  • "Another wrongly listed property by Sykes did not mention all of the steps everywhere ."

. we had to come back after 4 days losing 6 days holiday .. this is not a reflection on the owner but on Sykes …we will never use Sykes again and they have the cheek and Gaul to try to sell us another property as soon as we arrive . Would I recommend Sykes no chance at all..

Thank you for your comment. I just want to clarify that H Jem was built as a fairly standard bungalow and that there are no staircases. There is a step into the porch and one into the hall. The main part of the property, housing the lounge, kitchen, hall, main bathroom and two of the bedrooms has no steps at all between any of the rooms. There is one step into the conservatory and two steps out to the back garden. I am sorry if your holiday didn’t meet your expectations. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely holiday."

Thank you. The front doors need looking at as the locks were very difficult to lock. The double bedroom door handle is nearly falling off. Was worried if I shut the door I wouldn’t be able to get out. I would also recommend more cleaning products. Like cloths to clean the bathroom. Other than these which were actual minor things. We had a great time and look forward to coming again. Thank you

Thank you for your valuable feedback, it is always appreciated. So pleased you enjoyed your stay at H Jem and that you are looking forward to visiting us again. We have recently installed an additional key safe, with a brand new front door key, so that may have been the problem. We recently tested it and it worked well but it may need wearing in. The front door key in the original key safe can be used if an alternative key is needed. We were not aware of a problem with the bedroom door handle so will ensure it is repaired, and cleaning products and cloths will be replenished. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Property Owner

  • "This was our third visit to H-Jem, it's beginning to feal like our second home."

We are both really happy with how comfortable the beds etc; are. The kitchen has just about everything you need, although I always take a small non-stick frying pan with me to any house we stay at. Nearly all cottages have seriously damaged frying pans. It's only a short walk down the road to a footpath that takes you down some steps to the beach. Co-Op and a Spar are just a couple of minutes drive away. What's not love.

Thank you very much for your positive feedback, it’s lovely for us to read and truly appreciated. So pleased that you are a returning guest, that’s great feedback in itself! Thanks again and look forward to your next visit Property Owner

  • "This is the smallest bungalow we have stayed in and even though it has facilities for 6 people to sleep and dine, it did not have the room for 6 people to sit comfortably together."

It also only has the one room to sit in and only one television There were no facilities for various age groups and wasn’t equipped for bad weather with games or activities It was also near a main road which is not stated in the description of the property The patio area and garden were good and the beach wasn’t too far for the abled bodied.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I am working with Sykes to resolve all issues where possible. There are 3 seater and 2 seater sofas and a large rocker with cushions. We provide a PS2, games, books and cards. We will add board games and jig-saws. H Jem is adjacent to a road leading into the village but is separated by a large lawn, high fence, shrubbery and a deep grassed area beyond our boundary wall. Apologies for any inconvenience and hope you enjoyed Anglesey and all it has to offer. Property Owner

  • "When viewing the location of the cottage we stayed in Bellech, H Jem, on your map it appears to be close to the bottom of the road, Lon Conwy, near the entrance to the beach road, however, on arrival, the cottage is actually at the top of the road, next to the main coast road around Anglesey."

I think you should be more accurate with your listings regarding location as we had a member of our party who has Asthma and hence we opted for a property close to the bottom of the hill, as per your listing. Perhaps providing the full postcode in the listing would help potential bookings locate the property more accurately.

Thank you for your feedback, I have asked Sykes to amend the property details. Benllech, like most areas of Wales, is naturally hilly so it is difficult to avoid a climb, either from the beach, or to and from the village centre. I do hope you enjoyed your visit to Anglesey and everything it has to offer. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely, relaxing holiday at H Jem."

The bungalow is very comfortable and well equipped. We loved its position, being 10 minutes walk from the beach and 10 minutes walk from the shops, pubs, takeaways and the butchers. It was lovely to be able to leave the car on the drive for a couple of days. The large enclosed garden was perfect for our little dog and it was nice to be able to sit out when the sun shone. It was the perfect base to explore the many lovely places around. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. We hope to return one day.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at H Jem and would like to thank you for your positive feedback. It’s good to hear our efforts are appreciated and we do hope you will visit us again soon. Property Owner

Comfortable and clean, everything you need is in the bungalow,.. Just a couple of criticism poor drainage for sinks and shower hence sink pipes smelt a bit, Step outside back door needs to be larger as quite dangerous. Skirting boards and switch sockets need a good clean but other than that the rest of the bungalow was clean Very enjoyable stay, fantastic weather Thank you for having us

  • "Lovely bungalow with everything we needed."

It’s only a 10 minute walk to the beach which was great in the morning with the dog (although not sure if it is dog friendly all year). Please note the walk back is mostly uphill though - although this was not a problem for me. Due to the dog we normally cook in the accommodation and it had everything we needed. It had a great location in Anglesey to allow us to explore the whole area and beyond. We loved it and there is some stunning scenery in Anglesey to see. Thoroughly recommend!

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and recommendation. We really appreciate it and hope you will return to H Jem for your next Anglesey holiday. Property Owner

  • "Lovely accommodation, great location, they only niggle was at the front of the property which wasn't dog proof ,the wall in the front garden was small and was only covered by bushes, the dogs could easily get through if needed."

It was fine around the back, so long as I was outside with them it wasn't a problem, but you couldn't leave them outside unattended due to being close to a busy road.

Thank you for your positive feedback, it is very much appreciated. The front garden wall is quite low but, apart from one small area in the corner, the shrubbery is over 6 feet high and very dense. Neither of our two dogs have ever been able to ‘escape’ however, I do appreciate that a determined dog, left unattended, would be able to. We have planted more shrubbery in that area and placed a board behind it to secure the garden further whilst it grows. I hope you enjoyed your stay and that you can visit us again soon. • "Property is clean and modern."

However, I should have looked on Google maps before booking as this bungalow is adjacent to main road, making road noise a real issue. Internet is intermittent. If these things aren't a problem for you then this would be a decent place to stay.

Thank you for your feedback, it is very much appreciated. H Jem is adjacent to a main road. We are separated from it by our gardens and a wide grassed area between the boundary wall and the pavement but traffic noise can travel. It is usually only problem at certain times of the day and is generally quiet at night. WiFi on Anglesey, in general, can occasionally be intermittent but it is network wide and not related to H Jem. I apologise for any inconvenience experienced and hope that it did not spoil your holiday. Property Owner

Our two little dogs loved the garden. The kitchen had every utensil you can think of. Close to beach, shops and pubs. The down side was we couldn't use the main bedroom as there is damp behind the drawers at the side of the bed near window. We bought air freshener but didn't help unfortunately so we used the other room.

Thank you for your positive feedback. We will address the damp patch as part of our winter maintenance program. Property Owner

  • "2nd time we’ve been to this cottage, the first time was in 2019 with “STS-holidays”."

Very pleased with the cottage then and even more pleased with it this time. Turning the small bedroom into a proper twin-bedded room instead of a room with bunk beds is a great idea. The kitchen is well equipped. I purchased a small frying pan to replace one that was no longer non-stick, it was only £3+, no big deal. We brought some expandable trellis with us to stretch between the shed and the fuchsia bush. It makes the area at the back for the dog a lot more manageable. I only have one complaint, and it’s a big one. I don’t know who the caretaker/cleaner is, but they need a talking to. Because my partner has the dogs bed in his bedroom (she snores something terrible], and I need quiet in order to sleep. We’d decided prior to arriving that we would each have one of the beds in the twin rooms. Wherever we’ve stayed before all the beds have been made up and a bath and hand towel have been on top of them. We were totally stunned, upset and very angry to discover that the only bed that was made up was the double bed. I phoned the caretakers number that’s on the Sykes information about the cottage. It instantly went over to voicemail, so I left a message, no one got back to me or turned up at the cottage. I ended up sleeping in the twin room by the sunroom. I had to use one of the duvets and pillows without covers on them on the bed, fortunately I bring my own quilt with me. We’re hoping to come again next year, so I hope I don’t have the same problem. How dare they decide our sleeping arrangements for us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are so pleased you like the bungalow and the recent improvements. It was good to also talk to you on the telephone and to apologise for the matter of your sleeping arrangements. Further to my call, resolution was achieved and we look forward to welcoming you back to H Jem in the future. Property Owner
