  • "Excellent cottage/barn conversion with high quality fittings and finishing."

Good internal decor and artworks. Warm and cosy with underfloor central heating and wood burner. Ideal central location for visiting all over Anglesey with nearby Llangefni providing a good range of supermarkets and shops. An issue with bedding on arrival was promptly sorted by Sykes and the owner.

Many thanks for your kind feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the Beudy and look forward to welcoming you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Perfectly nice property, just lacking in a couple of areas as mentioned in other reviews."

The cleaning just isn't as good as it should be for a holiday rental. We had to hoover crumbs and sweet wrappers out of the sides and back of the sofas. Not just from the last occupant, you can tell when it's historic. We may not do it regularly in our own home, but then we aren't charging people to stay in our home. Outside, I'm not sure if it's a working farm or not, but the area around the rental could do with a bit more upkeep. The track is easily passable but we were scraping brambles driving in and out. Twenty minutes with a strimmer wouldn't hurt; we don't all drive Land Rovers etc. A lack of maintenance also, lots of blown bulbs (none of the spares in the drawer were compatible, some were already used and blown) and difficult to open doors (Bifold and main bedroom). Didn't bother us so much, but required some time and brute force, others may not be as capable. It's obviously run by the owners, there is no 'team', they just need to step their game up a level or two and they would have a top notch rental. We enjoyed our stay, and this isn't a complaint, just trying to help both customer and owner.

Thanks for the feedback, we do want to make sure that our guests have the best stay at the Beudy and have acted on your feedback. We do pass on your comment to the cleaners to improve the cleanliness and we will be reviewing their performance at the end of the year. Likewise with the gardener, this will be reviewed again at the end of the year and we are planning to add more planting to the patio area too to make if more homely. We do share the track into the Beudy with the farmer and our neighbours and we will check up on the overall maintenance. I will ask the carpenter to easy the bi-fold door and to review the sliding door to the bedrooms. With natural materials they are prone to expanding and distorting. An electrician will be visiting shortly too to look at the fittings and the bulbs that have blow. We are pleased that you enjoyed your time at the Beudy Property Owner

I found the location easily I had no problem with access track although I do have a 4x4. Asda delivery driver had no problem either. Lovely and quiet. Very spacious and clean bedding and towels. Just a suggestion for the owner the oven could do with a professional deep clean and some tea and coffee starter backs left would be great. Had a great comfortable stay lovely quiet location. Made a friend with the chicken.

Many thanks for your kind feedback it is much appreciated. We did pass on the comment to the cleaner about the oven. We will be looking to add a welcome pack soon and we have introduced a metal food store for receiving home deliveries of local produce. There are more details in the updated manual. We hope to welcome you back in the near future. Property Owner

  • "Very difficult to find and impossible in the dark."

Instructions could be improved. Sign needed on road and on property. No indication you have arrived, photos don’t help.Entrance drive is overgrown and not maintained, rough track and overgrown brambles scratch car. Whole property looks unkempt, weeds growing through driveway, gutters overflowing and broken patio furniture left on site. Inside, dusty and dead insects which I can live with in a country setting though kitchen and bathroom floors had not been swept of food, tissues etc. Kitchen a disgrace, dishwasher full of slime and filter not cleaned, smell was awful. Oven filthy, greasy, burnt on grease and terrible smell. Dirty pans and cutlery in drawers/cupboards. No cleaning cloths or materials provided so I couldn’t deal with it. I rang Sykes to complain. Someone came on day 2 and simply ran the dishwasher, didn’t clean the slime and gunge from filter and didn’t touch oven or pans. Information in cottage on waste collection is nonsense, owner doesn’t provide appropriate bins for waste collection in line with Anglesey Council collection system. Information provided about the area is poor, just a few commercial leaflets and suggests unfamiliarity or disinterest in updating and providing good experience for visitors. Only one pillow each so no choice re firmness. Could be so lovely, private, interesting conversion, warm. Loads of hot water, nature all around but failures of cleaning and general obvious lack of maintenance and interest by owners spoils it. Would not visit again. Also would add that trying to get hold of Sykes in person isn’t easy, they then just refer to the owner and didn’t take responsibility. We received no apology from owner or Sykes.

Many thanks for your feedback, and I apologise for the Beudy not meeting your expectations. I was only notified of the cleanliness issues on Monday evening, which did not give me the opportunity to rectify the problem that day. I discussed the cleanliness issues with the cleaner the following morning, they should have addressed the items that you raised. I will be working hard with my team to pick up the remaining points noted. I am committed to making sure that all our guests enjoy their stay at the Beudy. The property is secluded and arriving at night is challenging. We will renew the bollard lighting in the garden to make it easier for our guests to find the property as you noted. We can update the house manual. The bins are collected by a private company as the Council do not collect beyond the public highway. We will renew the leaflets as you kindly suggested. We were pleased that you enjoyed the surrounding nature around the Beudy. Property Owner

Farm track to property difficult needs levelling /cut unless you drive 4x4. - would benefit from a sign at entrance. Poor quality garden furniture with a chair broken in what could be a lovely courtyard. BBQ broken and rusty. A wild flower garden sounds lovely but a grass front would give kerb appeal. Lots of potential but outside area need some TLC. .

We were pleased that you enjoyed the Beudy and styling. Many thanks for the feedback, I have added new sturdy metal chairs to the patio. The BBQ was left by an earlier guest, and it will be replaced with a more durable version. The farm track is shared with our neighbours and the farmer, I will discuss some improvements with them. The wildflower meadow does present challenges in maintaining a natural outlook that can be shared and enjoyed, and keeping the spring / summer growth in check. I will review with the gardener. • "Just had a great 7 night stay in this wonderfully quiet location."

Good conversion with an industrial look. Comfy chairs with new cushions to give an extra splash of colour. Well fitted out kitchen but no welcome pack of tea, coffee and milk so be sure to keep some handy for when you arrive. You will however, be welcomed by two cheeky chickens. The folder giving information about the property and wi-fi code had been put in the small pull out unit by the washing machine. This could do with being left on the worktop by the cleaners. Lovely wild flower area to front and side for butterflies and other insects. Goldfinches were feeding on seeds. Old buildings at rear for more wildlife. Don’t book this property and expect a pristine environment. There is a short walk through the field behind to a wood or extend the walk to a nature reserve. Just a few maintenance issues. Thought the patio door was locked but it is just the top slider that is stiff to pull down. The bottom slider does not go all the way down. The main door into the property is difficult to lock from the outside, it needs a push to be able to turn the key. Two clean tea towels are provided but they have seen better days. The garden furniture is flimsy and inadequate for 5 people and one of the four chairs is broken. This is the only thing that lets the property down especially for people paying premium summer prices.

Many thanks for your kind feedback and for your great wildlife spotting, it was wonderful to hear all the different species you found. Thanks for persevering with the wooden doors, the change of seasons does make them move a bit. I will check with the carpenter if they need to be eased. The tea towels are changed frequently and there will be additional linen and towels in the sofa bed storage. I have added new sturdy metal chairs for the patio to replace the damaged wooden chair. ...we really enjoyed our 4 night stay. One minor point to make is that there was no 'welcome pack' provided...not a problem in itself but a bit inconvenient as we arrived quite late so remember to take the basics (tea, coffee, milk, bread, toiletries, etc.) with you if you can.

We were please to hear that you had enjoyed your stay at the Beudy. We have been gradually stocking up the Beudy with some communal storage jars for tea and coffee and we will try to keep these topped up for our guests. We are also trying to source local food for a welcome pack, and we have recently joined a local food network with a welcome pack / holiday hamper. We will keep you posted. Cottage was good (not very good) and our stay was nice (not great). Agree with a previous reviewer re lack of general soft touches/furnishings Kitchen kit adequate - certainly nothing special. Patio area and furniture of poor standard - not inviting. Love the wild flower meadow outside but remainder of the outside not well tended to - bit more wild, than intentionally wilded.

Many thanks for your detailed feedback. We are pleased that you liked the Beudy. Many of the Beudy’s features are hidden and support a wider sustainable approach to building and living. There is also minimalist approach to finishing the Beudy. The kitchen does have high quality energy efficient appliances, to follow our sustainable aims. Soft furnishings are on order and should be in the Beudy shortly. We are pleased that you enjoyed the wildflowers. Unfortunately, the gardener’s lawnmower had broken down, it is now repaired and the back lawn will look much neater. Property Owner

The overall property internal cleanliness and external presentation were below my expectation. It just needs a bit more tlc. soft furnishing and pillows, etc were not comfortable at all. But the property provides a really good space. We had a decent time there.

Many thanks for the detailed feedback, we are grateful for your input to help us improve our barn. We have been moving slowly from our cautious Covid approach to providing tea and coffee in the barn, and our intention would be provide communal jars to share these with all our guests. For a more formal welcome pack, this has been logistically difficult in the past, but we are in discussion with local suppliers that may be able to provide local produce for guests in the near future. Watch this space! We have recently cleaned the exterior and interior and will endeavor to provide improve the standard. We can provide more soft furnishing to help guests enjoy their stay, thanks for the tip. We are pleased that overall you enjoyed your stay at the Beudy and the island. Property Owner

The high chair was dirty so had to clean that cobwebs in the bathroom and had to clean the bath before we gave our grandson a bath and the toilet brush was disgusting. Pans and utensils still had dried on food stuck to them so any we used had to be cleaned first. Bowl in the kitchen sink and bin in the second room also dirty all the kitchen cupboards were dirty inside as well as the ones in the bedroom we could tell they hadn’t been cleaned as we found 2 pairs of socks that someone had left dirty. We understand it’s a farm and the chickens were lovely but the chicken poo everywhere isn’t good because it’s not cleaned up so if you stand in it your walking it into the property. The property is lovely but the cleaning let’s it down massively

Thanks for the detailed feedback and sorry to hear that there were a number of cleaning issues. I have raised these shortcomings with the cleaner and we will be working together to ensure that all these are points are addressed. There is now a new toilet brush in place. The chickens belong to our neighbours, although they do tend to spend a lot of time around the Beudy as you noted! I have asked the gardener to sweep the droppings off the paving, decking and patio. The cleaning contractor will be reviewed at the end of the season. I am pleased that you had an enjoyable stay and I will work with the cleaner to improve the cleaning. Property Owner

Really great to get your feedback. I am working with the cleaners to make sure the Beudy is in a good clean condition for our guests, and I will monitor this throughout the summer. I am looking forward to topping up and sharing the cooking and living essentials: salt, pepper and some tea bags and coffee. I recall having to take all these out at the start of pandemic! • "The property is a beautiful barn conversion done to a high standard."

There was plenty of equipment in the kitchen, good WiFi, tv etc. We would have preferred a king bed to the standard double. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed being visited by the hens (we didn’t feed them). However, we were disappointed to find no cleaning materials whatsoever, only empty bottles in the drawer, no washing up liquid, j cloths or the like. All properties I’ve ever rented have had these basics. In addition the oven was very grubby and the grill pan appeared never to have been cleaned. The wood burning stove which we didn’t use still contained all the ash from a previous occupant. There was talk of a welcome pack on the note on the wall but this did not exist - not even a dishwasher tab to start you off. It was a shame to see such a lovely property let down by a lack of attention. Despite this our holiday was very enjoyable.

Many thanks for your feedback, we really value your comments. These will help us to improve our guest’s experience at the Beudy. It was a pity that the cleaning products had not been replenished before your visit. I also note the cleanliness issues that were raised. I can confirm that additional cleaning items have been ordered and should be in place last weekend. I have also discussed the cleaning items with the cleaner, who will action these points. The cottage was lovely throughout. Plenty of space and they had thought of most things. I would definitely stay again. The chickens outside were a particular treat! They were very friendly indeed which our Son loved. If I were to make any suggestions it would be to change the double bed for a king or superking as I had to use one of the single beds instead of sharing with my husband as we’re so used to a superking at home. The bath became very slippery once wet so perhaps some traction grips and a handrail would be beneficial. Those are the only things I can possibly suggest to improve the stay and I only mention those as a help to the owners. It was wonderful there and I would recommend it to all my friends. Infact I have! You won’t be disappointed. The log burner is particularly wonderful. The location is also perfect!

Plenty of towels and extra blankets (had we needed them), although the barn was very warm at night so weren’t cold at all. Was great to have the kitchen essentials such as washing up liquid, bin liners etc. I took our own tea towels etc but there were some provided. Disappointed that we couldn’t open the bi fold doors out onto the patio. It did state in the manual that they were very stiff and was hesitant to push them too hard for fear of breaking them. We had lovely weather so was just a pity we couldn’t make use of them while having breakfast etc. Only other small issue was (and appreciate that it’s a barn so will get dusty, but there were lots of thick cobwebs, we actually hoovered on the second day to get rid of them) may be that our standards are too high, as overall was a really lovely holiday and we would definitely return. An ironing board or iron is also not provided. We also brought our own fan as it was Summer and we are so glad we did as the cottage is very warm. Also, the cottage has no WiFi or land-line and we struggled to get any form of mobile phone signal inside the property. We didn't mind as it was family time but it's worth noting.
