  • "I realise now how lucky we were to get this property, because it is booked far in advance and I can understand why."

This property is absolutely amazing! We stayed here for a 40th birthday girls weekend, and had a superb stay. The cottage is to a very high spec with all facilities that you would expect. It is only a 10-15 min drive to Menai Bridge if you want a meal out, otherwise you don't need to leave the cottage. If this review doesn't sell you on this amazing property, then the view will, I could have looked at it all day. Fabulous being able to see Carnarvon Castle over the Strait. I can not recommend this property enough, and we wouldn't hestate to book again.

  • "This was a wonderful long weekend break."

The location could not be more stunning. Wonderful rustic boat house with plenty to remember. We had concerns about previous reviews in terms of feedback with the hot tub and cleanliness. The bathrooms and bedrooms were spotless, upstairs could have had more of a deep clean (but nothing that took away from our break away). The hot tub could be tricky if you are not used to using them. (It had to be filled regularly and temperature had to be monitored) but we had little to complain about sitting in the hot tub with the spectacular views. All in all this was a great find in Anglesey and we would book again in a heartbeat. (We believe the property is being sold so we hope the property will be used as a holiday letting in the future).

Have stopped at this property a many times. Decking area could do with some attention. Needs jet washing. Can become slippery in parts. Hot tub extremely strong with chlorine . Pale blue costume turned to white. Property Did not feel as damp. New fluffy white towels was good. On the whole great stay. .

The wine and cakes were much appreciated as were the flowers. The kitchen is well stocked, the bedrooms comfortable, a slightly larger TV would have been nice. There is several outside areas to sit and enjoy. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "Positives- location, location, location."

Beautiful spot with fantastic views, House was spacious and bright with lovely dining area and had a nice look to it. However, it is tired and needs a refresh and a good clean, particularly in the kitchen. The outside area was tatty and we were really disappointed in the hot tub, so much so we didn’t go in it, we have never stayed anywhere where the guests are expected to check the water and it looked like it was just full of chemicals, so not worth the risk which was frustrating a the price we paid was definitely premium… The sofas and beds were uncomfortable and downstairs was damp which whilst we got used to it wasn’t ideal. Fully appreciate the breezy location and design of the house make these things likely but the high price does not reflect on what you get. All in all it’s a lovely house in a fantastic location but just needs a bit of a refresh or a price that reflects how it is.

  • "The property itself is stunning and the views from both the terrace and the front garden are beautiful."

If you haven’t been it’s very worth a visit, we are already talking about going back again. Almost everything you need other than wifi, which was sort of a blessing as we genuinely did switch off from the outside world. Decent supermarket about 25 minutes away, would probably recommend doing a shop in Bangor on your way save having to go back out again once you arrive. Highly recommend either way!

  • "Initial impressions were good."

The building looks great and would have been amazing when it was first let out. It has stunning views and is well equipped. The furniture is good quality however some of it now needs changed or repaired. Generally not very clean, cobwebs everywhere, Venetian blinds thick with dust windows had loads of hand prints, kitchen handles had marks/dried food on them. There was food left in freezer and potatoes in cupboard which surprised me as the property is vacated at 9am to allow a ‘deep clean’ before the next guests. The previous guests are asked to remove all food, rubbish and strip the beds so it’s really only checking and cleaning that is required. I had a missed call from a representative from Sykes who offered to have someone come and clean it again however this was on the Monday afternoon and we went in on Friday. I wasn’t able to get through on the phone and I had already cleaned the areas that concerned me. I sent them an email to advise them of the issues than need to be addressed. The windows are difficult to open and close the handles are loose and concerned that they might come loose. Can’t pull up some of the blinds without the chance of breaking the cords Kitchen is a bit tired but well stocked with crockery and cutlery. Decking boards on upper terrace in poor condition and chances of splinters if bare footed. The worst area is near the hot tub and it’s rotting/collapsed and needs replaced. There is also a small stepped area (2-3 inches) which is easy to miss, we have stumbled on it more than once. It looks like it was originally painted white but that had worn off. Hot tub lid difficult to get off (a two person job) as not attached to the poles/mechanism that operate it. The filter flap keeps floating freely in the tub and strange black things floating in the tub after jets have been on, could be bits off the lid as it is in poor condition and looks like it’s disintegrating. The chlorine was also off the scale and we couldn’t use it till the Monday. Outdoor settee upstairs , collapsed in the middle. One of the chairs for the outdoor dining table is very wobbly and could easily break and cause injury At least 3 indoor Dining room chairs are very wobbly and dangerous Damp smell downstairs and the bed in en-suite room feels damp too, this improved after a couple of days with the heater on. Towels also felt damp but had a fresh clean smell however they are old, crispy and covered in off putting brown marks. The outdoor metal table and chairs on small balcony are badly rusted. Once we cleaned the main touch points and got over the damp smell downstairs we managed to settle in. When we got home and unpacked it was clear that our clothes were all damp. The property needs a good clean and a bit of work done on it but I assume that won’t be done now as the property is on the market for sale. I would use Sykes holidays before but wouldn’t rush back to this one.

The property itself was clean and welcoming and had everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The four bedroom are lovely, perfect for a family with the twin and a single. The twin isn't that roomy so probably not ideal for two adults. Overall we had a great stay, the only thing that could have improved it would be the addition of WiFi at the property. We had a couple of very wet days so had to stay in and with all games and DVD's being removed from the property due to Covid-19 it would have made it easier to entertain the children in our party. However not an big issue for us as we had brought some boardgames of our own.

  • "This was our second stay at Boathouse and Mooring and everything was as good as last time, which we think was about 9 years ago."

It is a great location. Lovely views across the Straits and very quiet apart from a walker or two passing by on the Coast Path. Having the log burner is a real bonus as it was frosty on one of the evenings. The heating was also useful and as the bedrooms are pretty small it was cosy downstairs too. Everything was clean and lots of kitchen implements provided. WIFI was free if you have a BT account otherwise it can be purchased. We were able to enjoy a morning coffee and pastry at Halen Môn's TIDE takeaway, which is a fifteen minute stroll away and as it was a weekend. They have a super shop too. The property is in a good place for visiting most of the island but the west coast is our favourite. We would be happy to return again at some point.

The living space and kitchen upstairs were well designed with plenty of crockery. Of particular note was the dining room with balcony off, with spectacular views. All the family enjoyed the hot tub and the proximity to the beach for exploring and walks. However, the downstairs bedrooms do have some low beams and smell damp. The en-suite bathroom needs a little better ventilation, and grout cleaning. The decking by the hot tub needs replacing and the whole area a refurb. Some of the vents in the hot tub were loose. The garden at front is useful for bbqs. All in all a great family holiday home in a unique location, just needs a bit of attention towards the end of the season.

  • "The cottage is in a great location with stunning views towards the North Wales coast."

The cottage it self is looking a little tired but very well cleaned. The ground floor where the bedrooms and bathroom are situated has stone floors and the bedding and towels felt damp when we arrived. The upstairs is light and airy and very pleasant. We were surprised that there is a washing machine but no tumble drier which would have been very useful given the fact that there is no way of drying bath towels after showering unless you put the heating on (which we ended up doing daily). There were no kitchen scissors in the house but the kitchen area was well catered apart from that. We had a lovely week but not sure we would rush back.

The facilities were fantastic especially the hot tub and the log burner. The decor suits the house and it’s charm.Comfortably suited for 7 guests and having 4 bedrooms was great for us as there were no need to mess with sofa beds. The only thing I found was the en suite shower tiles were in need of a deep clean and it would also benefit from another comfy chair in the living area but none of this would prevent a future booking. The host left flowers wine and cake which we found a lovely touch. There has been lots of thought put into what makes a great stay like the DVD collection. This property didn’t offer any WiFi which we thought might cause a problem with an 11 year old but game us the opportunity to do other stuff but this did cause a slight issue as our phone signals were weak.We had a wonderful stay and the fact that storm Jorge was providing challenging weather it didn’t stop us having a great stay.

The locations is incredible as is the building itself, great rooms with character and the living area is perfect for a group with the hot tub on the balcony a real bonus. But we did feel we were let down this year with a few aspects, mainly due to just how dirty the place was, it seriously needs a good clean everywhere! Also the lack of little extras is quite disappointing, ie no salt or pepper or any other every day condiments, small amount of wood for the fire that didn't last for even one night and 2 toilet rolls for 7 people for 3 nights is not really acceptable plus the lack of a welcome package (last year we had flowers, wine and a cake) was a disappointment too.

  • "This boathouse was quirky and unusual."

As the house was an upside down house sometimes it was quite noisy if people were still up and others trying to sleep. The mattresses need an update. A very long walk to the local pub and shop. Car definitely required. A lot of attractions were closed due to it being Christmas. Think the advert should mention fishing as we would have loved to have done that in the sea which was on the doorstep.

Beds were comfy, wine, flowers and cake on arrival were lovely touches. Hot tub was great, couldn't get it fully up to temp on day 2 but other days was perfect, possibly because of such a chilly day. Kitchen had everything you could need included, big fridge freezer. A gas hob or induction would have been better but understand why this is. Wifi would also have been a plus but we managed!

  • "This holiday home was very well placed on the shore of the Menai straights with outstanding views over the mountains."

It was a very unique property which was more than big enough for 7 people. The upstairs has a lovely kitchen open plan with the living room and this then leads out into a decking area with seating, dining and hot tub area. This was used often!! The dining room has a wonderful view. In fact the whole of the property has lovely views. The property is very well equipped and on arrival there was two lovely cakes and tea. And also a bottle of wine. The bedrooms were sufficient. The first double room was ok but not very big with a family bathroom on its own. The ensuite bedroom was much larger with a lovely shower. My only criticism of the property is that because it is upside down and all the walls and floors are stone it does feel quite chilly downstairs even In The summer with a damp smell so maybe this property hadn't been used for a couple of months? But don't let this put you off as it soon sorts itself out. All in all this property, with its wonderful views was amazing and we shall certainly return.

  • "The cottage has wonderful views across the Menai straights to North Wales, which is the redeeming factor."

The cottage itself smells of damp and chemicals, especially in the double bedroom with on-suite shower room. The place could do with a deep clean (cobwebs and fluff in many places) and a general tidy up. We had to thoroughly clean the high chair provided as it was not clean enough to put a baby into it (e.g. seat was filthy, straps were reddish brown, but brilliant white when we cleaned them). The freezer needs to be replaced as the drawer fronts are broken. The front door sticks making it difficult to use when you are carrying in bags / children. Due to the quality of fixtures and fittings and the problems mentioned above, we did not think it represented good value for money especially when compared to other cottages that we have seen.
