  • "The cottage was lovely open plan, airy and clean."

Lovely little welcome touches like popcorn and Welsh cakes. :) The owners provided things like toilet paper, kitchen towels, hand wash and dishwasher tabs - very helpful. We loved the hot tub which was under a cover. The kids loved the outdoor space. They fed the chickens and played with the dog and sheep. A lovely peaceful location close to shops and Benllech beach. 5 mins drive away. Great weekend, would recommend.

  • "Rather disappointed with the property."

It could be a lovely place but is let down by lack of maintenance. The bathroom floor is very spongy, which I think is due to a leaky shower and got worse during the week. Main bedroom window has tape on the frame and paint is missing off the windowsill. Clock in main room never goes past 6 but didn't want to check why as super dusty. The central heating is not central heating but a single electric heater, which when used with the log burner did warm the house up but can imagine in winter could be colder. Good points the hot tub was fab and the shelter round it helped us use it during winds and rain that we had 3 out of 4 nights. When there was an issue it was looked at the same day. Pretty well equipped, although a bit more crockery would help when using the dishwasher. Great location, benllech tandoori was fab. Aware prices have gone up due to covid but feel for what we paid they could have left more wood for the fire and take some time to make the property better cared for. Doesn't need lots just some extra attention.

  • "Tan Y Barn was a great place to stay for our visit to Anglesey and North Wales."

Hot tub was great, cottage was good, just needs a little TLC. The WC was difficult to flush & the seat was loose, shower waste was blocked causing the tray to fill up. There is something wrong with the shower room floor, very uneven below the vinyl, needs investigation. The bedroom wardrobe doors had loose hinges and no catches, just wedged in place.

    - Lovely location -Nice and quiet - Warm -Nice to see animals outside the back However this holiday let lacked the finer touches and it really let it down. We arrived to two big cars taking up most of the parking so had to squeeze on the end. Abit of a pain if you have alot of baggage and something to be aware of if arriving in more than one car. But no biggy. We were left half a used toilet roll between 4 adults for the whole weekend. No sugar, washing up sponges, bin bags or even a single dishwasher tablet. Broken toilet seat, grubby shower. No lights in hot tub building so couldnt see in the dark. Hot tub wasnt very clean and smelt very very strong of bleach. No complimentary log for the fire and the owners were away. Im all for being left to it but a quick hello on arrival to make you feel you can ask for help if needs be or a few fresh cut flowers go along way. Also one small towel per person and no robes so remember extra towels. Overall not an unpleasant stay because you come for the beautiful location and to see the island but if your only holiday of the year you may feel a little let down by the lack of effort.

Barry, the host was really great, friendly and welcoming. It was a brilliant base for exploring Anglesey and North Wales and the Cottage had everything we needed. Our little boy absolutely loved watching and feeding the chickens & sheep & meeting the beautiful Honey the dog. It was nice to relax in the hot tub & we were even able to use it during the storms because of the new hut being built.

  • "The cottage was positioned behind an automatic gate which enclosed three properties."

There was ample room outside to park your car and the view from the French windows overlooked the chickens in the field. Eggs were available at the entrance infront of the gate in a honesty box. We were received with a warm greeting from Barry, the owner who never failed to smile. The property was clean, homely, and had everything you needed for your stay. Barry was at hand if anything was required and showed true care and attention for my disabled husband without being intrusive. The property was really warm and cosy all of the time, an ideal place to rent in the winter months. The hot tub is positioned behind a screen which gives the feeling of privacy. It would be a good idea to bring your own towels for the tub. There most definitely is a freezer in the property, you can see it in the pictures. The fridge is integrated into the kitchen cabinets. We really enjoyed Benllech beach and Red Wharf Bay. We also loved the fishmongers dressed crab. There is a pub within walking distance and several good restaurants nearby. We enjoyed the cottage and the welcome and will certainly be coming back again when we are on that side of the Island.

Barry, the owner was helpful and on hand if we needed anything. The highlight for our sons (8, 8) was feeding the chickens, collecting the eggs and petting the dog! The hot tub was also a big hit and relaxing after a day on the beach! It is in a great spot for visiting many beautiful beaches. We would recommend the fish and chip shop in Benllech, Beaumaris castle, including a visit to the 'Red Boat' ice-cream shop and crabbing o the pier and food at the 'The Tavern' Red Wharf Bay is beautiful and then you have access to the quiet beach from there.

  • "We booked this break after our original holiday was cancelled due to Covid19."

It may not have been the 5* All Inclusive luxury that we had originally booked, but I can definitely say we made many more family memories here. From arrival to departure, it felt like home. We were greeted on arrival as we were a little early, but there was no problem with us being allowed in the cottage as it was ready for us. The cottage was clean and tidy, and more spacious than we expected, including the outdoor area with a small decking area and the hot tub. The owners were always around, and on hand if we needed them. Barry even let us borrow a wind break to take to the beach, which we kept until we left. My little girl loved the fact she had her own 'big bed', could feed chickens and go in a hot tub...I mean who wouldn't love that from their holiday! We explored the local area and beaches which were all a short drive away. Having never been to Anglesey before, we didn't know what to expect, however, I can say we will definitely be visiting again, hopefully next summer. Overall the holiday exceeded our expectations both accommodation wise and location.

  • "This trip was lovely."

The cottage is exactly how it looks on the pictures and the host was really friendly. The only downfall to our holiday was that we were told on numerous occasions that we were being too loud whilst using the hot tub. One evening it was 8pm and we had no music on and was just talking. The host explained how due to the hot tub being in a corner the noise echos to the next door neighbour. It made us feel awful and we decided against using the hot tub on the last evening. If you want to have a drink and a good old chin wag in the hot tub then this is not the place to go, however, if you whisper and go to bed at 6pm then you can’t go wrong :)

Thank you very much for your comments and glad to see that you enjoyed your stay with us. I am terribly sorry that we had to ask you to keep the noise down due to upsetting our neighbours as this was gone 10pm at night. We have a duty of care for all involved and expect that everyone takes into consideration other guests and neighbouring properties. We would love to see you again in the future! Property Owner

  • "Just returned from three nights at this holiday home."

Family of four. Kids ages 8 and 4. Very comfortable beds and sofa. Unfortunately they’d had a mix up with the booking and two of the beds hadn’t been made when we arrived but Barry the owner was apologetic the next day and had left some linen on the doorstep when we returned back after a day out. No extra towels though. It was a shame there was no apology gift with the linen - some fresh eggs from their hens, for example, would have been a nice gesture. Garden: The hot tub was lovely and very easy to use. Very private. Barry assured us on a clear night the stars are amazing. We weren’t that lucky! I got the impression from other reviews the hens roam free in the garden. They were in fact behind a fence in the owners garden - but easy to get up close to - kids loved them! Kitchen: The kitchen has about four of everything - plates, tumblers, mugs etc. If you have small children, best to bring plastic cutlery/plates etc if needed, as none provided. A small welcome pack of tea bags, sugar, milk and biscuits provided. No freezer compartment, which is a shame. We find it useful to freeze ice packs to keep a picnic cool when going out for the day but we managed. Bedrooms: Beds very comfy. Didn’t need the cot but there is lots of room for it in the main bedroom. Small tv in the double bedroom. Not many channels on it though. Didn’t use it. Lots of storage space if you want to unpack suitcases. Lounge/dining: lovely big dining table. Child seat provided for small children. A few games and jigsaw puzzles for age 9 up. No books. Very comfy sofa and large tv on the wall. Log burner for colder nights with starter pack. Bathroom: very big shower. Heated towel rack. Big space. Location: very quiet. Trust sat nav - will take you straight there. Big Asda 6 miles away. Phone signal not great. WiFi very good. Tourist attractions: boat trip around Puffin Island was a nice day - take raincoats! Found a beautiful church overlooking St Patrick’s Island where it is thought he was shipwrecked. Worth finding. All in all, a pleasant stay in a beautiful location. 4/5.

Don't feed the chickens or they'll appear at the fence every time you go out! Though it's very entertaining watching them run. Hot tub great and very relaxing. Convenient position to get around Anglesey and Snowdonia. Numerous places to eat within a short distance. Car boot sale at Bwlch( back of Benllech) worth a visit.

There was more than ample space for clothes storage , but note -no hair dryer . The hot tub was great, a new experience for us ! But.... the shower does need a re think , tiles were slippy underfoot and no 'grab rail' to use. Plenty of places to eat out nearby, would recommend The Boat Inn at Red Wharf Bay and the pub in Moelfre village, there is a good fish and chip shop in Benllech. Superb coastal walks near Moelfre, and Red Wharf Bay area - and the copper mine on Parys mountain (near Amlwch) is a must see. Everyone we met were kind and eager to help with directions and recommendations.

  • "Hi. Tan Y Barn Cottage was everything we expected it to be."

It was very comfortable, well equipped and clean. It was also surprisingly warm even though our visit was in January! The two main features for us where the log burner and hot tub. Both we found to be incredibly easy to use. The hot tub made our holiday. We where in it every night even when it was raining! On previous reviews I read that it was overlooked by another property, it most definitely is not overlooked and is completely private whilst in the water! You can also change the temperature if needed but we kept it on a very comfortable 40 degrees. The cottage is a short walk from the Californian pub which is a great place to visit for food and drinks. We also walked down to Benllech one night, around 40mins, and where chauffeur driven back to the cottage by the owner, Barry, in his pride and joy, a Bentley Continental! One day we came back to discover six eggs on the doorstep free of charge from Barry's own chickens. In summery, I'd recommend Tan Y Barn as a great place to stay with its central location on Anglesey and great facilities. Thanks Barry for a very relaxing holiday!

The owners were fantastic and very helpful when needed (they lived next door, but this worked so well). The only recommendation i would make is for them to have a list of recommended local pubs/restaurants to eat and places to visit with postcodes :) we spent alot of time looking for places to eat and this could have help us a little with it being our 1st time in benllech. The cottage is light and airy and we felt quite relaxed and at home right away. The hot tub is new and great after a day out in the surrounding countryside with a lovely beach close by. The chickens are the friendliest I have ever seen and would be a bonus for little children to enjoy, I am sure. We hope to spend some more time there again very soon.
