  • "Very friendly welcome from the owner, Kevin, who very kindly showed us around the property when we arrived."

The cottage is in a very convenient location, just a short walk into the town along the riverside, and had all the amenities we could want. We had a very enjoyable stay

  • "There was a problem with too many keys and the ‘front’ entrance had a gate with a key lock which was stuck with damp and by forcing it my wife fell and injured her ankle."

This is a health and safety issue. As a result of this accident the Owner allowed us round the back to the car park.

We're sorry you had the problem with the gate, we think the wood had swollen after the large amount of rain recently. We hope it didn't spoil the rest of your stay. Property Owner

  • "Clean comfortable and quirky describes the cottage."

Nice and quiet (with the possible exception of the building work opposite) with an easy walk into the village or over the bridge into Teignmouth. Hope to be back soon.

We're glad you enjoyed your visit. The construction work opposite is likely to go on for a few months, we think the noisy stage/excavations are now complete though. Property Owner

Kevin the owner welcomed us. Due to road works Kevin helped us navigate through. He also kept us informed when the electricity had to be switched off for a short time the again when it was restored. A lovely quiet house and secluded plus only a few steps to view the river. Heating worked and accommodation spotless.

  • "We've just returned from a lovely one week holiday at Ringmore House Cottage."

The location was perfect, just a couple of minutes stroll to the waters edge, and parking on site is a big bonus in Shaldon. The cottage itself was very comfortable and homely, and had everything we could need. The conservatory was great to sit in during the afternoons, and the lounge was warm and cosy in the evenings. The whole place was spotlessly clean too. Thanks Kevin and Denise for the warm welcome and for letting us stay in your delightful cottage.

  • "Beautifully furnished and decorated."

We were pleased to find there were two toilets as from the description we had not realised there was a shower room as well as the ensuite. We were also really happy to find that, although the private garden is mostly enclosed, there is a view of the countryside across the river which was very nice when it wasn't raining. The friendly robin was also a bonus. There was a smell of damp in the shower room and garden room but I assume that is due to the age of the house. A problem with the lock on the gate was quickly sorted but there are several doors that need some work so they will close properly/open easily, esp the shower room and front and back doors. Great location only a 10 minute walk to facilities (we managed it in 5 when we didn't want our chips to get cold). Friendly hosts who were available but not intrusive.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay, we think the smell of damp in the garden room was probably due to it being a very wet week when you were staying, the back wall of both the garden room and shower room are built into a soil bank, the walls are fully "tanked" (waterproofed), but with the large amount of rain that week it's possible some damp may have got through. We have a dehumidifier available if anyone has the problem in future. We'll look at the doors. Thanks for your helpful feedback. Property Owner

  • "We had a really super break here."

The cottage is perfect for a couple. We were sad to leave at the end of the week. The underfloor heating in the garden room works really well. So, the cottage is actually more spacious than perhaps it looks at first glance. Even in winter it was lovely looking out over the garden. The kitchen is well equipped with a large fridge and freezer, dishwasher, washing machine/dryer etc. It's great to have dedicated parking. It was easy to unload and load using the owners garden. Then just come in and out via the courtyard during the rest of our stay (keypad access). There is plenty of room in the entrance hall for walking boots, coats, backpacks etc. Kevin and Denise are super hosts. A couple of things decided to stop working during our stay and they were replaced/sorted out immediately. Kevin also kept us up to speed re road closures in advance of our arrival. The cottage is in a great location for visiting the Torbay area, Totnes and Dartmoor.. If you don't wan't to go further afield. It's about 10 mins max walking to the centre of Shaldon. A little further to the Ness Beach via Smugglers Tunnel. However, it's a lovely walk along the front. It's really easy to access the coast path. Plus, the Templer Way is a few minutes walk away at Ringmore. We were able walk to Coombe Cellars and back along the estuary at low tide (or further if you wish). The butchers in Shaldon is excellent and sells more than just meat. There is also a lovey bakery. The village shop is well stocked. Plus, there is also a Post Office. Catching the passenger ferry from Sheldon to Teignmouth and back is also great fun. You can send them a WhatsApp to check the timetable. All in all a really great stay!

  • "Very nicely equipped and furnished cottage."

Rooms are small and cosy but are ideal for a couple, and there is a large heated conservatory with a nice view over the owners’ garden. Doors are low, so if you are tall you’ll need to be careful not to bang your head and there are steps throughout the house that would be challenging if you have any mobility issues.

Kitchen was very well equipped, lounge was comfortable, bedroom quiet and the bed comfortable. The property was spotlessly clean. Though the bathroom had a mould smell, possibly a problem with the shower drain? As it was very clean. The secret garden was lovely though the patio furniture could do with replacing as the chairs are quite rusty. The table would be fine with a good jet wash. As I went kayaking most days the proximity to the estuary was a bonus. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Overall a great place to stay, have booked it for next year
