  • "We were really happy with out stay at Afryn!"

It's a fabulous little cottage in a great area with loads of nearby activities to do. I think the only minor issues we encountered was that there were only 2 bowls in the kitchen and not enough towels for everyone. We were really pleased with what we got for the price and everyone had a fantastic holidays so we would definitely think about staying there again.

Had a great time in your property. Everything was great, ideal. Only issue we found was the ensuit shower mixer seemed very intermediate on temperature. this was such a small issue with us it wasnt worth worrying about as we all had the main bathroom. Once again everything was fantastic.

  • "The cottage is on a narrow road with a lot of parked cars so the two off road parking spaces were very welcome."

There's a step behind the garden gate, careful you don't trip down it! There's also a step down into the lounge, but our two year old grandson soon mastered it. Both bathrooms are downstairs, one in the ensuite double bedroom, one opposite the kitchen, with a huge corner bath and a shower cubicle. Loads of space in the lounge diner and a pretty little garden outside. One double and one single bedroom are upstairs, the second single is downstairs to the side of the stairs and is the smallest room. Easy to cook a meal in the kitchen, with enough pans, utensils etc. There wasn't really enough spare crockery to warrant running the dishwasher. We had a couple of takeaways from the yellow chip shop in Bethesda, tried their pizza, fish and chips and kebabs, all were good. There's a large Londis and a Tesco Express which meant we didn't need to go far for supplies. We had a great holiday, there are lots of places to visit nearby, and Zip World is a 5 minute drive on the other side of the main road.

  • "It was a good cottage with spot-on facilities and a nice enclosed garden perfect for young children - we had two young grandchildren with us."

Nice and clean too, parking for two cars which we had. By no stretch of the imagination is Bethesda a 'picturesque holiday village' but as a base for exploring Snowdonia, Anglesey and other parts of North Wales it was just the job. I can well recommend it.

The cottage is very well kept, TV in all rooms modern TV's in some that have Netflicks and Prime if the weather is very bad. kitchen has many appliances and it seems that if familys leave items that can be re-used ie Tea bags etc, the owner leaves for the next Family to use which is very nice. A welcome pack including with lovely Welsh Cakes. Would recommeded and stay again :-)

The cottage has all mod cons that are easy to use, lots of little extras like family board games, Welsh cakes and wine. There are plenty of activities and shops close by and the cottage is the perfect base to visit all the sites of Snowdonia national park. I would definitely recommend staying at this cottage, we wished we had booked longer!!!

  • "We were delighted with this cottage."

It was clean, bright and spacious, we were a family of five with three teenage boys, so having a room each was brilliant. The cottage was beautifully decorated with tasteful furnishings and the log fire perfect for those chilly evenings too. We would totally recommend it to anyone, we could not have wished for more. The location was perfect, just off the A5 which meant exploring what this fabulous part of the country has to offer was ideal. We climbed Snowdon, visited four of the Edward 1st castles, went to Bangor, Llandudno, the Snowdonia National Park and even Chester, it was so accessible. We were made very welcome by the owner and appreciated the wine and the scones after our long journey from the south of England. Thank you very much - we hope to be back in the near future.

It was well equipped and we had a very comfortable stay. There are some outstandingly beautiful walks very nearby. We found the walk up Snowden overcrowded so would not do that again. A visit to the hidden gardens on Anglesey was a highlight especially if you are there at 2pm for the gardener talk.

About the location

Bangor 6 miles; Caernarfon 10 miles.

Bethesda is a small town settled beside the River Ogwen in North Wales. Situated on the A5 between Bangor and the Snowdonia National Park, Bethesda was once a busy slate quarrying town and nowadays offers a good selection of shops and other amenities, in particular a number of chapels and pubs. The beautiful mountainous scenery of Snowdonia borders Bethesda, with the Lôn Las Ogwen cycling and walking paths skirting past. For the more adventurous, why not visit Zip World in Bethesda which is known for having Europe’s fastest and longest zip line. Capel Curig, just ten miles away, is a popular centre for walking, climbing and mountain biking, whilst Llanberis is situated at the foot of Mount Snowdon and is home to the Snowdon Mountain Railway and the National Slate Museum. Cwm Idwal is also a wonderful spot to visit, situated in northern Snowdonia – Darwin came to study the area and found tiny fossils of oceanic plant life and sea creatures in the boulders and rocks. The coastal town of Caernarfon is just a short drive away as is the beautiful Isle of Anglesey and the Anglesey Coastal Path. Visitors to the area can also explore the castles of Caernarfon and Beaumaris and the NT stately homes of Penrhyn Castle and Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens. Spend the day at one of the many traditional seaside resorts, or discover the isolated, hidden beaches on Anglesey, much of which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With spectacular scenery on the doorstep, wonderful wildlife with buzzards soaring overhead and the occasional Peregrine Falcon to be seen, and many exciting outdoor adventures to discover nearby, Bethesda is superbly located for enjoying both the coast and the countryside of stunning North Wales.
