  • "This has the potential to be a lovely place to stay; it’s a spacious house, for the most part attractively furnished, in an excellent location."

We didn’t find the road to be a problem, and the parking was also fine (room to turn around for our normal-sized car). However, there were lots of niggles. • We arrived to a cold house (and the strip blinds on the windows didn’t help to keep the cold out). The storage heaters were all turned off, and they took a whole day to start giving out heat. It was difficult to understand how they worked, and we had to turn the bedroom ones off because they came on at night. • There was no welcome pack or written information/instructions for anything in the house. • The reed diffusers in the bedroom were furry with grey mould. One of the bedrooms also smelled of damp. • The soft furnishings smelled unpleasant; the cushions need washing and the sofa and armchair need a deep clean. • The double beds were saggy and uncomfortable. They both had mattress-toppers, but that didn’t help with the sagginess or the noise made whenever we moved; we ended up sleeping in separate rooms. • Two of the four bedside lamps didn’t work, and one of the working ones was constantly flickering. • There was somebody’s leftover mouldy coffee in the coffee machine, and a dog-ball behind the armchair – which suggested that the cleaning wasn’t very thorough. Overall I felt the place was sadly neglected and, as an earlier reviewer commented, unloved.

  • "Gorgeous well presented house in a very secluded peaceful location."

Local pub about 15 minutes walk away (take a torch) and Llanberis only a short drive away. Nice decor throughout and very comfy beds. Tight squeeze in the bathroom/toilet and some damp in the lounge and bathroom which does need dealing with, but otherwise lovely. Kitchen is very well appointed with everything you need, and tons of dvds and board games to keep everyone entertained. The tiny narrow windy roads are not for the faint hearted but would definitely recommend if you want a cosy relaxing break

The location is perfect to discover the Wales (Snowdonia off the LlÅ·n peninsula). We miss a washmachine (for the regio, it should be usefull). For the rest, we had all what we need. For me the narrow lane was terrific but my man had no problem with that.

The house was very cold on the first night, as the heating was not on. The only thing that would of improved our stay, would be a lick of paint through the house, as it does look quite tiered. Would we come back again, yes, its a nice place to base yourself, and is nice and quiet. Thank you. Gareth

  • "Lovely homely cottage."

Everything you need to relax, cook and unwind here. We had read a previous review about this place and after staying here it is apparent that the person clearly had some agenda as their comments were not true. The place was clean and comfortable. Access is tight yes, as mentioned in the properly description; the lanes are extremely narrow, however this enables a feeling of tranquility and peace once in the cottage and there are some lovely local walks in the area. Something you would not get if located near busy roads. The isolation is in fact a bonus to the cottage, and is certainly not the cottage owners fault about the narrow lanes. We will definitely be returning. Owner is lovely and phoned to check everything was OK. We used the cottage as a base to get to Anglesey, Llandudno and of course Llanberis lake as we have a motor boat. Much fun on the water, great holiday!

  • "This is a neglected, run-down property."

Neighbours complained to us re the state of the retaining wall, parts of which have collapsed into the very narrow road & they are having to repair because owners don't answer messages. The gutters and roof are full of debris that falls down into the entrance patio. The parking is a long way away, especially when bringing luggage and groceries, and is uneven with potholes & rocks. Takes an 8-point turn to turn a single car around. Not suitable for 2 cars or any car low to the ground. We had to park the other vehicle down the street, about 400m away. Rear entrance is overgrown. House is grimy, needs a complete makeover. No towel rails in either bathroom, shower leaks into lounge, shower/bath is revolting & old, basic items are missing e.g. chopping board, washing machine, wine glasses, serving spoons, Pyrex dishes for the oven and microwave. Some cupboard shelves are missing. Oven and stove are old and dirty, oven smokes when switched on that is how filthy it is. But there are 3 tin openers??? Floorboards are lumpy & warped in many places, H&S hazard waiting to happen. Worst cottage I have ever stayed in. Not impressed to see this sort of cottage on Sykes website, I thought you dealt in decent holiday accommodation. Feel completely ripped off.

  • "Firstly I would like to say we had a great holiday."

The house is lovely, set in a very quiet isolated location, and in easy reach of both Snowdonia and Anglesey. Also the garden gets all the evening sun. And very good value for money. A few things that can make it better though. In the children's bedroom the thermostat makes a constant noise stopping the kids from sleeping. As result we had to move both kids into the second double bedroom. The parking spot was horrible and battered my car about. It wouldn't take much to level it out. Finally child safety is a bit of an issue. It is stated that the garden isn't secure and we were OK with that. But it just needs a gate/ small fence to make it secure. But the landing banisters are really low, making it dangerous for children to topple over.

  • "Brin Tyrion was well presented, well stocked with everything we could want and in a lovely quiet location."

It is ideally located for anyone who wants to explore North Wales. I would definitely consider using the property again. There are however 3 points I would highlight to potential holidaymakers: 1. The cottage is accessed via a very narrow lane with no passing places. It is not a busy lane but we met 2 cars and a tractor and had to reverse out of the lane each time; 2. The car park will take 2 cars but is surrounded by hedges and steep banks and was quite a job to get 2 cars on it. It might be hard to get 2 larger cars on the site and there was a large pothole at the entrance to the car park that you could not miss as the access was tight. 3. The advice is to park and carry your bags etc. to the house, it is circa 100 yards if you have to carry heavy bags.

  • "A fantastic property which is tucked away off the beaten track but close enough to civilisation that you don’t feel alienated."

The Lane to the property is very tight and the parking bay requires some tarmac as there are grooves in the ground making it difficult to get tyre grip. The property was perfect for our family and very spacious and had most of the basic essentials required. The garden is lovely and a great sun trap. The location is fantastic as we had easy trips to Anglesey, Caernarfon and Llanberis to explore. Lovely walks from the property in all directions which was a bonus. We will hopefully return one day to enjoy this property.

  • "House is in a tranquil setting and we appreciated the beautiful quietness."

A great base for days out. We appreciated the provision of such a wide collection of DVDs and games (both board and electronic). Care needed with the shower (in the bath) as water can get in the bath seal and drip into the lounge below. This is not a new problem, judging by the stain on the ceiling. With two double beds and a bunk bed, this property can sleep 5-6 people. However, drying towels after showers or baths is problematic as there is only one small towel rail in the unheated bathroom. We got by as we did not need to dry any clothes. The storage heater timer in the bunk bedroom is very noisy and could do with boxing/soundproofing. One last point should be a reference to the narrow country road. It was a tight squeeze for our medium family saloon (Audi A4), suffering scratches from brambles in the process. As advertised, the parking is 100m away but you can unpack outside the house steps – provided another vehicle doesn’t come down the road. A three-point turn is a challenge. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our week here.

We ventured out every day to somewhere new within a 40 minute radius so that we didn't spend to much time in the car and it worked a treat. so many places to see. Walking the dogs down the lanes and to the castle was nice and peaceful. The only thing I would point out is that the lane up to the cottage can be challenging to say the least. Definitely wing mirrors in all the way...apart from that, a very nice and pleasant cottage.

The location was absolutely perfect. It was within easy reach of both the beach and mountains. We will definitely be back. • "Was looking for a comfy cottage for my two boys and dog to relax after this crazy pandemic before starting school again and it didn’t disappoint."

A trip that will stay with us forever. What an amazing cottage with everything you could possibly need, a real home away from home. Endless DVDs and board games which kept us entertained. Great views and walks close by. We got absolutely soaked on one of our walks and it was great to come back to the log fire. I bought my own wood to get me started and a bag of kindling cost £2.50 from the local garage. The electric heaters didn’t really work upstairs, downstairs was fine but after sitting in front of the fire all evening then jumping into the comfy bed with a thick duvet it wasn’t cold. My only issue was the lane getting to the cottage it was very very tight, wing mirrors in every time. There is a decent parking place with room to turn and then a small walk to the back gate. Even with the narrow lane which I knew before booking, it still wouldn’t stop me from booking again. I’m already planning my next trip

Comfortable and clean in a lovely area with great views. Narrow lane leading to property needs some negotiating, large cars may find it difficult. Only problem was storage heating was inadequate and had to spend another £60.00 on logs and coal. Of course this is a personal thing and we did spend most of the time in the house. Anyone using it as a base may not find it a problem. Would definitely consider booking again.

  • "The cottage was nice, however access was not simple."

... Lanes are single track and walled so be prepared for a tight and tricky drive. Views were obscured downstairs by bushes, view from 2 main rooms was beautiful. Everything we needed was there a varied collection of DvD's and radio for the kitchen, sadly no fuel for the fire and it was so very cold without the fire. There are so many attractions to visit history, architecture and of course the mountain range. So quiet so pretty. Had to call the property owner for assistance (we got lost) and they were absolutely lovely.

Llanrug is a small village with two pubs, two shops, a Post Office, a hotel with indoor swimming pool and fitness room, and a 9 hole golf course is nearby. The village is situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, only 3 miles from famous Llanberis. Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis is something of a 'mecca' for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Llanberis boasts excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 4 miles from Llanrug, on the coast, is Caernarfon with its magnificent 13th century castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd and many wonderful beaches.
