  • "The property is a great house with fantastic seaviews and access to the coastal path."

Very spacious with room for everyone to spread out. However we had problems with the ground source heat pump which failed leaving us without hot water or heating. This was reported to Sykes who dealt with it promptly and an engineer called the same day to repair it. The kitchen was lacking in cooking trays and dishes to use in the microwave. There were also several light bulbs which were not working and we could find no spare ones. We also had trouble finding the wifi password it would help if this was displayed on the sideboard.

  • "The house was magnificent and fulfilled all our expectations but sadly the cleanliness was not good."

On the first evening we took out some plates and found bits of food stuck on two of them and also food on some cutlery, which meant all the dishes, plates, mugs and cutlery all had to be hand washed before we could eat. In the evening we put everything we would need in the dish washer and then kept it separate. In the largest bedroom the toilet was disgusting.

  • "This was an absolutely stunning place to stay."

We appreciated the detailed driving instructions which got us straight to the door and we were simply amazed at just how beautiful the house was. The on-line photos really do not do it justice. Some of the soft furnishings were a little worn but other than that the house was perfectly placed for walks along the coastal path. The views across to Holyhead were stunning; who needs TV when you can look at the changing views. We definitely hope to return.

  • "Firstly, the house is in a stunning location with amazing views."

However, it is in desperate need of some TLC. The heating and hot water failed at the start of our holiday and was not resolved until the Friday before we left on the Saturday. On reading the maintenance book and feed back online this has been a recurring problem since October last year. The cleaning was not of a good standard with crumbs all over the downstairs floors, dirty and stained sofas in both rooms, grill only working on one side, this has also been reported in the maintenance book but still unresolved. The mattress in the main bedroom is badly stained and no mattress protector.

I am so sorry to read these comments about your stay at the house. The house is managed by Menai Holidays, so I will certainly be chasing them to ensure this situation doesn't arise again. Even is there is a failure with the GSHP, there is a back up system, which just involves a flick of a switch, so there is no reason why you should have been without either hot water or heating. In addition, there are fan heaters in each bedroom and a wood burner in the living room. The house is also extremely well insulated. I am also disappointed to read the comments about the cleaning. I have already passed these on the housekeeping team. I hope this didn't spoil your holiday too much. With best wishes Property Owner

  • "Ty Glan Y Mor is a lovely property to stay in, with nice scenic views."

However, our stay at the property was spoilt by the ground source heat pump and hot water system not working after the first day of our stay. The management company did try to resolve the issue by arranging for an engineer/plumber to attend, but the only engineer in the area who can fix the issue with this type of system could not attend until the day we were leaving the property-which was not good for our stay! I could see from reading previous reviews that this very same issue has occurred previously, so there is obviously an underlying issue with the ground source heat pump system at the property. I contacted Sykes Cottages requesting compensation due to the issues we had to put up with during our stay and I was told that it was down to the owner and that the owner had refused to pay any compensation. I find this attitude by the owner/Sykes Cottages not acceptable. I paid up front for the rental/service of the property and I expect that all should be in good working order in the house for the duration of our stay, as anyone would expect. Paying some form of compensation would be a reasonable resolution to this issue and would bode well for any future customers renting this holiday home.

Thanks you for your comments. I am sorry to hear that there was a problem with the GSHP. There is a back up system which just involves a flick of a switch. There is a back up system, which just involves a flick of a switch to provide plenty of hot water. In addition the house is very well insulated, has fan heaters in each bedroom and a log burner. • "The house and location are fantastic, 5 of us arrived 7/10/23 one of are party a 3 year old."

Later that day we found out that there was no hot water to the house. This comes from a heat pump from a under ground heat source. We read in the house instructions that it heats up over night. So the next day still no hot water. My wife, 2 daughters and myself had to have cold showers, we had to use the kettle for my grandsons wash. On the 9/10/23 I rang for help in the afternoon noon and the young lady told me were to find the keys to gain access to the heat pump. All the electrics had blown on the heat pump, so I reset them and the pumps computer and hoped it would work. Finally it did so I contacted the help desk to let them know what the problem was and they said a engineer would come out to look at it but no one did. The point is the start of your holiday is the most important but ours was ruined because of this problem. I have been in contact with Sykes holidays to complain and one of their staff was supposed to ring me on 14/10/23 and I'm still waiting for this call. It feels like they've washed their hands of us because our holiday is over, but we won't let this matter drop till it is settled.

Thank you for your comments. I am so sorry to read this. I will raise with Menai Holidays/Sykes too Property Owner

  • "The pièce de résistance of this property is the spectacular view across Holyhead Bay, through the main floor to ceiling window."

This property had such a peaceful, tranquil vibe we didn't want to leave. Ty Glan y Mor was well appointed with plenty of kitchen equipment, although the chopping boards had seen better days and would benefit from being replaced. On the whole the property was very clean, however, we were disappointed with a couple of points: on arrival, although there was toilet cleaner in the lavatories, we had to scrub the previous occupants "residue" from them. The floor in the kitchen/dining area turned my white socks black, so this could do with a good mop! Also, a previous occupant had written "clean me" in the grease on the cooker extractor. The cooker and the extractor could do with a thorough deep clean. This by no means detracted from a lovely holiday; just some minor niggles. The two main bedrooms were large, spacious rooms with extremely comfortable beds, both with ensuite facilities. Overall we had a fabulous stay at Ty Glan y Mor and would highly recommend staying here. The property is in a supremely beautiful area with the coastal path literally on the doorstep, with an abundance of wildlife.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and I am so pleased to hear that you had a lovely holiday and enjoyed our home. I am sorry to read the comments about the cleanliness and I have passed these onto the cleaners. Please come again. You would be most welcome! Property Owner

  • "I would like to start by saying this is one of the best properties we have stayed in on Anglesey and perfect for six people, the under floor heating kept such a large a house comfy and warm , the layout was perfect and of course the views excellent."

But I think it’s important to point out some small things, the radiators in the twin room and the Main rear bedroom didn’t work so the rooms were very cold. The sheets on the bunk beds in the main rear room were stained and the towels were old and maybe need updating and the outside wooden bench and palates could be updated. These are niggles that’s all and not a criticism of the property, we would return without hesitation as our stay was amazing.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I’m so pleased you love our home too! Menai holidays manage our property while we are overseas. I will pass on your helpful feedback for them to action straightaway. I will also make sure the house information booklet is updated to include the instructions on the heating upstairs. It all works off the thermostat so if the temperature isn’t low enough, the heating doesn’t come on. There are small fan heaters in each room for extra heat if required. Property Owner

The house and garden is so warm, inviting, well equipped with stunning views and long sandy beaches a short walk away. Although it nice to explore Anglesey or pop out for a meal, with a house this stunning staying indoors is a relaxing pleasure , both master bedrooms are huge and uncluttered, the cosy tv room with log burner is great but the show stopper I feel will always be the main kitchen living area with its amazing views and huge windows. • "The owner failed to tell us about building work until too late."

They believed it wouldn’t disturb us. It did. The kitchen was quite dirty and had to be cleaned before I unpacked. The master bath was also unclean. Several of the items in the kitchen had to be washed before use. The house itself was lovely with gorgeous views and great facilities. It wasn’t as peaceful as anticipated- the builders started their digger and cement mixer at 730 am. Really disappointed with the disturbance, the lack of attention to detail and the “oh well I hope you’ll still come again” attitude from the owner and the complete lack of interest from Sykes.

It is rather unfortunate that the builders were unable to complete their scheduled work in the garden the week before your arrival due to the horrendous weather. When it was inevitable that it wouldn't get done, Sykes contacted you. I also contacted you to check if there were any days that you didn't want the builders to come. They accommodated your request. The option of them not coming at all was available. You will be pleased to hear that the building work is complete and the garden is now safe for future guests. Pls accept my apologies about the cleanliness. I have passed them to the housekeeper. I don hope you will visit again. We have so many repeat guests. Property Owner

Totally unreliable internet. The TV worked for one evening! Once we're up there we need Google maps every day. Others may need work attachments? For us that's the point and purpose to staying on the islands...finding where everything is! This was a winter break. TV of an evening is handy, if the weather dictates or indeed permits! If it doesn't we need to have catchup available...'Net again? If no screen is to be available then at least furnish us with logs...very miserly supply left. We have relatives on the island so we are fortunate to know where to find them and how much we should be paying. However the object of visiting is not to waste time shopping. We felt at least a supply for the duration the stay would be reasonable, we were there for a week, and it's W I N T E R, a winter break. On a more positive note, the house is clean, comfortable, delightfully remote, private, peaceful and relaxing...if you don't enjoy or need such qualities stay somewhere else... we loved it...but then...we love the sea and there's a lot of sea involved...and not much else, thankfully.
