  • "The holiday house was dirty and had not been cleaned properly in some time."

We found food spills inside microwave, on kettle, splashed up kitchen tiles, dirty cooker, dirty toilets, dirty shower downstairs. Someone's make up sponge underneath coffee table, an earring in the sink, the stair carpet is worn down and the gripper caught my daughters foot at the back, so no underlay. The garden area had weeds, no flowers or shrubs so not a nice sitting area. The pans required a wash prior to use. Manager entered the property to leave us 2 bottles of wine to say sorry for the dirty house, this felt invasive. Very expensive for the conditions and not worth half this amount. The whole house needs painting and some quality beds and furniture, The upstairs bannistar on far side is loose, house needs a refurbishment. Never paid to stay somewhere so bad before. I have pictures btw.

  • "Despite having a lovely family holiday (6 adults and 4 children aged 10 8 6 and 4) spending quality time together and enjoying many of the beautiful beaches that Anglesey has to offer, Regent House sadly did not fulfil our expectations of the quality expected from a property booked with your company."

As a family we have used Sykes before on numerous occasions either as couples, individual families or our larger family group; most recently in May this year. Prior to the holiday I had raised issues about the exterior appearance when driving past the house and informed your company who forwarded these to the owner and an attempt to rectify them had been made. The house was close to amenities -we used a good co op store, had a pleasant meal in the Trecastell Hotel in Bull Bay and visited a lovely cafe for breakfast on the last morning. Unfortunately we were too close to the pub opposite! Nothing can alter the location however, family groups like ours need to be aware that the noise level and unsuitability of some of the language could be an issue as it was for us. The house was just about adequately equipped for eating together but we did find the oven rather limiting for cooking for 12 people and noticed the fridge had been leaking at the end of the week. We cleaned the dish washer and the washing machine and used them. We felt that a dryer would have been useful if not a necessity. There were enough beds all made up but poor quality mattresses and bed linen and a few of the covers smelt musty. The overall state of the house was definitely not ‘superb’ as advertised: it was generally not clean enough some rooms and kitchen cupboards smelt musty and there were damp patch marks on the walls and peeling paint It looked very tatty, being in a poor state of decoration and repair. We coped with what looked like unfinished building work around loft entrances and ceiling plaster not painted, loose electric socket and light fittings, broken and sharp bath panel, loose dangerous carpet fixing by door and dirty extractor fans but couldn’t face using the disgusting toilet brush! More importantly we were concerned about upstairs windows not having restrictors fixed to them and wondered whether fire regulations were adequate. It was also difficult to get out of the kitchen door carrying a small child due to proximity of fridge rubbish bin and a table. I do have photographs should you wish to see them but can’t seem to attach them in this comment box

  • "Amlwch is not the prettiest of towns but please don't let this put you off!"

It will initially make you think "OMG this is rough" but the people really are lovely and real! What we liked about Amwlch is that it is not pretentious and the locals will help you deal with things. This property is ideally situated for pubs/restaurants and shops etc. It is right in the centre of things and a fabulous base for travelling around the island, along with some great walks and an interesting heritage. The house is colossal. There is so much space. Paul, the owner is such a lovely man and he even allowed us to stay for an extra night free of charge as he had some free spaces!!!! Ronnie the caretaker/maintenance man is a local and can tell you lots of things. He is a minute away and is very quick at getting back to you if there are any issues (not that we had any!). Don't expect the Ritz, this is a fabulous home but it is a work in progress, it has everything you need and is very clean and Paul is continually trying to improve it, from talking with him as he is very keen on constructive feedback! This is refreshing as many owners only care about getting the money in! Whatever you want/need Paul/Ronnie will sort it out almost immediately! Anglesey is magical, please try this place and see wha you can experience!

  • "Fabulous cottage very spacious had an amazing week."

There was 19 of us and our little pooch. Location is ideal for beeches and dive sites and shops and local amenities. Had a few little issues with the hob but Paul dealt with it efficiently and was very apologetic. Also had a power cut but that was due to a wagon taking out the power line in the street but was back up and running in no time. We would definitely book to stay at Regent house again. Thank you again for a great week from the mcmullen family.
