  • "We were very happy with the size yet homely feel of the farmhouse."

Tastefully decorated and a range of bedroom sizes. The setting was gorgeous, waking up to birdsong was delight. Would be even better in the summer. It's a shame there is only one bathroom but was fine as only 3 of us staying and there's a separate toilet. Found it tricky to get the TV working but that's possibly trying to do it at the end of the night, but we used the tv in the other living room which was fine. Great facilities, the place heated up pretty quickly when needed. Maybe some condiments extra toilet roll, washing up liquid would be useful. Plus teatowel and dishcloth. Small niggles that didn't take away from overall experience. Would love to come back.

  • "The good news; the property was clean and warm given it was mid February."

The not so good; 1. Oil fired boiler in the dining room is open and noisy with fuel smell first thing in the morning - as a minimum it should be enclosed 2. cooking pans very limited with one frying so distorted it was not useable 3 electric fire substituted for log burners (2021?) ineffective and noisy One did not work only had light effect 4 Over head lighting was very harsh with limited side/ table lights which had to be borrowed from the bedrooms 5. 2 of the 3 double beds mattresses were very uncomfortable with springs felt through the topping It was fortunate we did not have 3 adult couples staying 6. Rubbish disposal referred to a wheely bin There was none only a small single bin which was already full when we arrived Bagged rubbish was subject to fox/ rodent on 3rd day. 7 used the dryer once but did not repeat as several items were stained with what appeared to be oil On getting home could not remove marks.

Was a lovely cottage, our 3 dogs had plenty of room to roam free inside and out. We made good use of the entertainment (Pool table, darts, croquet and mini football table). Kitchen felt like home being full stocked with essentials. Would stay again.

  • "Lovely cottage in a beautiful part of Wales."

No criticisms at all. Would just point out that, if you are bringing a dog, one of the fences is low and slightly damaged plus a fox visits regularly in the evenings. There is another part of the garden that is secure though, although you cannot let you dog out of the back door straght into the garden.

  • "The plus points of this property are that it is conveniently located within reasonable travelling distance of most tourist destinations in South West Wales, the property is in a quite location and there was plenty of room in the property for our family of 5 adults because of the 2 sitting rooms/lounges and we also appreciated that there were two bedrooms which had King size beds rather than the standard Double."

However there were some property maintenance issues:- 1. The most worrying of which was the rather large hole in the drive on the boarder with the neighbouring barn/farmyard which we had to ensure we didn't drive the car into each time we exited the property. 2. In nearly every room of the house the curtains weren't properly attached to the curtain rails (this is because the plastic curtain hooks were either broken or missing) which could easily be resolved if the hooks were replaced by metal ones. 3. There were some issues in the bathroom eg the shower curtain was on a rod which was just wedged between 2 walls and was vulnerable to being dislodged every time we used the shower. The bathroom ceiling light was mouldy and the wooden skirting to the bath was rotting. 4. The cushion covers on the set of outdoor furniture under the canopy were mouldy. 5. There was an outdoor rotary dryer but no pegs (which we had to buy and have now left at the property). 6. There was a large variety kitchen utensils (including 3 corkscrews!) but no kitchen scissors, which again we bought and left for the next guests. 7. There were no recycling bins at the property, and we could not recycle locally as a permit was required to use the local household waste sites, so we ended up bringing our recycling home with us. 8. There was a carbon monoxide monitor in the living room which we only discovered by chance late in the holiday as it was behind the sofa and not plugged in - which rather defeats the object. 9. There weren't instructions for all the appliances, in particular there was nothing for the washing machine in the outhouse.

Ample space. Everything as described. Very comfortable beds. On the outskirts of St Clears which is walkable. Lots of places to visit although we tended to stick to beaches for the dogs due to the heat, but everywhere is dog friendly. Found coastal path at the end of the road which, if you’re adventurous, you could walk to Laugharne and onto Pendine. Lots of wildlife about which included Squirrels, wood peckers and a baby Fox which visited us most nights…amazingly both dogs weren’t bothered! Would definitely recommend.

  • "The house was lovely and a really good size for a family stay."

The baby facilities were good (there were even baby bowls, which was good as I'd forgotten to pack ours) and the owner seemed nice when I spoke to him. Beds were lovely and comfy and the heating system was great - we've been to a few similar houses and they've been like fridges so that was a nice surprise. There's a lovely little orchard with apple and pear trees, which would have been brilliant if we'd come earlier in the year. The kids had fun with the pool and football tables. The TV's were set up with sky and there were options for Netflix and YouTube which was great to wind down at the end of the day, as well as Scrabble and Monopoly. The guides and leaflets were really useful, and there seemed to be a lot to do if we'd stayed for a bit longer. There were a few minor downsides though, the first being the garden fence was broken so the dog escaped out onto the road and into the farm next door the first time she went out (it was a low fence anyway, so I imagine she could have jumped over if she wanted to). There was nothing in the house in the way of cleaning products, which was frustrating when we arrived on the night - no hand soap, washing up liquid, etc. There was a bottle of hand sanitizer on the table, which is obviously not ideal for regular washing or children. We've been to a few places where they've left a little welcome basket with tea bags and things like that, so maybe we've been a bit spoilt

It was spacious & the outdoor area was lovely. The furnishings were a little dated but the facilities were great overall. The games room & table tennis were used throughout the stay. The garden area again was spacious with lots of room for our two furry friends to have fun safely. One small issue .... there was no welcome pack. We came in three cars at different times. We were first to arrive & would have welcomed a cuppa as evety other time we gave stayed in a cottage this has been provided. The rest of the group did not arrive until late afternoon with our supplies. Small issue but this would not stop me recommending the property.

  • "We had a wonderful time on our stay here but I think it was mainly down to the fact we shared the cottage with friends we had not seen in a very long time."

The cottage is close in driving distance to many places of interest and does provide everything you could think of by way of home from home necessities. However, it is in need of some love and attention. The cottage has a very tired feel about it and is in need of some upkeep. Lots of cobwebs inside and out. We did not entertain the outbuildings that were pool room and football table rooms as they were very old and unkempt. Some board games would be an added bonus. I think with a few odd jobs and a repaint this could be the most amazing place to stay. The garden area was also unkempt with lots of overgrown nettles. The toddler in our party ended up with a very nasty nettle rash and the fence was down in one area of the garden meaning we could not contain the toddler or the dog.

  • "When I saw the previous reviews I was nervous I’d made a mistake, but I was blown away by the property."

The house was spotlessly clean, with not a cobweb in sight (and I looked because I hate spiders). The dining room as you enter was homely and a great place to eat and chat at the end of the day. The kitchen was beautiful, very well resourced, and though it took me a moment to figure out the range cooker, I fell in love with it by the end of the two weeks. The two living rooms are warm and inviting with oversized sofas, and the addition of electric stoves in the fireplace means no dirt or cleaning. For us it was warm, so we never needed them. The bedrooms were lovely, and in the winter would feel cosy, but my only issue was, it would be good to have lighter quilts and bedding for summer. The gardens were really nice, with a large dining table for eating out in the sun, and the covered over seating area, was lovely when sitting in the evening, or when the Welsh weather wasn’t playing ball. We don’t have children with us, but wow they are catered for with a full sized table tennis table in the garden, a pool table in the outhouse, and a game of table football as you do the laundry. The facilities were great, with access to the washing machine and tumble dryer as well as a rotary dryer if you prefer. The kitchen has a dishwasher too, so no manual labour required in this farmhouse. And of course David, the owner is wonderful and so knowledgeable about the area, and things that suit each guest. He was available whenever we needed help or advice. And he has ensured that there is lots of information, maps, and literature for you to find things to do. We will definitely be back, and can’t thank David enough for letting us use his beautiful farmhouse.

  • "This could be a lovely holiday cottage, but is let down by it's cleanliness and features that are described / pictured but missing."

When we arrived, the first thing we did was visit the local co-op to buy bleach and cleaning cloths as the sink was brown with dirty stains. As the weather was lovely, we decided to have a BBQ - again needed to visit co-op to buy matches as it wouldn't light and there weren't any matches or lighter provided. The BBQ was also filthy, so had to clean that too. The chiminea and wood burner pictured have been removed. The laundry room is dirty, dusty and filled with junk so there's no place to sort clean washing - no laundry basket either. The windows and doors haven't been cleaned for ages - cobwebs, bird poo, dirt and fingerprints all over them. There's a hose point in the garden, but no hose, so impossible to clean muddy dogs after their walk. The mattresses are cheap, hard and uncomfortable and the bedding is old and un-ironed. The mop and bucket were rancid, I can't believe it had been used in the days prior to our stay! When I accidentally burnt the toast, and the kitchen filled with smoke, the smoke alarm did not go off. The tap in the bathroom is either full on or off, there's no halfway. There's a lot more I could say, but basically the place needs a full, professional clean and much more attention to detail. A basic welcome pack, even just tea, coffee and milk would have been appreciated. We've stayed in many cottages over the past few years, this one is well below the standard of others on the market.

The farmhouse is spacious, cosy and made you feel like you were in a home from home. The farmhouse is well situated and is a short 20 min drive from a beach and is a great base for exploring both Pembrokeshie and Carmarthanshire. I read some of the negative comments regarding the cleanliness of the property before we arrived but would have to disagree with them. It’s a well lived in farmhouse and doesn’t try to be anything it’s not. The important things i.e kitchen, bathroom, toilets were all spotless. I would highly recommend and will definitely look to stay here again.

It was clean, comfortable and cosily warm which was particularly appreciated as we got rained on most days but at least we could dry our kit and clothes. There were five adults, a baby and a dog and space was never an issue. There were plenty of places to sit, the kitchen was well equipped, the lounges and bedrooms were comfortable and although the weather didn't allow us to enjoy the garden we did make use of the indoor games area. We would definitely consider returning.

    - Kitchen and bathrooms fine . 2 lounges but neither big enough for us all to sit comfortably together - No socket to plug in fire ,to have a cosy glow in the evening. Large bedroom has plenty of room but no wardrobe! We knew that the play areas were in outside buildings -however the equipment was all very old and shabby - we had to mend the pool table , only one dart to play darts . A good sweep and de-cobwebbing would have been appreciated,. The table tennis table was outside, the leg was broken -we managed to prop it up. only one ball , 5 bats- of which 3 were broken. Outside there was no chiminair - which we would have used , as one of the evenings was chilly , this was shown on the photographs. Distance to local shops- was further than stated. Nearest pub is closed.

The owner was most helpful and responsive. It was well equipped, but I found the cooker a bit challenging. It is a lovely house with plenty of room for several guests, although one bathroom is a bit inadequate for the size of the house. We used the bbq and it was clean. No issues at all, and we had a good week. Nothing to do with the owner, but I am baffled as to why Sykes charge £30 per dog when I suspect the cleaning regime doesn’t change? Other than that all positive. Thanks David

Either dog friendly or not! Would have been nice to have a basic welcome pack. I.e. tea, coffee, milk. Only the remains of previous guests loo rolls which was just as well after a 9 hour journey! Poorly equipped in kitchen. No butter dish, milk jug, sugar bowl etc. Electric range did not work properly. Thermostat not working correctly on ovens. No laundry basket when emptying washing machine. Only bath towels provided ( one hand towel in property). Not practical for when washing long hair. Curtains in bedrooms need linings to block light. Broken fences in garden which although mown was surrounded by weeds and nettles all round the borders. The gas BBQ was filthy and unusable. The garden table had a broken piece of wood on top. Overall the cottage and its garden was looking tired and slightly neglected. Having owned a holiday cottage ourselves which was dog friendly you have to accept there will be accidents and trust in the fact that most owners will be responsible and deal with the ones that are not. The final insult was to receive a call after we left asking where 2 plates were, which he then found in the cupboard where they should be!

Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating - great to have two sitting rooms - we all slept well too.
