The wonderful total isolation, the stunning views, the natural environment and watching the wildlife - mainly birds some quite rare like the choughs sitting outside in family groups in the field next to the Shepherd's Hut. The wonderful total isolation, the stunning views, the natural environment and watching the wildlife - mainly birds some quite rare like the choughs sitting outside in family groups in the field next to the Shepherd's Hut. A delight to wake up to the sounds of cows, sheep and birds. Definitely a place to 'stand and stare'. You need binoculars to benefit most from this; amazingly a small pair were provided. For the delights of a true dark sky I benefitted from having my own binoculars. Zero light pollution. Zero any pollution. Glorious skies but especially at sunrise and sunset. Loved the isolation from other people and especially not having any WiFi and only very occasional signals i.e. 3G and 4G. A real digital detox. Many lovely walks in the area, and some even quite challenging like Holy Mountain but all perfectly safe for a woman - of a certain age! - on her own. Very generous and hospitable proprietor/farmer. Perfect accommodation for anyone needing to escape the mayhem and madness of modern city life. Easy to get to - London to Holyhead by train - no car - just shank's pony! Ideal escape to reboot the system. Thank you.

Bodwarren Farm

Holyhead 1.3 miles. These six lovely properties are set on the owners’ 70 acre working livestock farm, in a rural location, close to the town and ferry port of Holyhead on Anglesey. With stunning sea and mountain views that can be seen from the farm, these holiday homes are ideal for couples, families and friends with a number of attractions and places to visit within easy reach. Y Wennol and Y Wylan offer single-storey accommodation and both sleep two people, whilst Y Barcud and Bran Goesgoch sleep six each. All properties share a courtyard area to park cars, and four have an enclosed garden with a lawned area, patio and furniture whilst the two huts provide peaceful decked balconies, a perfect setting to enjoy an alfresco dinner at the end of the day. Although these charming retreats are in quiet location, there’s something for everyone nearby, including a visit to the town of Holyhead which has remains of Roman town walls and forts, a colourful marina, maritime museum, shops and pubs. Holyhead is also a main ferry point for Ireland, so a day trip to Dublin may be on the cards! Also close by is the Breakwater Country Park, a former quarry, from where you may be able to spot seals who visit the Holyhead coast. Just over three miles away is the resort of Trearddur Bay, with its sandy beaches and watersports. Other places of interest are cliff top walks over Holyhead Mountain, and South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve is well worth a visit. All this and much, much more can enjoyed from these welcoming holiday homes.

About the location

HOLYHEAD

Trearddur Bay 3 miles.

The bustling town of Holyhead rests on the North West coast of the Isle of Anglesey, the largest town on the island and perhaps known best for being the main ferry port to Ireland. Steeped in history, the town boasts the remains of Roman town walls and forts, medieval burial chambers and stone village foundations. Explore the Breakwater Country Park, a former quarry, which offers designated walks through the grounds. The park is full of interesting wildlife, most notably the seals who visit the Holyhead coast, and outlines the amazing construction of the world's longest breakwater, some 1.8 miles, which today protects the harbour. Visit the colourful marina with its yachts and tall ships, or the town's maritime museum, with its tales of 100 shipwrecks in the vicinity. Day trips to Ireland can be enjoyed easily from here, with Dublin just 90 minutes away on the fast ferry. With spectacular cliff top walks over Holyhead Mountain, golden sandy beaches at the award winning Trearddur Bay and the Snowdonia National Park just a 20 minute drive away, this is a superb holiday location, at any time of the year.
