  • "Very comfy cottage."

Fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from the beach.

  • "One of the reasons we picked the Ark was that it had an outside terraced area, however there was no key in the property to access the area."

There was no contact details, phone or local contact in the property. We phoned Sykes/Menai holiday cottages and related the problem re key /access to terrace. The Sykes contact stated that they would contact the local agent and we would be contacted by them shortly to solve the problem. No one contacted us and we had no access to the terrace for the whole holiday. The accommodation itself was fine but the lack of contact details at the cottage and the inaction of Sykes/Menai Cottages was disappointing.

I am sorry that the system which has worked well in the past, with us acting as a go-between for the guests and owners, did not work well in this instance. Hopefully this kind of thing won't happen during your future bookings but if it does I am confident we will do better next time. Property Owner

! Apart from the parking and a few little issues The Ark is fab for location and size.

No, I am afraid The Ark is not advertised with parking, but we are so pleased you had a great stay! Property Owner

  • "We had a fantastic time at The Ark in Beaumaris."

Great location only a couple of minutes walk from the main high street and pier. Property was clean with good amenities. Nicely decorated and lots of books and games for children. Great to have the terrace for additional outside space. Would love to come back and stay here again.

  • "The property had a lovely atmosphere, quite quirky and cute at the same time!"

We appreciated the decor and attention to detail which made it a very homely place to stay. Everything was extremely clean and this all added to it being a comfortable residence. The house is in a great location, within a short walking distance from the seafront. It was my first trip to Beaumaris and I have fallen in love with it! We were lucky and saw it bathed in sunshine, but I'm sure it is equally endearing at all times of the year and in any weather conditions. There are some very pretty coves with sandy beaches only a 20 minute drive away. The scenery is stunning and I can't wait to come back and have chance to explore more of Anglesey.

  • "We were very pleased with The Ark in Beaumaris, everything was as described and the location was excellent - just up the road from the Central Bakery where they do the best Bacon Baps in the World!"

The town's pubs and restaurants are only 5 minutes walk and very convenient. The Ark is very well equipped and comfortable, super rooftop terrace to one side for when you want to sit out in the sun and have a small BBQ. The cleanliness of the cottage was generally very good. We had a great holiday at The Ark and would definitely recommend to others.

  • "Very nice and well presented cottage, great location for all local amenities and a short walk to the town centre."

lots of games, books and other things to do if its raining and great Wifi signal. Nice and light livingroom area with plenty of windows to sit and relax. The negatives about the cottage, most Menai cottages provide a welcome pint of milk and this was not available at this one. The double bed downstairs is really uncomfortable and very hard, we had buy a mattress topper to be able to use the bed, so that was a bit of an unwanted expense. Apart form that and a couple of minor bits that need attention its a great cottage and well presented. Maybe a chest of drawers in the bunk bed room would be a good idea.

. We enjoyed our stay in The Ark, we look forward to staying there again in the future.

  • "The cottage was well appointed but lacked attention to detail on cleaning and decorating."

No storage for clothes in the bunk room was not ideal either.

  • "The cottage was excellent, but could be improved in two respects first the floor in the kitchen area does need a small repair to the floor covering in two areas and secondly the cottage would benefit enormously if parking were provided."

    George RobertsonJul 2018

  • "Used, wet towels left in en suite, no toilet rolls in either bathroom, no bin liner in kitchen bin, no new dish scrubber old one left, used tea towel left out, dishwasher full of pots not put away."

On the whole the cottage could do with a freshen up and a lick of paint plus the en suite is so small I burnt my arm on the towel rail.

  • "Comfortable, well equipped, quiet, ideal location."

5 minutes walk to the high street, even less to the bakers. Pub a few minutes more we ll be back.

  • "Not a patch on Treadeaur bay."

No parking that could be reached within a short time or walk. Poor on the contents of utensils, television not of a standard size. Could go on best left at poor and would not go again.

  • "We stayed at the Ark in Beaumaris and it was wonderful, there was everything you needed."

Even bread, milk and other sundries. We loved it. Thanks

  • "Great location in a quiet part of Beaumaris."

No private parking but we never had a problem finding somewhere nearby to park during our stay in June. We liked having the living area on the first floor, it was bright and had a feeling of space. The little terrace off the upstairs bedroom was a great sun trap. Kitchen was full of useful bits and pieces, the games and books went down well with our 9 year old son. It would have been nice to have black out blinds in the bunk room, we were lucky enough to have the sun pouring through all week!! We would definitely go back.

The kitchen is modern and well equipped with an oven and hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, breakfast bar and dining table and chairs to one side.

Comfy sofas are set around a lovely wood burning stove, and there is a flat screen TV and DVD player. Upstairs there is a double ensuite bedroom with a shower, loo and wash hand basin.

A door leads out from this room to a decked terrace with garden furniture. On the ground floor there is a double ensuite bedroom with a bath, shower, loo and wash hand basin and a bunk bed room.

The washing machine is in the utility area accessed down stairs from the kitchen balcony. The Ark is located next to the Churchyard of St Mary and St Nicholas, a lovely 14th Century Church that is also well worth a visit.

There are numerous small, independent shops and galleries, and a wide variety of pubs and restaurants in Beaumaris.

An ice cream from Red Boat is a must on a sunny day.

Crabbing on the pier is a very popular activity with the children and you can hop on a boat to take a trip along the beautiful Menai Strait. It is only possible to park outside to load and unload but parking can usually be found quite easily nearby.

About the location

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
