The last review left me wondering if we’d made the correct decision by making this booking? That review couldn’t have been further from the truth. The cottage was really welcoming and warm. Facilities were excellent. Really peaceful and just the break that was needed. We didn’t need a torch whilst in the kitchen of an evening cooking, no damp was visible. The cottage was extremely clean and our dog really was in his element in the garden. We could see a lot of time and effort has gone in to the refurbishment of greensleeves and this is a credit to the owners. We’ve stayed at more expensive properties that have inferior modern appliances. We would definitely look to visit again and overall a great time was had by the three of us

A few weeks prior, we had noticed a review stating it smelt of damp, we were obviously concerned & contacted Sykes, who in fairness replied within a couple of days to say they had been in touch with the owner and had been reassured there was no smell. On arrival, it seemed lovely. Nicely refurbished, even though a few things needed finishing, such as unpainted MDF in the bedroom etc. However, after a few hours, we started to notice things such as green mildew on the skirting boards in the bedroom & awful cobwebs in corners etc. I cleaned the green off the skirting but after 2 days of rain, the whole house (especially the bedrooms) smelt of damp. And the green mildew had grown back! We were so disappointed as it is a lovely bungalow but this dampness definitely needs addressing! On arriving home, every single item we had taken needed to be washed thoroughly as we could all smell the house for days after. Not pleasant at all. Feel completely let down. Especially after being reassured that there wasn’t a problem. (Note: air fresheners in every single room does not solve an issue, just masks it for a day!)

The cottage desperately needed maintenance and a good clean. There was mould in some of the rooms, and litter/cigarette ends around the property. The fixtures and fittings are falling apart. The boiler is too loud to be put in the main bedroom. It kept making noises throughout the night. The toilet was blocked when we arrived. The dishwasher was also broken, and only fixed the day before we left!! There isn’t enough light in the kitchen. The games room did not have the pool table as described. The games console does not work. There were too many other issues to mention. The only positive aspect were the owners who did try to fix the issues but we did not appreciate having to call the owners almost every day to report yet another problem. There should not have been problems to begin with. Overall, the cottage needs someone to regularly check it over between guests, and fix any issues before they get worse. (I have taken pictures of all the issues, in case anybody doubts my review)

The smell in one of them was almost unbearable and made our sons clothes damp and smelly not a pleasant environment to sleep in. The dishwasher didn’t work, we spent over an hour with the manual, think it was something to do with salt? Which we didn’t bring (!) perhaps this should be checked between each guest. The shower in The en suite bedroom was very temperamental too. We enjoyed our stay but the damp in the bedrooms really does need addressing. Thanks

Lacked some coffee tables in the lounge as no where to put cups etc. Other than that we had a great holiday
