  • "Had a lovely stay at Sundowner."

The weather was mixed but the view from the chalet over the lake was beautiful in all weathers. The central heating was an added bonus.

  • "Lovely cosy chalet with wonderful views over the lake."

Very clean with comfortable beds and very well equipped. Could benefit from a few board games for rainy days. Park was lovely and had a good cafe and daily shop , an outside pool with bar and children’s playground. Slight problem with the guttering over the door overflowing , but we did have a lot of rain .

We appreciate your kind comments regarding your stay in Sundowner, thank you for taking the time to review the property. The board games were removed following advice during covid restrictions and haven't yet been replaced. We stayed at Sundowner in October and had a mix of weather. However, we got to the top of Snowdon. We hope that you will return. Best wishes Janet and Jack Property Owner

  • "Although it's listed for five persons it would be a little snug for a large family."

The property slightly dated was very comfortable but some fittings showing signs of age. Shower doors not very secure. Very pleasant surroundings over looking the lake. Shop on site and a very good café especially the chips. Overall a good base to go sightseeing.

Thank you for your review of Sundowner, the comments will be very helpful to others when deciding if the chalet is right for them for their holiday. We are pleased that you found the chalet to be comfortable. Our letting agents, Menai Holidays, advise on the chalet’s guest capacity. Sundowner is in a great location for sightseeing. • "The cabin is in a perfect location looking over the lake with swans and ducks but not overlooked directly by anyone else."

Patio furniture was appreciated with a table and 4 chairs plus loungers, a comfortable "sofa" with cushions, patio heater and BBQ. Sadly the weather meant we didn't get to use the latter. Patio doors means that eating on the balcony is easy and there's a lovely view from inside on colder/wet days. The cabin was perfectly clean with anything you want supplied including blankets / throws, a big brolly, hairdryer, iron, ironing board and torches. The kitchen is overstocked with good quality cooking wear. Fewer pots and pans (there are loads) would make room for storing food. There was washing up liquid, cloths and a tea towel with a few dishwasher tablets and washing tablets. The bed is firm and comfortable (we only used the double) with cosy bedding and soft towels. The 2nd bedroom has a bunk bed with a larger bottom bunk and normal sized top bunk. Do-able but not a lot of room to move in either bedroom. Plenty of room for 2 adults with a couple of smaller children. Older kids will need to get on well to share the 2nd bedroom. The shower is good and much better than expected. We didn't use the central heating or any of the multiple heaters supplied. I can't imagine being cold in this cabin. We were there Monday-Friday in June and the park was nice and quiet. The pool looks nice and clean and the bar sells reasonably priced "pub food". Easy ride to Caernarfon, into the hills and to the seaside. Access to the cabin is up a big hill which you can drive up, then a v short walk past another cabin and down a few steps. The park is clean and well kept with loads of wildlife and birds. The bird feeder outside the kitchen window is regularly visited by a variety of birds. We had a lovely few nights here and would highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a comfortable stay with a feeling of being outdoors.

  • "The property was in a fairly poor state of repair and there were quite a few dirty items in kitchen."

The bathroom looked as though it had been half renovated and then left with exposed pipes and locks on various items. Really too small for a family.

Thank you for taking the time to review Sundowner. We are sorry that you have found issues with the chalet. Our housekeeper is always contactable; the number is clearly displayed in the chalet and would have been happy to help. There are two locked cupboards in the chalet, the housekeeper cupboard and the boiler cupboard. Menai holidays are also always contactable for any guest having issues with a property . • "Amazing property and location, was so peaceful."

Great facilities, personal touches were really nice. (Milk, coffee etc for when we arrived) Great information provided in the accommodation, leaflets of local attractions/things to do was a nice thought - we left a few that we picked up along the way as well. Only issue that we could see was that under the double bed could do with a sweep. We only noticed this when we were looking for an earring that was dropped.

We are so pleased that you found Sundowner to be an amazing property with a great location. Your comment regarding under bed sweeping will be passed to our housekeeping team, we hope that you found your earring and will return.Janet and Jack Property Owner

The cabin is situated in a good location over looking the lake in the Glan Gwna park and as such is very peaceful and relaxing especially when sat on the decking after a hectic day out. • "No gas for BBQ,expected to pay for electricity if it ran out,not able to use all appliances at the same time, only just enough room for two people certainly not enough for five!"

no room to store food in kitchen and not very clean!

Thank you for your feedback, it is important to us. The BBQ gas is kept topped up in the patio storage. We do not leave it out because we don’t want it stolen (it does happen). If it has run out or cannot be found the guests should phone Nikki – her number is prominently displayed in the property. We explain the situation with electricity in the brochure that is left in the chalet. The electricity supply is by card meter and cannot be upgraded, it is the same for all the chalets in the park. It is not impossible for the supply to run out and our suggestion about the card purchase is a suggestion to help them out if the power we have purchased for them does run out. If the guests don’t want to buy a card the answer is to call Nikki (unless it’s the middle of the night) and she will top up the meter. The chalet is as it is and cannot be enlarged. The photographs show the extent of kitchen cupboards and guests should make sure that the chalet is for them before they book. The chalet can accommodate five and has done in the past without complaints. This is a complaint we can do nothing about as it relates to the Menai presentation of the property. The housekeeper cleans the chalet scrupulously with all required Covid-19 precautions including PPI and full sanitization of surfaces and equipment. It is not acceptable to make statements like this without photographs or other evidence to back it up. Property Owner

  • "Generally fine, however the oven was filthy, every time I put it on a load of horrible smelling steam came out the back."

Some of the cooking trays in the oven were also filthy, and actually had mould growing on them. The oven needs a deep clean.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We endeavour to replace oven wear when required and the set in the chalet was very new so we were not pleased to hear that it was not up to standard. We have investigated and rectified all of the issues raised, including having the oven professionally cleaned and hope that you visit us again soon. Property Owner
