  • "Comfortable, cosy and clean."

John was a fantastic host and very helpful. The cottage has so much character and is situated perfectly, within walking distance of the town, but remote enough to get away from it all. Caernarfon at night is lovely. A perfect week for me and my daughter. We stayed here 15 years ago and I’m so glad we chose it again. Thanks.

  • "INACCURATE LISTING."

NOT CLEAN. SMELT DAMP unfortunatley the listing does not include the fact that the garden is shared with owner using the same driveway. He visited several times with dog to access equipment stored there . 2 of those visit were at 5am, one of which he had his radio on and parked right in front of our ground floor bedroom. These visits were not appreciated & disturbed not just us but also our rescue dog who is anxious & territorial. The level of cleanliness in some areas was very poor. The light switches were frankly disgusting. I had to bleach ALL the cups as they were heavily stained. I had to wipe out the fridge before I put any of our food in & the kitchen table was sticky and filthy. There was a smell of damp which I initially put down to the leaky sink that was being fixed on arrival but it persisted all week. The worktops & tables all had heavy staining, bedroom carpet was stained, the equipment was also very dated I did not want to use in some cases. Shower was hot but was just a trickle really no power It is a pity as the rest of the house was comfortable, comfy bed and sofas and log fire was great Would benefit from a deep clean and updating of equipment and listing information

  • "No issues, though the approach road had to be taken with caution in case of grounding the car."

Once you learnt where the danger spots were, it wasn’t an issue, but for the unwary it could be hazardous. Otherwise no issues.

  • "Fantastic cottage and location which allows for easy access to town and the local countryside."

The cottage was lovely with everything we needed. The only downside was the road down to the cottage needs desperate repair as it scraped the underside of my car on entry and exit and I feared serious damage. Would probably be with a 4x4. If that was sorted it would be 10 out of 10

The property

Y Berllan, a welcoming holiday home with all the home comforts you need on the outskirts of Caernarfon's town centre in Gwynedd, is nestled in a lush environment down a sweeping drive.

This home is wonderfully positioned and perfectly suitable for a break with friends or family at any time of year, with a lawned garden, woodburning stove, and a Smart TV.

After parking in one of the two spots at the front of the property, enter the living/dining area and curl up in front of the fire.

Gather your company here to dine at the table for six as you plan the next day's activities.

Continuing through the house, the kitchen/diner provides a less formal eating space with a breakfast table for four and all the required amenities, including a handy dishwasher.

A shower room, where you can prepare for the day ahead, and a double bedroom complete out the ground floor, making a suitable choice for a multigenerational family.

Ascend the steps to the mezzanine snug for some games, or up the other stairs to the remaining two bedrooms, a double and a twin.

If you don't feel like cooking, the nearest restaurant is Molly's, or you may venture into town centre for even more food options.

The old town is full of charm, so while in the area, visit the Caernarfon Castle and Walls or take advantage of the area's close vicinity to the Menai Strait to enjoy the magnificent vistas and hikes.

Make the short drive to Anglesey for a day of seeing the popular Isle, which offers a variety of activities, beaches and wildlife.

While you're inland, enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Snowdonia National Park, or if you're feeling brave, try climbing the imposing Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).

With so much to see all year, make Y Berllan your home base.
