  • "The cottage is in a lovely area and full of character, however we did have a few issues."

I'm not a fussy person and make the most of all our holidays whatever we encounter but the cottage was let down by things that could of easily been avoided. What is advertised on the website is not what the cottage has to offer, photos need updating as its false advertisement. The cottage wasn't clean cobwebs were everywhere! I don't mind spiders but this was on another level. A level of not throughly cleaned in awhile, especially when the cottage is still very big on covid 19 and protecting their guests and cleaners. If they had left us access to the cleaning equipment I would of used it it even though I was on holiday. Checks weren't carried out by whoever prepares it for the next guests. I found a dirty grill with food inside the oven on day 5! an air freshener in the toilet with mold and spores multiplying inside, sheets didn't fit the mattress, drains overflowing with sewage to the point I didn't let my children access the garden. We did want to dine outside but the table and chairs where covered in bird mess and by the looks of it had been for a long time. In my opinion and of others, this should of been checked to ensure everything was satisfactory before people arrived, especially peak season. When I've paid to stay in a property for a week, I don't expect to walk in and clean it. Internet hit and miss, was a abooster and by the looks of it connected to another property? We were on holiday so it didn't bother us. The recycling bins did randomly disappear and never returned! I have stayed in several properties on Anglesey and a few times have booked through Sykes and this is the first time we have encountered issues.

We were looking for a relaxing and peacefull weeks holiday and we couldt have got a better one .IT was about 5 min away from rthge beach chip shop and supermarket .The welcome pack was very helpfull the rooms were very clean there was few cob webs but what can you expect in a country cottage clean them away and did not see them again .To be able to sit out in the the garden and hear the wind in the trees and the clear sky was total amazing and peacful.over all it was amazing did not wont to leave. • "The cottage is absolutely lovely."

For a little cottage it has alot of room. The garden is just right. Sitting out at night star gazing. Everything and more in the kitchen. The lounge was cosy and very comfortable, plenty of seating for all, just like the dining area. Plenty of storage, and two bathrooms, which were clean and tidy, was a bonus. The mattresses were perhaps ready for replacing if possible, but this cottage overall is cosy and comfortable and a gem to find. If you want peace and quiet, but not to far away from beaches and places of interest then this cottage is just right.

  • "Unfortunately our holiday was let down by the cottage."

The cottage was not cleaned to a suitable standard. The carpet had a stain on it in the room. The bathrooms were not clean with mould between the grouting. Also the bath had a large crack on the rim of it and also a bare wire was showing under the radiator. In the shower room the shower itself looked rusty. One of the bathroom cabinets needed replacing as the silver had come off the mirror all round the edges. Cobwebs and spiders webs in various locations around the house. Kitchen trays not clean. The furniture was different to the pictures on the website. The dinning room chairs were rickety and dangerous to sit on. Also the table was disgusting with a plastic table cover over it. The beds were uncomfortable. One of the living room sofas had been replaced with two flowery high back chairs which looked straight out of a charity shop. The equipment in most of the kitchen cupboards were dated and very old fashioned. All in all the furniture and equipment were substandard. The garden had brambles growing into the pathway. I am surprised that Sykes Cottages market this cottage and need to look at what they market on their website more closely.

  • "The property is beautiful and full of character."

The kitchen is well equipped, everywhere is clean, the location is fantastic. The only two things I would possibly change, would be the mattresses as they are very very flat, and the Internet only worked about 20% of the time. However! Do not let this deter you from the property, it truly is lovely and the location is perfect. We will definitely stay again!

So pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to having you back. The Internet seems to be working 100% so we can only apologise that it didn't during your stay. We are looking to update the mattresses as soon as we are able. Many thanks for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "We had a good holiday but the cottage was very depressing, We found the garden was in need of work."

Plus the Beds was very un comfy and that is part of Holiday. Also we found the front room very depressing.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you found the cottage "very depressing" and the front room "very depressing". It is a very old Welsh traditional long cottage that guests have called " Snug", "cosy", "welcoming", "quaint", "full of character". We realise opinion is subjective, so can only apologise that it wasn't quite what you wanted. It was a long season and have since re-decorated the living room in "Elephants breath" estate emulsion. The guests the previous week wrote: Wonderful cottage in quiet and peaceful location great garden. Thank you for staying with us and we encourage you to keep booking with "Sykes" . Property Owner

  • "The cottage was snug and had a lived-in feel."

It suited our purposes as a single-storey base for 5 adults, including our elderly mother, to explore Anglesey. The surrounds were a little unkempt, which did not give a good first impression, but the cottage was clean and tidy inside, and felt COVID-safe. The owner sent us very helpful welcoming and departing instructions by email, and was also very helpful and receptive when contacted. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Bryn Rhyd.

  • "The front room was very cosy with the fireplace."

The kitchen had everything you could need. The location was great, on a very quiet road and a very quick drive to red wharf bay and Benllech. A few quite small things would make this go from good to great... the WiFi signal doesn’t get to the front room very well; it’s a big old stone cottage so that’s not particularly a surprise but there’s things you can do to improve that now. There’s no radio in the kitchen; not essential with Spotify etc but lots of cottages do have one and it’s nice just to switch on some news or music in the mornings. Many cottages we’ve stayed in have a few board games or dvds which they don’t here. Again not essential but does add value. Finally, this cottage does not advertise itself as kid friendly so this is probably an unfair critique, but they don’t have a high chair or travel cot for small kids. You can get these for very little cost (£15 high chair in ikea!) and having these would be a huge plus for guests.
