  • "We were very happy with the cottage and enjoyed staying there."

It was obviously a family (second) home and had a homely feel about it. It was certainly very clean and well equipped. The parking was a bit of a problem since as two couples we had two cars and so were competing with neighbours, but we were made award of that beforehand. we would certainly recommend it to others. The town of Beaumaris was a lovely place to stay with lots of good eating places. All in all a great holiday.

Thank you very much for your lovely feedback, indeed it is our familys second home that we spend lots of time in. We are very glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

It was well equipped and the welcome bottle was much appreciated. The garden is also a lovely sun trap and the weather was good so we made use of it. We had a great time and were sad to leave.

Thank you for your positive feedback. We are glad you enjoyed our house and our garden, even in the cooler months it is pleasantly warm. We hope to see you back again soon. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful cottage and excellently equipped, lots of little touches were really nice, the quality of furnishings - bedding and towels etc were lovely, the children's toy kitchen and the books came in handy too."

we stay in a lot of cottages and this one was great - plenty of knives, crockery and large frying pans, so many cottages are short on kitchen equipment but not this cottage :-) We think it could benefit from a couple of lamps in the living room as opposed to using the ceiling lights to give a cosier atmosphere in the evenings, and an extra comfy chair or sofa would be welcome as sitting on the hard chairs not the comfiest for watching a film - none of that distracted form the enjoyment of such a good cottage. The cottage owners cant do much about his but seagulls a nightmare, one in particular was a pest - couldn't sit outside to eat as swopping all the time - but as I say nothing can be done as they are living creatures, just a shame as its a lovely little garden. Location is excellent, we didn't find parking an issue at all and grabbed a spot outside the cottage, 5 min walk to Beaumaris with its great little places to eat and partake in a local beverage - Black Boar our favourite. Castle and Gaol good places to visits and we had 2 or 3 pop up Artisan markets during our stay which were fab. Definitely a place to go back to.

Many thanks for your lovely comments. I agree with you on the lighting, and we have since bought some lamps for the sitting room. A great shame you had a problem with seagulls - this has never been an issue previously. We stayed the 2 weeks after you, and there was a problem. After 3 days of stern words with the seagull and ensuring no food was left in the garden, we saw no more of the intruder. I fear somebody in the vicinity has been feeding them, and I will put notes out to future guests to advise against this. Property Owner

  • "We felt very comfortable at Swn y Mor."

The kitchen was well equipped and it was nice to be able to sit out in the pretty garden. The bedrooms were quiet and it was a bonus to have an ensuite as well as the main bathroom. The location was good and we only had trouble parking outside when we arrived on Friday afternoon.

  • "Overall a good standard of accommodation."

Well stocked kitchen, for cooking etc. and additional day out equipment. Fantastic location near to all amenities and other locations. If I could suggest any improvements, it would be to provide a black out blind in the all bedroom, as really not adequate. Mattress very lumpy with springs coming through. Boiler setting impossible to work, always coming on every 15 minutes which then produced banging/creaking/rattling through the pipes and walls, which on the first .night kept us all awake. Also furniture needs updating throughout. Otherwise an enjoyable stay.

Dear Martin, Many thanks for your feedback which we really appreciate. We take any improvement suggestions seriously. It turns out that the mattress had been turned upside down, and once corrected it was much more comfortable with no springs coming through. All the mattresses were brand new in 2020. Whilst the boiler and wifi setting were only installed in 2020, you are not the only person to find it tricky, including us initially, and so we are fitting a new hive wifi system in 2 weeks time. We have left detailed instructions though. The furniture is either brand new, or is antique which we feel fits in with the 17th century age of the property. Sorry if not to your liking - we will never please everyone on something so subjective! Best regards, Gareth Property Owner

Traditional inside, it offers a delightful base for exploring the delights on your doorstep in this fabulous seaside town.

Upon entering Swn Y Mor, you will appreciate the welcoming feel; the sitting room is cosy and intimate, complemented with a woodburning stove and creating a charming focal point, making it a fabulous space for socialising after a meal in the adjoining kitchen/diner.

Dust off those cook books and take to the well-equipped kitchen, offering all the essentials for a self-catered break, while an exposed stone wall adds a touch of character to the room.

On a sunny day, throw open the bifold doors to bring the outside in, accessing the patio where a set of furniture tempts alfresco dining.

On the first floor you will find three well-presented bedrooms; the first hosts a king-size bed with en-suite shower, while there is another king-size with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, and finally a twin with attractive sash windows.

Serving these bedrooms is the charming bathroom where you can round off the evening with a lazy soak or rejuvenate with a refreshing shower.

Stroll through the centre of Beaumaris, with its attractive selection of pubs, restaurants, cafés and shops, ranging from some well-known names to more independent businesses.

Head over to the shingle beach and pier where you can enjoy some traditional fish and chips whilst watching the boats gently bob with the tide, or visit the UNESCO site of Beaumaris Castle, constructed during the 1300s.

There’s plenty to do in the town of Menai Bridge; visit the magnificent Pili Palas butter palace, uncover local history at the Menai Bridge Heritage Museum or enjoy a beautiful stroll through the Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens, a historic estate featuring 3 elaborate gardens.

From here, you are in easy reach of the Eryri (Snowdonia0 National Park, ideal for those looking for some adventure exploring the magnificent rural and mountainous terrain, with excellent walking and cycling opportunities.

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia).
