The beds are very comfortable and the grounds are large and lovely, the hot tub is fun if you like that sort of thing. There are many beautiful places within easy reach. However, there are one or two small things which you would expect in such a nice cottage and some discrepancies with the description. When the description says there are 4 televisions this is not the case, there are actually 3. Not an issue for us but someone else might find this important. Secondly, when it says towels are provided this is partially correct. Bath towels are provided but no hand towels! We rang the reception to ask for hand towels assuming this was an ommission to be told they do not do hand towels. To be fair they did provide us with more bath towels but as there are few places to hang the large towels it is not ideal. Do you not expect people to wash and dry their hands? Likewise no tea towel for drying up any items you need to quickly wash up and use - just a handtowel in the kitchen (ironically). As another reviewer stated the lighting in the living room is woeful - it is very dark in such a big room this could easily be remedied as there are plenty of sockets to plug some more powerful lamps in. When we arrived at 1540 the linen from the last residents was still bagged up outside the cottage, and the maintenance chap was servicing/checking the hot tub - again no big issue for us but check in is from 1500. Finally, we found people from the holidaypark walked right up to the garden gate which lead to the lake and in one instance walked right into the garden, when challenged argued that as it was a rental property owned by the park it was their right to walk through the garden. The reception did say they would put a private sign on the gate to prevent this happening but it may explain why I found dog poo bags left on the wall. It is not really correct either to describe the jetty as private as it is within the area outside the garden that all park users have access to. For such a high spec cottage it is a shame the welcome pack is very disappointing - like the tea tray in a travel lodge! I would have expected some nice local produce or a bottle of wine perhaps - we have been spoilt by some really excellent welcome packs previously - and also it would be nice if basic things like bread, milk, cooking oil, etc were provided as no-one wants to take these things on holiday. Also some local information on days out, good places to eat etc., would be really handy, or a visitor's book so that guests can leave handy hints and recommendations for other guests. Having said all that these were small issues and I mention them so that what is a lovely cottage can be made even more comfortable. I would certainly recommend it for a family and for dogs - ours enjoyed their stay very much. We would certainly recommend a stay here.

About the location

Llanberis 2 miles; Caernarfon 4 miles; Betws-y-Coed 15 miles.

Llanrug is a small village with two pubs, two shops, a Post Office, a hotel with indoor swimming pool and fitness room, and a 9 hole golf course is nearby. The village is situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, only 3 miles from famous Llanberis. Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis is something of a 'mecca' for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Llanberis boasts excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 4 miles from Llanrug, on the coast, is Caernarfon with its magnificent 13th century castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd and many wonderful beaches.
