The interior was furnished impeccably and the views from the windows gorgeous. We watched hares in the fields to the front and red squirrels at the feeder in the garden to the rear. We had everyhting we could wish for and very much welcomed the personal greeting from the hosts. We'd stay again without the slightest hesitation and would recommend without reservation. Bed was very comfortable, pillows were excellent and high quality bed linen making a very good nights sleep. The garden was lovely to sit in spending time watching the red squirrels. Close to Dunkeld, just over an hour to walk or mins to drive, offering a perfect blend of quiet when wanted with excellent walks or close enough to pubs, restaurants and shops as needed. A perfect cottage or summer or winter and we would definitely go back. Reviewed by Stuart5.0★May 2023 "Very comfortable and well appointed." A home from home. Reviewed by Glyn5.0★May 2023 "Hi. We really enjoyed our recent stay at this cottage." Very kind of David and Sally to pop in to welcome us, explain a few things about the cottage and answer our questions about local walks etc. They also sent some specific walk routes. That was very kind! The facilities in the cottage are very good and it's very cosy. The snow and ice made running difficult, but walking was just about ok, weather very seasonal for December! With the snowy backdrop, some views of the surrounding area were out of this world. Reviewed by Joe5.0★Dec 2022 "Another great stay at Taigh a Ghobha." It is the one place we’ve ever come back to and still feel like we need more time to explore the area. The cottage is well situated near Dunkeld and Blairgowrie and the tracks around the local area are great for walking the dog and seeing lots of wildlife. Easy access to plenty of the Perthshire big tree country and a number of distilleries, it is a snug cottage perfect getting a taste of “proper” Scotland. The owners were very helpful, visiting soon after our arrival to make sure we were settled in and to answer any queries. There was plenty of information on things to do in the area, supplemented by further details sent to us by email from the owners. A relaxing stay. We hope to return soon. The perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy blissful calm and tranquility amidst beautiful countryside teeming with wildlife. A big thank you to owners David and Sally for making this such a special place to be. William MarriageOct 2021 "As alluring and beautiful as the Perthshire countryside undoubtedly is, our fondest holiday memories were those spent tucked away inside this beautifully cosy and characterful cottage enjoying all of the comforts and the abundance of amenities it had to offer." We loved our stay and we look forward to future trips. William And Jo MarriageOct 2020 "We just wanted to let you know what outstanding host Sally and David were during our stay." Considerable effort had clearly gone into making the cottage a lovely place to stay but over and above that the warm welcome we received (complete with delicious home made bread, fresh from the oven) combined with the care we received during our visit following an issue with the stove was wonderful and very much appreciated. Alison MacDonald-EwenOct 2019 "A lovely cottage in a very quiet part of Perthshire." It had everything we needed; is really well equipped and very cosy; especially when you get the log burner going! We met the owners David & Sally who made us really welcome. We stayed for a week in June and the wildflower garden was just starting to bloom, so with the visiting birds and red squirrels (next door has a fantastic array of feeders); it was a real haven for wildlife. There's lots of tracks and paths locally to walk on where you'll see even more wildlife - deer, hares, raptors. It's a great area to explore with some lovely towns and villages; beautiful countryside, lochs & iconic mountains within easy reach. But if you want a quiet, peaceful time, just sit in the garden and enjoy the surroundings. Wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend to others! Michael HoughtonJun 2019 "This has been a wonderful cottage in every way - perfect from which to explore an area we have come to love and to visit a new little family member!" The River Tay flows through the small town of Dunkeld and there are plenty of places to enjoy the views, either from the cathedral gardens or from the Taybank bar where you might be lucky enough to hear some impromptu music performed. The town itself dates from the 9th century and boasts a wealth of history from the Dark and Middle Ages to more recent history with Thomas Telford’s bridge over the Tay. The forests surrounding Dunkeld and nearby Birnam are known as Perthshire Big Tree Country and are celebrated in Shakespeare’s “Scottish Play”. The Hermitage is a National Trust site of beautiful forest which contains Ossian’s Hall of Mirrors, a folly built as a tribute to the 3rd century blind poet Ossian on a rocky outcrop near the Black Linn waterfalls. With the Loch Of The Lowes nature Reserve nearby and also the Victorian village of Birnam with its famous Birnam Oak and a Beatrix Potter exhibition marking her regular visits to the village, this area is one of the most spectacular and varied in Scotland and well worth a visit.
