  • "My daughter went for a bath, when she let the water out I heard dripping in the kitchen."

When I checked there was water coming through a light fitting which my other daughter had noticed was not working. Reported fault to the owner, she said she has had a person out the week before, because it had done the same to previous occupations. Not very reliable

  • "The property is located in a lovely spot and forms part of a new development of properties which overall is very well maintained."

There is a good sized rear garden with views across the surrounding countryside. Our 2 year old loved singing ‘Old MacDonald’ to the cows as they wandered past in the rear field! The location is ideal with shops and amenities a 5 minute drive away. It’s also a great base from which to get out and about as you’re not too far from anywhere on the Island and there’s plenty of great beaches within 20 minutes’ drive. The property is very well appointed and suited our needs very well. The ground floor bedroom was ideal for my elderly father and upstairs provided plenty of room for the rest of the family. There was an issue whilst we were there but on contacting the owner it was rectified with little bother which was reassuring. Overall, a really nice property in a great location and we’ll likely stay here again.

  • "Very pleased with the house especially as it was not the one we chose."

Modern house and back garden with view over fields. We were grateful for the welcome pack and basically it was clean. It was very quiet and peaceful. It would have been good to have a basic instruction pack instead of all the manuals which we didn’t see at first. Unfortunately we found mens underwear in the downstairs bedroom and tampons in the shared bathroom. The placemats were not very clean and there were cigarette ends outside under the table. Paint is peeling off in the main bathroom. The sink and some of the cookware was cleaner when we left. We did leave a thank you note but not sure if the owners would be shown it. Rather gutted to see it advertised for £700 less for the week after next. We loved it enough to consider staying again. Many thanks.

  • "Property was in a lovely quite location."

Had trouble finding it with postcode as it's a new build. But as you turn right off the main road just keep your eye out on your right for the turning down a little lane. House is spacious and garden is big with a lovely view. Would highly recommend

The house is really beautifully designed and comfortable. A very generous Welcome Pack was a nice surprise. We would definitely come here again. The surrounding area is well worth a visit with so many lovely beaches and places to eat.

  • "We had a super stay at no."

10 Cleifiog Fawr. It’s a lovely house. We were 3 generations and it suited us perfectly :) Lovely comfy beds and plenty of bathrooms. As mentioned the development is still work in progress but we weren’t disturbed by noise etc. The garden is not fully enclosed as advertised, but is lovely and big and good views. More crockery/cutlery is needed if house is at full capacity and a clothes drying rack would be really useful! House is a good location to shops/pub, just a bumpy driveway to navigate first. We walked to a lovely restaurant Catch 22 and having Tesco 5 mins away was really handy! Thanks for a lovely stay :)

Thank you for your feedback, and we are glad you enjoyed the property. The building work has finished and the driveway is now tarmaced so those teething problems have been ironed out. Hopefully you will stay with us again. Many Thanks, Property Owner

  • "1. Your details make no mention of the fact that the property is on a phased development which is still under construction."

In fact, there is a sign, on the main road at the start of the lane which leads down to it, which states that it is an active building site from 7.00 am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday. There were diggers arriving daily in the morning and passing unit 10 in both directions. The house next door was being plastered and decorated externally, and we were asked to move our vehicle off the driveway of our property on several occasions - e.g. while they erected scaffolding on next door, while they chipped plaster off next door so it did not go on our car. We even took delivery of fencing supplies for next door which arrived at the weekend. 2. The house is advertised as having an accessible bedroom downstairs. While the bedroom itself is accessible and spacious, the en-suite shower room would not work for a person with mobility issues, particularly the shower which has a very restricted entrance to it. 3. As the site is still under construction, none of the roads/driveways have been completed as yet and have just been covered with slate chippings - they are shown as having a tarmac surface on the estate agent's sales literature for the properties. This means that there are drains standing proud of the drive and road surfaces, and there is a challenging step up into the house via the main doorway which is at the side of the house - I have arthritic knees and struggled with the big step every time. 4. The house would benefit from a house/welcome book containing all the instructions we needed. We found some but not all appliance guides under the television, but no instructions regarding rubbish disposal/recycling. The WiFi instructions relate to 5G devices only - we do not all have 5G yet and had to contact the owner for different instructions which he sent by text message. 5. The kitchen could do with a few more basic implements such as a colander (there were only small wire strainers) and we never did find a tin opener, and had to borrow one from a neighbour. 6.If small children or pets are involved, it would be useful to know in advance that the rear garden is not enclosed and is open to the road at the front. Having made the above comments, the house itself was in fact lovely and we were disappointed that it did not live up to its promise as advertised.. Given the price that we paid for the house, we felt very let down and disappointed.

Apologies for the challenges of the building work. this property was bought from a developer, and we were assured the work would be finished before we started our lettings. In fact it was until they came back to fix problems on two other properties. All work is now finished on site in entierety, and its a quiet and relaxing place to be. We have also added the missing items you requested. Kind Regards, Property Owner

  • "This house is lovely, clean, well equipment and in a great location."

Our experience with both the owner and the surroundings were a problem, and how our issues were dealt with has meant I would not recommend this property and owner to anyone. In short we were sold a holiday on a site that was still under construction, as well as the property it’s self. We raised this with the owner, who on day 1 offered us a small compensation. The issues continued and got worse through the week, which we communicated very politely and calmly to the owner, which eventually led to us being told that if we wanted to leave we were more than welcome. In the middle of an August holiday with 2 family’s in the house was obviously not possible. So the owner didn’t take responsibility of the issues, and shrugged us off. Eventually having to accept the original compensation amount a week later. The issues were around building work in the property garden, and neighbouring houses, which led to us being woken up every single day of the holiday before 8:00am. We had workers in the garden for several of the days, early morning, with-out any warning. Our party included a couple of teenage girls, who were casually walking around the house in their nightware, were confronted at the rear door into the garden by work men.. Sykes perform a middle ground service, so although the team were extremely receptive, the process in place doesn’t provide any solution. Our contract was with the owner, and not through Sykes, so there was nothing Sykes could do to help further.
