  • "This cottage is warm, cosy and comfortable."

We had a great week running some excellent trails straight from the front door as well as Snowdon and others further afield. We will definitely be returning!

The owners are great, although we didn't chat to them personally, but very attentive and around if needed. If you have dogs, it's great as loads of walks. The location is great as virtually all attractions i cluding beaches are no more than 30 mins drive away.

Great remote, quiet location - ideal for relaxation but close enough to loads of attractions and amenities. Shop and ATM in the village and a very local Welsh pub that we thoroughly enjoyed visiting on night (drinks only). Great local characters. Beautiful scenery all around and a very clean and well presented accommodation. Excellent

It was beautifully decorated, clean and tidy. The kitchen has everything you would need. A lovely added touch with a pint of milk and bottle of wine. The beds were so comfortable, we all slept so well. It was home from home. The scenery from the cottage was breath taking, so beautiful and quite. We throughly enjoyed our stay and we were all sad to leave. I would definitely love to return. Highly recommend, this is a 5* accommodation without a doubt.

  • "A beautiful, clean house with everything we needed for our family holiday."

A lovely quiet location, perfect for exploring the mountains and a walk to Llanberis from the doorstep. Thank you for the milk and wine on arrival! The only negative point was that I wouldn't really describe it as having a private enclosed patio as the patio area is across the gravel drive and has gaps in the fence to the field with sheep in it. This wasn't an issue for us as our dog was not bothered about going outside as we exercised him so much! But for those who would like to just open the door to let the dog out it might be a problem.

Hi Victoria, hope you and your family are keeping well. Thank you for your lovely comments and im so happy you all had a lovely holiday in our cottage. I am a little taken back with the score of 25 out of a 100? I wondered if this was a mistake as it is the worst score we've ever had!, and has decimated our overall score. If you feel it is justified, could you explain why so that i can try to remedy and improve things. Many thanks Regards Sharon Property Owner

The Cottage was a lovely, warm and very cosy place to stay. From Books and Board Games to TV and Walks up the country lanes. It had a nice modern upkeep to the look of both the interior and exterior visuals with quite a comfortable space to move around it and even for the dogs to lay down where they pleased. And the view from the cottage is a sight to behold looking up towards Anglesey from the mountain. Everything seemed to be in reaching distance of this place and with no real lengthy travel times either making it a great central location to branch out and do activities in the nearby areas. Overall we are very happy with how this place was presented, its facilities and information's you can use to see what's around. Would very much recommend to family and friends and even to anyone who is interested in staying here!

The location of this property is excellent for access to all the main sights in this corner of North Wales and there is plenty to see and do. The house is located outside the village so a car is definitely recommended, but there are walks and lovely views directly on the doorstep. The secure bike store was useful if you are bringing bikes. The house was immaculately clean, well equipped, very warm and cosy - perfect for a family of 4 + dog for a winter break. We appreciated the wine, milk and fresh flowers on our arrival. • "The property was lovely and so was our host, Sharon."

Everything was straightforward- property was easy to find, the house was spacious with plenty of room for everyone and very clean. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking. It was lovely being able to interact with the horses in the fields next door and give them an apple or two (with owner's permission). The wine and flowers were a lovely touch. My only two niggles were the double bed and the bathroom floor. The mattress on the double bed wasn't comfortable and I had to remove the foam that was placed in between the mattress and the mattress protector. The foam was put back on the bed before we left. The bathroom floor was especially noisy - even tiptoeing in the middle of the night didn't make a difference to the floorboards squeaking with every step.

Hi Jean, Thank you for the lovely feedback. We have responded to your comment re King bed mattress, it has now been replaced with a new comfier quality one. Sorry about the squeaky floorboard. The floors are all relatively new, hopefully they wont be as noisy once the boards have settled. (This was the answer off the builder when i enquired why) Best Wishes, Sharon Property Owner

The only issue we had was with the internet connectivity. While free guest wifi was provided, the smart TV in the living room had no internet connectivity (despite being connected to the wifi) so we need to tether the TV to my mobile phone to gain internet access. The wifi worked fine for the TV in the bedroom. This didn't detract from the overall stay, and I would be more than happy to stay here again in future.

Marchlyn And Ffynnon Bach

Located on the owner’s small-holding farm with horses, sheep and the odd chicken, are these two beautiful cottages, Marchlyn and Ffynnon Bach, in the quiet ex-slate mining village of Deiniolen, surrounded by countryside with views on a clear day of Caernarfon. Both properties are benefited with two bedrooms – a king-size and a twin – so they are ideal for small families getting together in the summer, or maybe a group of old friends reuniting for a weekend break full of walking and catching up. On the ground floors you will find an open-plan living space, with a kitchen, dining area, and sitting area, so there’s plenty of room for the whole party to convene and go over the details of the day, while being warmed by the woodburning stove. The village of Deiniolen has a village pub and shop so you won’t be short of the essentials, while the larger town of Llanberis lies just four miles away boasting many tourist attractions that you will have to include in your trip like catching the train up the highest mountain in England and Wales, or visit the spectacular twin lakes of Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, which create the Llanberis Pass cutting through the magnificent mountain range and creating a perfect sight-seeing opportunity. The Snowdonia National Park is on your doorstep and it offers stunning mountain walks, cycling routes, and endless activities like Zip World, with sites at nearby Penrhyn Quarry or further out at Betws-y-Coed, for those daring enough to experience the closest a human being can get to skydiving without actually leaping out of a plane! With all these fun-filled adventures awaiting to fill your days up, make Marchlyn and Ffynnon Bach your tranquil holiday base so you can look forward to relaxing and winding-down in the comfort of these splendid cottages in the idyllic Welsh countryside.

About the location

DEINIOLEN

Llanberis 4 miles; Caernarfon 8 miles; Bangor 8 miles.

The village of Deiniolen, housing a village pub and shop, is 4 miles north of Llanberis, on the border of the Snowdonia National Park, making it an ideal base to explore the National Park. The Llanberis Railway runs nearby along the banks of Lake Padarn, whilst the ruins of Dolbadarn Castle are 2 miles away, or visit Ceunant Mawr, a cascading waterfall just outside Llanberis. Local walks lead to the Marchlyn Mawr Reservoir on the northern slopes of Elidir Fawr. Llanberis is 4 miles away and is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. In fact, Llanberis is something of a “mecca” for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Each year, major racing events attract thousands to the area: The fast Snowdon Race to the summit, held in July every year and The Snowdonia Marathon, held in October - a gruelling 26 mile course that starts and finishes in Llanberis, circumnavigating the Snowdon Massif. Within Llanberis itself there are excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. On the coast is Caernarfon with its magnificent castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd.
