages all over UK and we’re surprised this was not available at Middle Watch. We would definitely return to this property

Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased you found the property to be comfortable and spotless. Many thanks for your understanding with regards to the bath, these things do indeed happen, but we are happy to report this has now been rectified. Complementary tea, coffee and sugar are typically available in the property on arrival. On this occasion it had not been replenished in error - please accept our apologies for this oversight which has now been rectified. We do hope you had very enjoyable holiday and that we can welcome you back to Middle Watch soon. Property Owner

  • "We absolutely loved staying at Middle Watch."

For us, it went way beyond usual holiday homes and was the best place we have ever stayed in. Delightfully decorated and furnished with stunning views of the River Dart. We just loved looking out of the top window watching the ferries, boats and steam trains....wish we could have stayed another week

  • "This was the third time we have stayed at Middle Watch, and we have always enjoyed our stay !"

We came to Dartmouth this time in order to go on the Train of Lights with our young grandchildren. They loved the train and were also excited to see it steaming in to Kingswear from the lounge ! Thank you for the Christmas tree which was lit when we arrived, and for the warmth which greeted us as we entered - particularly appreciated in light of us all watching our heating bills closely . We hope to return again as we love Dartmouth !

  • "Lovely holiday home and stay."

this was our second time in this property. just a shame that on day of leaving property you are asked to strip beds and as doing so it was very apparent that the mattress protectors are not changed every time and was faced with lots of stains from other couples that had previously stayed all over the protector and not nice when you realise you had been sleeping on this during your stay! This to me is disturbing. Left a bad feeling after stripping beds as requested. House is very homely and is very well equipped otherwise.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback, we are thrilled you loved the property. We do of course inspect and change the mattress protectors regularly and can only apologise that this was not done on this occasion for your stay. This will certainly be rectified and will not be repeated. We do hope you had a lovely holiday and enjoyed all Dartmouth has to offer. Property Owner

The description was accurate especially informing us about the steps to the property. It keeps you fit. It would have been nice to use the back garden as the sun is there in the evenings

Thank you for your feedback. The back garden will be fully open again as soon as the decking area has been completed. We apologise for the inconvenience. Property Owner

  • "The beds were uncomfortable and creaked every time you moved."

The bed linen was cheap man made and itchy. The rooms were too hot especially considering the nylon affinity. We had 3 couples staying. There was one bathroom that was ok and one that was really a box toilet with electric shower - really not good enough, especially considering the price. In the sitting room there was seating for 5 and the front patio sat 4. But we were still 6. What was maddening was that last year we stayed at another of your properties that exceeded expectations. We asked you which of the properties was better. I really don't get how this house is so desirable. Finally,I suggest that it is stated in your advertising, the steepness of the stairs in the house. For those with any mobility issues, it would be a challenge

Thank you for your feedback. As agents, we source all the bedding for most of our properties. We confirm that the bedding is cotton mix (not nylon). We shall update the property details so guests are aware of the steeper stairs to the top floor of the property. We are disappointed to hear you found the beds uncomfortable as we have not had a comment of this nature in the past, however we understand that the comfort of beds is very much a personal thing. The owners will look into the squeakiness of the beds. The photos of the property on our website give an accurate view of the accommodation at Middle Watch and the size and nature of the rooms in the property are clearly visible from the photos and the descriptions so we were surprised to hear that you were disappointed with the accommodation. We do hope that in spite of these issues, you had an enjoyable stay and we hope to welcome you back to the area soon. Response from the owner. Property Owner

  • "Lovely house, well equipped, short walk to the centre."

Comfortable and clean. There was no live tv which seemed strange as we’ve never come across this before and with a baby we didn’t go out every night so live tv (for the euros) would have been good.

Response from Owners: We are sorry to hear that you were not able to get live TV working on the television during your stay. We asked the agents to check whether the live TV was working and they reported that the aerial cable had come loose at the back of the TV and that the live TV is now working perfectly. I hope this didn't impact your stay too much. Property Owner

We were a family of 6 age ranging from 8 - 70yrs. The decking was a wonderful sun trap during the day with amazing views and then when the sun went away you could enjoy the back garden which although had no views was lovely to sit in and enjoy the evening sun - should include more photos in the description. Location in Dartmouth is perfect with the steps to property not being a problem even for my parents. Will be booking for next year.

The house is so lovely and clean and fresh with views to die for, both on the decking at front and 1st and second floor bedrooms. Its now had an extra bathroom added which is super. You need to be able to walk up steps 40ish to stay here with an incline before the steps start, so bear this in mind. Parking is in Mayors car park so we arranged a tesco shop and they carried it up steps! Lovely pub 2 mins away with roof terrace. Will definitely come again in a couple of years as love the house and Dartmouth.

  • "Lovely position and the views from all floors were terrific."

It’s a house more suited to families who don’t mind sharing a bathroom however. The queue for a shower in the morning was a bit irritating with no en-suite S. I’m sure there would have been room for a shower in the downstairs extension. Lovely living space for the 6 of us.

Thank you for your lovely feedback regarding your recent stay at Middle Watch. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and the stunning views. The owners are looking to put a new shower in the downstairs extension, which should be completed ready for the summer of 2019. We do hope you choose to stay with us again. Property Owner

Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth.
