“I was honoured to be Ian and Mandy's first guest - and the 'Bara Brith' was a delicious welcome surprise!”

    ...

They are lovely hosts - there if you need them but not intrusive. They were also happy to receive advice for making small improvements that would make a stay at Glyder Fach even better than it already was. The shepherds hut was lovely and cosy with an amazing view from the kitchen area. I would highly recommend visiting the beaches on Anglesey, and Snowdonia is spectacular. One piece of advice - take insect repellent - they're not a massive problem but it's worth knowing in advance so the little buggers spoil your holiday (Ian is planning on planting Eucalyptus trees to help ;D)

The property

Tregarth 2.3 miles.

This hidden gem shepherd's hut, Glyder Fach, rests in the idyllic countryside in Glasinfryn on the outskirts of Bangor city centre.

The rural location combined with mountain views from the decking makes the property an ideal base for a couple or solo traveller to enjoy a relaxing break, while amenities can be found in the centre of the city or in one of many delightful locations surrounding the area, such as Anglesey and Caernarfon.

As you arrive at the hut, the tranquillity is immediately present, with countryside views of rolling fields in every direction.

Park your car in one of two off-road spaces and make your way inside to begin your holiday.

Inside, the compact yet well-equipped kitchen offers an electric oven and hob, and many other appliances to assist with you self catering needs.

Rustle up a meal to enjoy at the breakfast bar or outside on the decking while you admire the views, before settling down to watch the TV in the sitting area and rest your feet.

When sleep calls, take advantage of the plush double bed before waking up to a refreshing shower and preparing for another adventurous day.

When you're not soaking up the summer sun in the garden, venture out to explore your surroundings.

Adventure-seekers will not be left short for activities in this wonderful area; the owner kindly offers a rental service for paddle-boarding in the local river and lake, while just a short drive away is the famous Zip World where you can run, jump and leap your way through an array of courses on the site.

Dyffryn Ogwen is also within easy reach and is a walker’s paradise due to the spectacular views and varying walks for many abilities.

Further afield, venture over the Menai Strait to relish in a day on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey, home to the Anglesey Sea Zoo and the magnificent Beaumaris Castle.

Heading back to the mainland, visit the historical town of Conwy, famous for being named a UNESCO World Heritage site for its glorious castle and walls, or into Caernarfon for a leisurely stroll along the seafront with some traditional fish and chips.

Glyder Fach is a lovely retreat, perfect any time of year.
