  • "Church Cottage was a great place to stay for five adults, two six year olds and a baby."

It was well equipped, spacious and comfortable. The garden was lovely. We would recommend the property.

  • "Wonderful historic house in Beaumaris, right in the heart of the old town."

We loved the house and garden and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Perfect base for a family holiday. Relaxing, spacious, comfortable. Excellent!

  • "We had a fantastic time staying in Church Cottage which was close to all amenities and close to the sea and attractions."

The cottage is very spacious and a wonderful garden to sit and eat in. It is an old quirky cottage which is full character and the parking was easier than expected. We had two cars with us and always managed to park either on the toad at the front or at the back in the allocated space behind secure gates. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

  • "Car parking was a joke."

Despite asking whether the car parking would be appropriate for my elderly parents .. and being reassured at the time of booking it was. Musty smell within the house. Vermin issue … entered house to find a note informing who knows (?) .. that there a mouse in a trap somewhere? Really who leaves a note for guests like this? This really set the right tone! One of the showers was dirty .. fortunately this was also the bathroom .. which had notices asking users to be careful due to potential leaking into Dining Room. Perhaps this explained the musty smell? Place mats had food stuck to them … again not pleasant. This is potentially a lovely place to stay .. which is let down in a number of areas.

The property offers a car parking space, which is very rare in Beaumaris. Admittedly, it is not big enough to take bulky SUV’s or the like but guests with fairly large Mercedes or Audis have managed to park their cars without any issues (you just have to manoeuvre carefully). Visitors have not complained in the past about the so-called 'musty smell’. Church cottage is a Georgian house, not a modern bungalow. There is no vermin issue: a few weeks ago we had a couple of mice inviting themselves into the house (in all likelihood through the kitchen door left open during a very warm week) and the issue has since been dealt with. The sign, which you spotted in the TV snug, was left by my daughter for the attention of the caretaker not guests and it should have been removed. The notice in the bathroom was there only because we have had the odd problem in the past (attended to by our plumber) so we feel it is best to let guests be aware just in case. Regarding the place mats, I can only apologise, this should not happen but I can honestly say that the cleaners do a good job as acknowledged regularly by visiting guests. I hope that these small niggling problems did not prevent you from enjoying your stay in Church Cottage. I hope we can welcome you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Considering age and size of house,we were very pleased to find the house exceptionally clean."

Only negatives were a lack of television in the larger 'sitting room'. Also while we appreciate that in these 'strange' times house cleaning schedules can be a major problem,we were due to leave the property at 10.00am only to find the cleaning team trying to enter the building at 9.30am.Not a major problem because luggage etc was already in car,but we did feel slightly harassed when leaving.

  • "Church cottage is a beautiful old cottage with lots of character and charm."

The garden is secluded and peaceful, The beds are so comfy you will not want to get up in the morning. There is a TV in the snug but it would benefit from a large TV in the sitting room especially with larger groups.. The cottage is well placed in Beaumaris which oozes history and best of all there is an amazing ice cream parlor at the end of the street with the best ice cream I have ever had. If any problem did arise the owners were very helpful and got things sorted quickly

  • "Response to COVID-19 was very good - practical and felt couldnt do much more."

i would however suggest removing the books from the lounge and storing away rather than having the red and white warning tape which made it feel quite uncomfortable. - just a suggestion. beaumaris was open and acting as whole in safe ways with one way systems, face coverings etc and practical distancing.

  • "Absolutely lovely cottage and for six people had plenty of space."

Well kitted out kitchen and bedrooms were all lovely, comfortable and clean. The overall decor of the cottage was good but needing a bit of tlc. It looks like it’s well used and perhaps ready for some refreshing. It met our expectations apart from the garden which in the promotion material shows a well cared for garden ready for the holiday maker to enjoy. Last week that was not the case. The garden was well overrun, bushes, roses etc and the grass obviously hadn’t been cut for a while, very disappointing. The Gardner came on Friday morning as we were leaving Saturday. The recycling and refuse was also an issue. Although the information pack said they were emptied on Fridays that wasn’t the case when we arrived, Saturday 29th June, they were all overflowing! I would be interested in booking this cottage again but cost wise it’s at the top end. I regularly book cottages in Beaumaris and will bear it in mind,

Dear Mr Butterworth Thank you for sharing your views on Church Cottage. I am disappointed that we seem to have let you down in a couple of areas. Regarding the garden : we transitioned in the second half of June from fortnightly to weekly visits by the gardener . Somehow there was a misunderstanding between myself and the gardener . Instead of coming the day before your arrival , he came a week later . I can assure you that now that we are back on track , the garden looks very nice . Regarding the bins : we pay for private rubbish collection ( Gaskells ) , a service which is organised via Menai Holidays . Unfortunately this was missed on your visit as the driver did not have on him the key to access the back of the house . I have discussed this with Menai and we will put in place a stricter control to ensure this no longer happens . In your comments your refer to bins that were “ all overflowing “ : can I just say that we only have one clearly identified bin - the other bins belong to the neighbours. Finally regarding the decor : Church Cottage has been a family home for many years and we want it to remain that way . It is part of its charm and character. We decorate regularly and intend to continue to look after this house with great care , hoping that our guests share our love for it . Kind regards Celia Hutchison Property Owner

The property

Church Cottage is a beautiful holiday house to arrive at!

Being a Georgian listed building, it offers so much character and is pretty to look at with it’s brightly painted door.

Located in the heart of the seaside town of Beaumaris, on Anglesey, it’s well situated for a fun-filled break.

You can see the tips of the Snowdonia mountain range over the roofs of Beaumaris from one of the bedrooms.

The conservatory looks out onto the walled garden, too.

It’s just a lovely, relaxing holiday house. The sitting room has plenty of space for the whole family.

There are two comfy sofas and a TV. The kitchen makes a lovely modern contrast to the rest of the house which is fairly traditional.

There’s a dishwasher, an electric hob and oven, a microwave and plenty of utensils.

From the kitchen you can head out into the garden. The dining room also has views out to the garden and makes for the ideal place for a family supper.

The smaller snug room has a fire that you can warm yourself in front of with a good book.

There is also a TV in this room with a DVD player. The breakfast room is a bright space, with a garden outlook, and is a great place for an informal brunch. On the ground floor are two loos. Church Cottage has two bedrooms that look out towards the church opposite the house - one double and one twin.

Two interlinking bedrooms at the back of the house have views over the garden; you have to pass through the single room to get to the double beyond.

The double room has a super-king sized bed.

The single room has an additional trundle bed, which can be made up by prior request. The family bathroom includes wash hand basin, bath and shower as well as a separate loo. One of the double bedrooms has an ensuite shower room with a wash basin and loo. The garden at the back of the house has a mix of trees and shrubs.

It’s a lovely, tranquil space in which to relax and recharge your batteries on a sunny afternoon.

Church Cottage also has the added benefit of off-road parking for one car comfortably but it is possible for two small cars to fit if you don’t mind the space being tight.

Beaumaris is a pretty seaside town on Anglesey and offers so much that you don’t have to jump in the car!

Walk to the castle, great places to eat and drink, local shops and the seafront.

There are gardens close by, sandy beaches and interesting attractions.

You could along the coastal footpath, cycle routes, or drive the Anglesey coastal road for some amazing vistas and stop off along the way.

You can also head into Snowdonia and explore all that the region has to offer.

You’re sure to have a fun family break in this lovely holiday house. The beds will be made made up as advertised, if you would like a different bed configuration please contact Menai Holidays 7 days before your arrival.

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
