  • "My family and I enjoyed a week at the property."

We chose it because of its location and parking as we had two cars. We got to like the hot tub especially on a cold day in February! David & Lee, the owners, were friendly, helpful and on hand immediately when I contacted them about a small issue. The property is very well equipped.

We were so pleased to read that you enjoyed your week at our home and that you found it very well equipped. As you mention, our home is often booked because it is in a great location. A very spacious place, more than enough room for us as a couple with 4 dogs. A really well stocked kitchen, huge American fridge freezer, cooking facilities are exceptional. The hot tub is absolutely perfect. Close walking distance to all amenities. A very friendly village with beautiful walks by the stream and a simply beautiful beach. Our dogs had the time of their lives. We are looking at dates for 2024 to return and have recommended to friends and family. Thank you to David and Sykes cottages

The hot tub was fantastic - a good temperature and just what was needed after a day of walking. The host was friendly and responded quickly to messages. The location was ideal for travelling to visit different parts of Anglesey and it was only a few minutes walk to the local harbour and beaches. The local shop was well stocked and open until 10pm, which was very convenient. The local pub, The Stag, a few minutes walk away was very welcoming as was the Harbour Hotel.

Fantastically furnished and wanted for nothing. A little convenience store in the bay or a 20 min drive to a Tesco or Morrisons. Large American fridge means you can do a full shop that will fit in there. Ice dispenser was a big hit for the old gin's. Never far away from walks or birdwatching, Cemlyn bay is a definite for this with golden plover, snipe, lapwing to name a few and if you're lucky otters can be spotted, a fantastic hot tub ready waiting for you after a day exploring. One small issue we had the friendly owners were quick on hand to rectify it that very same night. Superb. Will most likely rebook next year I was that impressed.

Very spacious, seems a lot bigger than the photos. I liked the bright quirky decor, right down to the glittery French bulldogs! It was spotlessly clean but a practical comfortable home, I wasn't scared of the dogs breaking anything and we could relax. The hot tub in the garden was the finishing touch, and lovely to relax in after long walks on the beaches and cliff paths. Cemaes is a beautiful place with a big sweeping sandy bay where the dogs can run (there is a restriction for part of the beach but they are allowed on the nicest bit!) There are a couple of cafes and pubs and a convenience store. There is also a nice river walk five minutes from the house which is great for dogs to have some off lead time first thing in the morning. A perfect holiday. My only criticism is that the beds are getting a bit worn out.

Thank you for your feedback which is much appreciated. We are delighted that you enjoyed your time at out house. Thank you for your observation about the beds. We are constantly making improvements and new beds are already scheduled for 2023. Property Owner

As with previous reviews on Sykes website the electrics are clearly not tested as should be. Sockets not working, loose switches in the conservatory and a dangerous extension lead the owner uses to plug in the bedside lamps. MY DAUGHTER was electrocuted while plugging in this extension lead as the back had fallen off the plug which she didn't realise. All the house sockets tripped ! My daughter received a painful shock and numbness through her body and had since been suffering from headaches. The owners have dismissed our complaint so we are consulting with our lawyers.

  • "A very spacious holiday home situated in a beautiful part of Anglesey As a family of four we found the property very spacious with a well equipped modern kitchen."

The outside decked area was a real little sun trap with a good sized hot tub which we all enjoyed. However on the first evening we found that the three bulb light fitting in the bedroom wasn't working. Two bulbs had previously been removed and never replaced leaving one dud bulb! We contacted the owner about this but during our stay the problem was never resolved. As the week progressed we encountered further electrical problems... plug sockets that didn't work and one very loose socket in the dining room. One lamp in the lounge worked intermittently. One of the beds has a broken wooden slat which has clearly been like this for some time along with the problematic creaky upstairs flooring . In general this could be a perfect holiday home if more attention was paid to the maintenance of the property and thorough checks carried out prior to guest arrival.

Thank you for your feedback. As you know, we attended the property during your stay and asked to change the bulbs but you told us not to worry. We were not aware from our discussion with you that there were any other electrical issues (as you describe). However, we have amended our housekeeping procedures to ensure that this area of concern is dealt with. As for the bed, we regret that some people do not alert us to breakages which means it is not always possible to repair/or replace items between 10am (departure) and 3pm (next arrival. ! Such a lovely area of Anglesey especially as we were blessed with good weather. The cottage was very spacious and had most things we needed for a pleasant stay. Netflix was a bit hit and miss at times as the Wi-Fi seemed to be quite slow and an outside bin would be useful to stop the crows and seagulls feasting out of the bin bags!! The outside area is a lovely sun trap and the conservatory is a lovely room to chill out in.

  • "Had a lovely relaxing stay here in a very pleasant village."

Very clean, spacious, modern and comfortable, very well equipped, comfy beds, good parking, and a really good sized hot tub ready and waiting, also the nicest, unscratched frying pans we have ever encountered, so nothing at all to complain about. A couple of very minor points which were not worth mentioning during our stay. The upstairs shower head may need replacing soon as there are a few fine jets of water spurting out above the ring of holes - the up and down shower holder bars were a little difficult to move, and there is a small metal cover strip loose under the temperature gauge. As others have mentioned, there are a couple of squeaky floor boards upstairs which did not bother us, but maybe the people immediately next door below heard them. (From one bedroom we could faintly hear people talking occasionally in the adjoining rooms below, but again this was not a problem for us). A large refuse bin outside plus the option for recycling would be advisable as there is only a good sized pedal bin in the kitchen which was fine for us for a short stay, but would necessitate ringing the owner to collect the rubbish for any longer stay. Overall, this was a lovely property for 4 people and we would certainly return. Thank you to the owner.

This was the best UK holiday let we've ever stayed in as is had everything you could possibly need to live there permanently let alone just for one week. The large kitchen with with a big 4 seater glass dining table had everything you could possibly need from elictrical appliances to cutlery, crockery and pots and pans. The beds and sofas were really comfy, bath and showers hot and lots of fluffy towels available. Loved the hot tub and the garden was fully enclosed for our dogs. Cemaes itself is a quiet pretty little village the beach was lovely for the dogs. Had a perfect little new year break. Will be very sorry to be leaving tomorrow

One toilet was non-operational from arrival on Saturday until Tuesday of our week-long stay Throughout the weeks stay, a radiator rattling and other noises disturbed my wife and children’s sleep to the extent that we all four ended up sleeping in one bed in the quieter bedroom The property’s driveway can accommodate 2 cars as advertised , but during our stay, one of these parking spaces was continuously occupied by the neighbouring “annex” property’s guests vehicle, which made access tricky The property does not have a lawned garden that we were able to find, contra to details as advertised on Sykes website

  • "Just the most relaxing cottage!"

We’ve loved our holiday and have already booked our return. Our hosts, Dave & Lee were superb - a fabulous and thoughtful welcome pack awaited us and in the event of us having a need, our issue was dealt with immediately and with a smile. Our two terriers loved the house too and we were able to completely relax because the property has a secured area outside - both front and back - no worries about either of them escaping. The new fence made our hot tub visits private. There is a washer dryer at the property (doesn’t appear on the listing) and the kitchen is well equipped. The beach genuinely is 6 minutes away and the dog walking section on the far side is generous and sheltered. The Chip shop is highly recommended and has gluten free chips. The location is perfect with so many walks and tremendous views; truly unspoiled coast.

The location was stunning but we were dissapointed that there was very very little to do. The only thing regarding the house was the sweet floorboards in the blue bedroom and the back foot sticking. I think the little blue hut in the garden could be made into a lovely shower and drying room for when you get out of the hot tub. The house is really like home to home with everything you could possibly need. We really loved the house and decor and I could quite easily live there.

  • "This holiday house was up there with the best."

The location was superb, just a short walk to the village and the beach. From the beach you could access the stunning countryside which was fabulous for our dogs. Lovely countryside walks could be had from even closer. We had the usual Tesco delivery but the shop in Cemaes sells pretty much all you need and the obligatory holiday visit to the Chip Shop was well worth it! The house was beautiful and the best equipped that we have stayed in (and we've stayed in quite a few!). The front area had recently been flagged and was secure for our dogs, only overlooked slightly from the front door of the house next door so no problems there at all. We certainly made the most of the Hot Tub. The kitchen was the best stocked I've been in and as we like to cook as a family the abundance of pans etc etc etc made that a pleasure rather than having to juggle everything. We even used some of the herbs growing in a pot. The downstairs bathroom was great as my mum is elderly so once downstairs in the morning she didn't need to trot up and down the stairs throughout the day ;) Bedrooms were spacious and well equipped with plenty of drawers and hanging space. Lots of towels too. It was absolutely spotless when we arrived and we met one of the owners who was lovely and friendly. If this house suits your requirements then I would highly recommend, I can't really say any more other than SUPERB. We will certainly be back for another visit.

Loved having 2 bathrooms, made it much easier. Hot tub was fantastic, our only concern as dog owners was the area wasn't enclosed but just a quick call to the owner and a temporary one was arranged! We would certainly look to return here and would recommend Woburn hotel to eat rather than the Stag pub. Thank you for a great holiday!

  • "This property is a little gem, located at the start of the highstreet it’s walking distance to the local pub, shops & beach."

When we arrived the property was very clean and the welcome basket with a few basics was a nice suprise. The decoration & furnishing throughout the property is to a very high standard and the kitchen is very well equipped with good quality utensils. The photos are slightly misleading as the grassed area is at the front of the property and not enclosed which means we couldn’t let the pooches run around. This would easily be solved with a little fence at the end of the grassed area. There is however an enclosed paved area at the back of the property to let your pooches out, even though it enclosed it wasn’t ideal for dogs to be left unsupervised as there were used & empty kerosene containers some without lids on. Also general debris on the floor such as nuts & screws which if left to their own devices our two crazy pooches would have found these. Overall this was a lovely property and as two couples celebrating new year we all had a fab time. The hot tub was great even if the weather wasn’t. Would 100% recommend.

One of the nicest houses/cottages we have ever stayed in. Hot tub was a bonus after long dog walks. It's a house with every thing. Towels,Toilet rolls. Milk and cake on arrival. These little things make a difference. The area is perfect so many dog walks. On your door step. A few lovely pubs and places to eat mintures away. The dogs gave no rules in the house which is amazing. We took our 3 jack Russell's and they loved it. The house was spotless and warm and welcoming. We didn't want to leave. It was very well decorated, to be honest a home from home. The double bedrooms were very spacious with plenty of room. The kitchen was very equipped with all mod cons. Spotlessly clean on arrival and the welcome hamper was a great touch and with an added bonus was the hot tub which we used nearly every night even in mid-November. Located less than 5 minutes walking distance to local pub and beach. Would highly recommend it 11/10. A bonus for Sykes cottages and credit to David the owner. Very comfortable also left a welcome pack Bread, Milk butter Etc. No book of rules of what you can and cannot do with your dogs which is brilliant. Cons The photographs do not give a clear indication of the enclosed garden, It is not the grassed area on the pictures with the hot tub which is on the front and open to the access road. The enclosed area is to the rear which is pretty much completely paved with a large storage tank in it for many this will not matter, If like us you have dogs who are not used to a stone yard and are used to grass first and last thing a day it was an issue. Just need a fence between the drive and the grassed area with hot tub and we would happily recommend in all areas. This seems to be more down to Sykes Photography of the location than anything else.
