Lovely comfy beds and a comfy sofa (which we have found is not a given in rental properties). Our two children (age 8 & 4) loved saying good morning to the horses every day, especially the foal born the day we arrived, and the hosts were really kind to them when they did! Lovely touches of flowers, cake and milk x thank you

  • "The cottage was beautiful and very well equipped for all of our needs."

The beds are very comfy and we still can't quite believe how quiet it was at night (so peaceful). We had two young children with us and they both said they want to come back. Being so close to the horses and situated in the countryside was just wonderful. It is the perfect distance from so many lovely places you would want to visit when staying. We will definitely be coming back.

I really appreciated the friendliness and availability of the owner while still giving us space to enjoy our break away. The welcome bottle of wine and scones were a lovely touch and both were delicious. We have used Sykes Cottages a few times in the past and we are always impressed. Will definitely be using them again - a company I feel I can really trust.

The cottage was modern, clean, all appliances we needed, cool (critical for when we stayed - the heatwave!) and in a beautiful location where the dogs felt safe and really enjoyed chatting with the other animals. • "This very last minute NYE break could not have been more perfect."

I nearly cried when I walked into this cottage, it is basically my dream home! I thought the living space was quite large, and you have everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. It was immaculately clean, the furniture and fittings are so new and shiny, and I have no idea what laundry detergent was used on the bedding but it smelt amazing!! It is the perfect location for hiking multiple routes around Snowdonia, whether on the east or west side of the Snowdon mountain range. And, the views from the cottage are incredible, too. The skylights in the bedroom windows give great night sky views of so, so many stars which is beautiful to fall asleep under. We loved our break (one person, one dog), and couldn't imagine a better cottage to bring in the NY in, with the easy light log burner going and enjoying a complimentary bottle of wine. In short, this cottage was a gem of a find and we will absolutely definitely be back in 2020!

Both properties are benefited with two bedrooms – a king-size and a twin – so they are ideal for small families getting together in the summer, or maybe a group of old friends reuniting for a weekend break full of walking and catching up. The village of Deiniolen has a village pub and shop so you won’t be short of the essentials, while the larger town of Llanberis lies just four miles away boasting many tourist attractions that you will have to include in your trip like catching the train up the highest mountain in England and Wales, or visit the spectacular twin lakes of Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, which create the Llanberis Pass cutting through the magnificent mountain range and creating a perfect sight-seeing opportunity. The Snowdonia National Park is on your doorstep and it offers stunning mountain walks, cycling routes, and endless activities like Zip World, with sites at nearby Penrhyn Quarry or further out at Betws-y-Coed, for those daring enough to experience the closest a human being can get to skydiving without actually leaping out of a plane! About the location

DEINIOLEN

Llanberis 4 miles; Caernarfon 8 miles; Bangor 8 miles.

The village of Deiniolen, housing a village pub and shop, is 4 miles north of Llanberis, on the border of the Snowdonia National Park, making it an ideal base to explore the National Park. The Llanberis Railway runs nearby along the banks of Lake Padarn, whilst the ruins of Dolbadarn Castle are 2 miles away, or visit Ceunant Mawr, a cascading waterfall just outside Llanberis. Local walks lead to the Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir on the northern slopes of Elidir Fawr. Llanberis is 4 miles away and is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a “mecca” for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26 mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. On the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd.
