  • "Garden very useful, especially with a dog."

Kitchen is well equipped. The particulars should explain clearly that it is essential to buy logs and use the log burner in cold weather, as the background heating is not enough. The cottage was very cold when we arrived, because the thermostats on the storage heaters had been turned up too high. It took us a couple of days to work this out.

  • "Wished I'd known the cottage was on a fairly steep incline which made walking difficult for both hubby and me as we're both in our 70's I acknowledge it was December and expected cold weather but didn't realise the need to use the log fire as the heating in living room wasn't adequate, we wore our coats while we figured out how to use the log burner and ended up buying lots more wood to keep the fire going."

The neighbour was helpful giving directions to the local shop and where the best place to buy wood so this information should be listed on the welcome notes

  • "A lovely, cosy and well equipped cottage but a bit of a nuisance that there isn't a tv aerial as that meant we could only watch iPlayer all week."

It was windy when we were there and we noticed a cold draught coming in over the top of the front door where there's a gap between the frame and the wall - we stuffed a scarf in it which stopped the draught!

  • "Fab cottage, has everything you need and bed/pillows very comfortable."

Ideal location for walks and exploring the rest of Angelsey. Handy that Beaumaris is so close especially for wetter days.

Beautiful setting, lovely walks It was comfortable, warm, clean with everything you need. Already recommended to friends. Will definitely return in the future .

  • "We had a lovely week in this cottage, a very peaceful location."

The garden was enclosed and safe for our little dog. It had everything you could need for two people. There was enough fuel for an evenings heat from the wood burning stove but there was nothing in the shed so we had to purchase extra, this was not really a problem but we had a couple of wet days which lowers the temperature at this time of year (October). The wooden chopping board and knife box were mouldy due to damp and the skirting boards could do with a wipe down but I don't spend my time checking every detail! Really glad we had brought some basic provisions for our first night as the welcome pack was a little disappointing! We would definitely come back for another stay, it was a perfect location for the two of us. Thankyou.

  • "A lovely idyllic cottage in a great location."

We really enjoyed our stay. We especially liked the homely feel of the cottage with the cosy log fire and comfortable bed. The garden was nice to sit out in and the view from the bench was stunning. A great place for walks to the beach - White beach is beautiful and a short drive to Penmon beach, being our favourite. Beaumaris Town and Castle within 10 min drive. We will definitely stay here again.

  • "A lovely, clean, well equipped cottage, situated within a beautiful surrounding area & thank you for the arrival tea & biscuits."

We had such a lovely relaxing time during our stay. Not a criticism as we appreciate you are limited with space, it would have been a bonus with having two armchairs another small side table was provided & a couple of footstools to rest weary legs after a long day, There was only one evening that the living room needed a small amount of heat but we couldn't get the storage heater to work maybe more simple instructions could be provided?

  • "Nice little cottage, and good having a parking space."

Stair bannister was very low and should be updated as felt un safe as so low on the landing. No TV access. Garden is nice and was doggy safe too. It could be a much nicer space with a bit of TLC.

  • "Small cottage but okay for 2, would have preferred a small sofa rather than 2 armchairs."

Also having an aerial would be great rather than having to watch programs later on on the apps. Sometimes the apps didn’t work. Although it’s summer it was chilly on a couple of evenings and couldn’t get the heating to work, but did light the fire instead. A tv in the bedroom would be nice. Very quiet place for a relaxing stay.

Garden overgrown to the point we couldn't really use it. TV and Heater controls over complicated. Mould and damp patches need attention. Shower didn't heat the hot water on all occasions

  • "Arrived at the property after along drive only to fine there was no loo paper in the bathroom, then to find there was no dish clothes or scourers in teh kitchen, only after a quick trip to the local shop did we discover some toilet paper in the kitchen cupboard!"

In a cupboard there was a coffee jar with the contents congealed in the bottom. There was lots of short black hairs in the bathroom. The garden would benefit from a good prune, so as to avoid getting wet when checking for dog droppings. Clock in lounge ticks away merrily but hands does no move.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Gwel Fynydd."

It was immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable. There's everything you could possibly need in the kitchen, there's even dishwasher tables and washing liquid to use the washing machine, should you need to! Leaving biscuits and sachets of coffee/milk/sugar are a lovely touch too. The enclosed (dog friendly) garden is beautiful and comes with stunning views across the countryside, a welcome place to rest and share a drink after a long days walk. I would certainly recommend this cosy cottage for two people and a small dog. We loved Anglesey, and I'm sure we'll be back in the future.

  • "This is a delightful, compact and cosy cottage in a village setting, simply and tastefully furnished."

The car parking space is particularly welcome in an area of (very) narrow roads. I wasn't quite sure how effective the storage heaters were, but this didn't matter with the wood-burning stove ! The cottage is well placed for walking, but also for access to the rest of Anglesey and Gwynedd. Very much recommended

Cosy and comfy and a perfect base for exploring Anglesey. The store on the side was great for storing our mountain bikes. Comfy bed, nice hot shower, kitchen with all the appliances you could need. Couldn’t fault our stay.

  • "The cottage was lovely however advertising the fact you have damp adding to character of the age of the property is not a point potential guests wish to know."

The bathroom albeit clean and tidy lacked a few essentials ie shelf for toothbrushes etc as there was no power socket for shaver a wet shave was used yet there is nowhere for the items to be put. Getting in and out of shower was hindered as its quite deep bath yet no handle to hold to aid. Also during these winter months the log burning stove was ideal perfect touch but leaving a heat resistant glove to open the said stove would be useful. There are a few teething points but generally on the whole a lovely little cottage

  • "Lovely little cottage, well equipped and clean."

The little touch of the tea, coffee, milk sachets and biscuits left to make a hot drink upon arrival was really appreciated. The pictures don't do this property justice and I had originally overlooked this listing because of the images, hence why I marked down on accuracy. I believe the price is pitched correctly and good value for money. Location was ideal for us and not too far away from Beaumaris and beaches within easy reach either by car or on foot. We would have enjoyed our stay even more, if we hadn't had luke warm showers every morning, again why I marked the facilities down. We'd love to stay again when warm showers are available :-)

Thank you for that Lisa and pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry about the shower and thanks for mentioning this so that we can get it sorted. We are new to this and you were only our third guests so grateful to you for identifying the issue and hopefully you might want to stay again in the future. Richard and Shirley Hughes Property Owner

  • "Apologies for the late review, my first one didn't submit properly and I only just realised."

Lovely clean newly refurbished house, lovely garden which our dog loved, lots of local information available and beaches within walking distance. Had everything we expected and more, would be happy to stay again. Did however leave some dog food in the cupboard and couldn't get hold of the house owners to notify them that we could pop back and grab it as staying in the area for a dog walk after check out time, unfortunately had to leave it. Maybe better contact details available but again would be happy to stay again and it was our mistake.

About the location

BEAUMARIS

Menai Bridge 4 miles.

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.
