  • "We had a fantastic time at Tyn cae cottage."

    The cottage was amazing, thank you. The only issue we had was that a large black dog came into the garden one morning while we were having breakfast and did its business in the middle of the lawn. We have a small dog of our own so I'm used to picking up after them but it wasn't very nice to have to pick up after somebody else's dog. The dog came in through the bottom garden fence, did its business and ran straight out the same way. I left the garden clean on departure so I can only hope this dog did not return after we left as I would not like the owners to think we had left a mess in the garden.

  • "What a fabulous cottage!"

    ! We had an amazing week here and it definitely exceeded our expectations - much more spacious than we anticipated! Very clean and cosy. In contrast to a previous review, we found the upstairs bed incredibly comfy actually. The decor in the cottage is spot on- it has been modernised beautifully whilst keeping the character of the 300 year old cottage alive too! The garden was a real asset and we enjoyed sitting out there each morning. The remote location was a real plus and gave us a peaceful haven after busy days on the beach. Because of the central location, we were able to easily access anywhere in Anglesey easily - we’ve seen so much more of the island than we have done in previous years when staying by the coast. We can’t fault this property and will definitely return!

  • "The cottage was comfortable but did smell and feel very damp in the lower bedroom we understand that this is due to the age of the building but it is quite troublesome."

    There was also several areas that needed to be dusted and the windows in the older parts of the house were fairly grotty and unclean. The bins were an issue but that was resolved during our stay by very helpful staff. The furnishings were very comfortable. And the garden was brilliant. We enjoyed our stay except for the damp which I suspect is unavoidable and the dust/grime in places which I think could be resolved with ease.

  • "Whilst we had a great stay in a lovely cottage there are a couple of points we would note which would improve the facilities: 1."

    Access to Wi-Fi - these days most if not all places have Wi-Fi access so wonder why this isn't available ? 2. Purchase of a tall Fridge/ Freezer (in the Kitchen) - there is only a small fridge with the usual Freeze-box above and for 2 Families with 2 small children we felt there is not enough capacity to keep food / drinks cool / frozen. Given the remote location the increased capacity to store ice / chilled / frozen food would improve the facility no end. Having said that we had a fabulous holiday and would definitely return if we could - unfortunately it appears to be booked up for the next few years !!!

    The double bed upstairs was very uncomfortable but lovely looking!! Otherwise we enjoyed the house and lovely garden !

There are 9 mugs in the property, but they are not all kept together so may have been missed! I am sorry to hear you found the bed uncomfortable as the mattress is brand new and has a topper too, but mattress preference can be such a personal thing.   • "The cottage has been well styled and looks great in the listing."

    The garden is beautiful and full of birds. The housekeeping staff should be commended on the spotlessly clean property. They definitely get 5 stars! The kitchen was well equipped and all items spotlessly clean. There are several simple things that could be done to improve the practicality of the cottage. In the bathroom there is nowhere in the large shower to put soap, shower gel etc, same applies for the bath, there is no toilet roll holder or shaver/ toothbrush socket. The “ comfy sofa” is very uncomfortable due to worn and saggy seat cushions. The Roman style blinds, even when fully up cut out 25% of the light from the, already, small windows. Even moving all the available table lamps into the sitting room it was not possible to read in the evenings due to the lack of light. Since the photograph in the listing was taken a large plastic storage unit has been placed directly outside one of the two sitting room windows blocking out 50% of the light and is most unattractive to look at. The same applies to three household bins placed directly outside one of the 2 small bedroom windows. The listing mentions “headspace is a little tight” with regard to the upstairs bedroom. Nowhere does it mention the over all head height restriction in the living area and downstairs bedroom or the very low door jam between the living and kitchen area or the living and bedroom area. My husband spent the week being able to only stand up between the beams and had 2 head injuries from trying to duck under the door frames, (which couldn’t be more than 5ft 6in). We counted 8 air fresheners in the property, so the choice was a sooty damp smell or chemical air fresheners. We tried to make the most of our stay but feel strongly that a warning regarding head height should have been included, not just to mention the low beams upstairs. We would not have chosen the property had we known of the height restrictions in the living area and downstairs bedroom. My husband descriptions of the property is very cure but tiny, dark and musty.

    We are so pleased that the cottage was so perfectly prepared for you. Tyn Cae is a beautifully restored traditional stone cottage, and with these old stone properties it is not unusual for them to have a have small windows and low door reveals and lower ceilings than modern properties. All features designed to retain warmth 100 and more years ago. We don't find the ceiling height restrictive, but we appreciate for those in excess of 6ft may struggle. Property Owner

  • "The cottage was absolutely gorgeous, exactly what we needed & beautifully decorated."

    We felt so relaxed & at home as soon as we arrived & never wanted to leave. It was the perfect base to explore the whole of Anglesey, which we did every day & the booklet provided by the owners was extremely helpful & used daily for ideas of what to do daily. There was only a slight issue of no WiFi especially as you needed to book quite a few things on line for the next day but we could get 4G in the garden so as the weather was glorious that wasn't a major problem. Would love to come back as a week wasn't long enough to see & do everything Anglesey has to offer. 10/10 for the cottage & holiday as a whole! Alison, Mark & Toby the dog

  • "The interior of the property was extremely nice and looks like it has been refurbished very recently."

    It had a large enclosed rear garden which was ideal for our dog. We had only a couple of issues/comments: The parking spot was extremely tight to get into especially as we have a Mondeo estate which is quite long and took quite a lot of maneuvering to get in and out. The front garden of the property was quite untidy and overgrown and the gate has dropped so is quite difficult to open and close so gives a worrying first impression on arrival. We couldn't get the log burner to stay alight, it didn't seem to draw regardless of the positions of the controls. These were small issues as overall the cottage was really nice and comfortable.

  • "The cottage has been beautifully restored and is comfortable and very clean."

    We had enough space as a family of four but it would be a squeeze for six people. The garden is amazing and we loved using it. Th layout and planting were lovely, with areas for the children to play and a great seating area where we ate when the weather was good. The chiminea was lovely to light in the evenings and we sat outside reading with a glass of wine every dry evening. The kitchen and bathroom were modern and well equipped and the washing machine is an essential for us. It would be great to have a washing line and pegs to dry clothes outside though when the weather is good. The parking was difficult and I don’t think this was clear from the description. The lack of WiFi was a surprise to us as well but actually we enjoyed being able to switch off from day to day life without it (the children were less keen!) We really appreciated the notes left by the owners and discovered some new places to us this year: lovely walks, beaches and restaurants. It would be helpful to have an explanation of the bins and recycling as this is complicated and the recycling bins were full when we arrived and then not taken by the bin men for some reason. We would recommend this lovely place for a family and we had a wonderful holiday here!

This beautiful holiday cottage is located in Elim a peaceful hamlet in the heart of Anglesey.

If you are looking for birdwatching, fishing, walking or purely unwinding this is the ideal cottage to explore the local area.

The sitting rooms main feature is the big inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove.

There is a comfy sofa and armchair as well as TV and DVD player.

A well equipped kitchen with induction hob, electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and electric/oil heaters.

There is a long dining table in front of the patio doors.

There is a washing machine in bunker outside.

One ground floor bedroom with a double bed.

Leading on upstairs is another double bed and two small single beds.

Headspace is a little tight as the beds are tucked into the eaves. The bathroom has shower, bath, wash hand basin and loo.

A large garden to the rear with outside furniture and a small pond at the back.

Church bay is a short drive away with the Lobster Pot restaurant and Wavecrest cafe to enjoy after a ramble along the coastal footpath.

Holyhead 8 miles.
