  • "Each time we visit Beaumaris we find more and more to do in the area."

it's been great to experience such wild and wet weather (warmish), switching to clear, frosty sunshine (cold!). And how lovely to return to Amelie Cottage and find everything exactly the same as we left it in 2018! Thanks very much Gillie for such a homey cottage to return to after a day climbing the hills. We loved it. Despite Covid times, we found all the pubs welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed a delicious lamb shank in the Liverpool Arms and the Castle Court has a great open fire and great chat with the locals! Thanks again and hope to see you again soon.

So happy you had a good time and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

  • "Water coming in through the corner of the front bedroom."

The wallpaper was saturated, there was water pooling on top of the skirting board when it rained, the walls were wet to the touch, there was mould forming and the bed sheets were damp. The house smelled damp and the rooms felt humid, I think if this is allowed to continue, mould spores in the air would become a health hazard, particularly for people with asthma & allergies.

As mentioned before your arrival we had been badly affected by Storm Arwen and had done what we could before your arrival to make your stay comfortable, putting in place a dehumidifier in the bedroom affected. We are sorry you felt the need to make your feelings know this way rather than letting us know at the time that you were unhappy with the solutions we had found. Thankfully we have been able to rectify the issues that were created by the storm during the winter Property Owner

  • "We had a very comfortable stay in a lovely cottage."

Really well equipped- even crabbing equipment for the children to use! The towels and bedding were lovely and the kitchen had everything. The little secret garden was lovely and great for the children to run around in. We’d gladly return and we had a wonderful time. The only thing for us was the parking- being on my own with two young children and not having parking outside was difficult when we were loading and unloading. I’d phoned ahead to try and get more information from Sykes cottages but hadn’t been given the information I needed. Reading a previous review I’d seen that they had parked on the Green- I managed to sort that for the week but the kiosk was closed by the time we arrived and I could only arrange it the following morning. Now I know what to do I would certainly stay with confidence again, but trying to arrange it initially was a little more difficult than it needed to be or than I would have liked.

  • "We had a really lovely stay, coffee in the morning in the secret garden while the world woke up was really nice."

Ideal to be able to walk to everything we needed. The cottage has everything you need including stair gate and dog bowl. The only niggle was the WiFi signal dropped numerous times and parking was a good 5 minute walk away as we weren't able to find on road parking any closer. Having said that it wouldn't stop us coming back. Thank you

The secure rear courtyard and separate secure grassed garden area gives great flexibility. Clean, well equipped and comfortable for humans too. The sofas, king sized bed and kitchen equipment are all worth a special mention. Beaumaris is one of our favourite places. So, everything we needed for a great week's holiday. Thank you.

  • "This cottage was very suitable for our dog."

We were able to let him out in the enclosed back yard area which was completely dog proof . Also the grassed garden part was completely dog proof too. It looked lovely inside and had a lovely big kitchen area where you could sit and eat, chat play games. The front door opens straight into the lounge area but there is a mat for dirty feet and a set of hooks for the coats. I can imagine that two children would enjoy being in the cottage as it had a large twin room and lots of games toys were provided. We were only a short stroll from the lovely street and the seafront. We will certainly be returning again

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
