  • "This is one of those Airbnb’s where the owner tried to maximize profit by limiting any investment."

Everything is super cheap and falling apart. Also, the picture isn’t accurate, it’s two houses connected not an independent cottage. Avoid!

  • "Good location, lovely views and well equipped cottage."

Close to all amenities and with plenty of things to do in the area. We had a amazing time at Craigfa Cottage and the host was helpful with everything we needed. This was a great holiday..

  • "The property was in a great location and the layout and style were very good."

The bathrooms were fine and clean, the washing machine was very useful. However, there were a number of issues which adversely impacted our visit. The beds were appalling - people sleeping in the ensuite bedroom and family room had to put the mattresses on the floor to sleep as the beds were so uncomfortable and after the first night 3 of us had bad backs. The kingsize and double bed bases were broken/creaking. Mattresses were poor quality. The kingsize mattress did not fit the bed base and the bedding was too small for the mattress. These bed issues really impacted our holiday. The coffee machine had not been cleaned out, the food processor was disgustingly filthy, the outside table was filthy and the hoover was also very dirty. There were a lot of cobwebs and dust. There were many cracked floor tiles in the kitchen which were dangerous and a large window was also cracked. One of the kitchen lights flashed the whole time. There was no extractor hood for the hob - which meant the whole house (as it's open plan) smelled of food all the time. No washing up liquid was provided at all - we had to buy our own. This wasn't made clear and is very unusual. The reclining chair and sofa were broken and therefore didn't recline. There were no instructions for anything (eg washing machine, coffee machine, wine cooler, heating etc.) Overall it was very disappointing and didn't meet our expectations based on the website. We felt many of the above issues are easily sorted out but just hadn't been.

  • "Lovely spacious house with great views from living room windows also ideal garden area for children to play."

Window on upstairs patio has a large crack as does number of kitchen tiles both of which Dave, the owner, confirmed he is aware of and does intend fixing when property vacant. Also vacuum found to be not working with bag of dust left hanging on it. Just one side of bed in master bedroom creaks loudly every time you move in bed which can be annoying and couldn’t get bottom lock on patio door in this room to open. Apart from these few minor issues overall excellent few days with family

  • "Very good property."

Well equipped. Was a big surprise to pull up and realise that it was a semi-detatched property and that there was a fully equipped caravan set up on the same site. This should have been explained to us as we had no idea that this was the case. We had 5 small children and not having somewhere to ourselves made us a bit concerned about safety.

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your stay at Creigfa Cottage. We are really glad you liked the house as we have taken a lot of time and care to bring it up to a standard we are proud of. It does state within the description on the website that the property was semi-detached, and the grounds are shared with neighbours, but we will adjust the description to make this even clearer for future guests. The caravan belongs to the owners, and it is only for their own occasional use, again we will make this clearer in the description. We hope to be able to welcome you back to Creigfa Cottage soon! Garden and pond area could do with a tidy up. Walk down to the cottage is slate chippings and is quite steep and difficult when carrying a heavy suitcase(we are not all hill walkers). These are very minor problems, overall a brilliant place to stay and we will be back.

About the location

BETHESDA

Bangor 6 miles; Caernarfon 10 miles.

Bethesda is a small town settled beside the River Ogwen in North Wales. Situated on the A5 between Bangor and the Snowdonia National Park, Bethesda was once a busy slate quarrying town and nowadays offers a good selection of shops and other amenities, in particular a number of chapels and pubs. The beautiful mountainous scenery of Snowdonia borders Bethesda, with the Lôn Las Ogwen cycling and walking paths skirting past. For the more adventurous, why not visit Zip World in Bethesda which is known for having Europe’s fastest and longest zip line. Capel Curig, just ten miles away, is a popular centre for walking, climbing and mountain biking, whilst Llanberis is situated at the foot of Mount Snowdon and is home to the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the National Slate Museum. Cwm Idwal is also a wonderful spot to visit, situated in northern Snowdonia – Darwin came to study the area and found tiny fossils of oceanic plant life and sea creatures in the boulders and rocks. The coastal town of Caernarfon is just a short drive away as is the beautiful Isle of Anglesey and the Anglesey Coastal Path. Visitors to the area can also explore the castles of Caernarfon and Beaumaris and the NT stately homes of Penrhyn Castle and Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens. Spend the day at one of the many traditional seaside resorts, or discover the isolated, hidden beaches on Anglesey, much of which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With spectacular scenery on the doorstep, wonderful wildlife with buzzards soaring overhead and the occasional Peregrine Falcon to be seen, and many exciting outdoor adventures to discover nearby, Bethesda is superbly located for enjoying both the coast and the countryside of stunning North Wales.
