  • "We arrived in the dark at 5pm, to a very warm vista!"

Lamps on in windows, a Christmas tree in the main window, very welcoming! All the rooms are big and spacious, kitchen had everything we needed, including roasting tin for the turkey, Yorkshire pudding tins, cooling trays, you name it it was here! The dogs had also been catered for, blankets, towels, dog treats and emergency dog food if required. The garden to the rear is nice and big, but as we had 2 danes with us we used the enclosed paddock to the right of the main gate as you went up the drive from the house! The dogs loved their off lead zoomies! All in All this property is absolutely amazing and definitely booking again, but maybe in the summer next time! But in saying that whilst we had a lovely lightening show across the sky out the back of property and fierce winds, some rain, it didn't dampen our whole experience, we loved being at The Manor House in every way! Thank you!

  • "What fantastic accommodation."

A truly beautiful place to stay with great rooms & views. The hot tub has the best view of the jets practicing from the nearby RAF base! I have marked down slightly on cleanliness & facilities/maintenance due to the obvious damp on some of the walls, with patchy paintwork to try & cover some of it. There was some mould on the grout/sealant in the bathrooms as well. There were limited utensils in the kitchen - no baking trays for instance. There also weren't any books or boardgames/cards available, as I'd expect in a cottage of this standard.

  • "This property needs to be closed down and given an overhaul of decoration and cleaning."

I would even go so far to say the furniture in the living room was well below par. There was a black stain where people had been resting their heads whilst relaxing on the largest sofa. The damp issue was far from good - having to use a de-humidifier in the downstairs bedroom was unbelievable (this needed to be emptied every night). The damp is an issue all through the downstairs with water actually flowing down the walls. You can see where maintenance have tried to paint over the marks but have made it obvious there is a problem. The kitchen is not laid out in the best way with hardly any worktop space and the utensils actually placed on the worktops, being dirty. On arrival we noticed the fridge-freezer was leaking and needed de-frosting. The downstairs shower room could not be used as the shower screen doors kept coming away from the rails. There was a bookcase with 2 books and a DVD player with no DVD's. We were unable to cook anything that needed ingredients measuring out as there was no measuring jug. We had to wash some of the cutlery before use on our first night. We developed a rash from the hot tub, which had not been cleaned out after the last guests left that morning - it was cleaned on the Thursday but did not reach temperature until the early hours of Friday morning - it had reached 40 degrees on the day of our arrival....which proved it had not been emptied or cleaned. We had to visit a pharmacy to purchase anti-histamines and E45 cream. If the last guests had vacated 10am and we checked in at 5pm what had the cleaners been doing for 7 hours only changing the beds? Dead flies and spiders littered the conservatory and the inside of the windows looked like they had never seen water...The curtains in the living room need to be put onto the hooks properly on the patio doors and the carpet needs to be pulled up and changed or at least cleaned with an industrial carpet cleaner. There was so many stains on the carpet that we tried to keep our shoes/slippers on at all times. The internet could only be used downstairs in the living room as when you logged on upstairs the signal kept dropping. Suffice to say we did not have the best time after looking forward to our usual week away in September trying to relax - we go away every year to a cottage with a 5 star rating and a hot tub - we stayed in the Coach House 3 years ago and it was stunning, so we had high hopes for this property. I can safely say the only good things were the views, the peace and quiet and the comfortable beds.

  • "A fantastically spacious property with everything you would need."

A quiet and private location, despite there being other properties at the site. Hot tub had lovely sunset views and was a great way to relax at the end of the day. Our cockapoo enjoyed the large enclosed rear garden although, unfortunately, due to the grass having been cut before our arrival, we struggled to keep grass out of the property as the cuttings stuck in his curly fur. Minor inconvenience of vacuuming more times than I'd like during a holiday!! Overall we had a fabulous stay and plan to stay again.

  • "Excellent place to stay, not overlooked and views of the countryside from the garden with the hot tub making an added bonus."

Anyone who stays here with dogs will love the large secure garden and a 30 second walk away is a larger freedom pasture for a good run.Wi-Fi is excellent and the welcome pack for 2 and 4 legged animals is a beautiful addition. The only small gripe is the cushions on the chesterfield sofas are too soft and you really sink into them. Wouldn’t put us off returning though.

  • "We've just finished a week's holiday at The Manor House and we loved it."

The welcome treats in the kitchen and milk in the fridge was a nice touch, thank you. The lounge was very comfortable, as was the bed at night, which made it feel like a home from home. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook each evening, much better than previous places we've stayed in. The accommodation is ideally situated for exploring the whole island and great to come back to the hot tub each day, which made the holiday for us! It allowed us, even on cold days to sit outside and watch the aircraft from RAF valley and enjoy the peace of the countryside around us. Only bit of feedback I guess, would be that if there were three couples staying here, we may have had to fight over the lovely comfy sofa!! One sofa was lovely and comfy with foot rest attached and the others, although nice, were not as good for lounging on and watching a film at night. Maybe a couple of nice foot stools could enhance the comfort of people relaxing in these sofas too. We stayed in here in March and the weather was cold and wet, so it was more a Winter experience rather than Spring. The house was very warm and plenty of hot water each time we needed a shower or bath. We'll definitely be repeat guests! We were sad to leave and could have done another week! Thank you, Katie and Simon

My adult kids and dog's have never been to Anglesey, and this holiday was their Christmas present from us. They loved it, really impressed with everything. Good area where the cottage is, lovely beaches to visit for the pooches. Used Sykes Cottages about 4 times not once have we been disappointed. Do keep up the good work, and we shall be booking again. All very clean beds made up and fluffy towels for every bathroom. We enjoyed the hot tub and all the facilities and when we had queries the owners were quickly available to help out. We loved too the welcoming hospitality package wine, coffee snacks and even something for our 3 little dogs. We needed for nothing except we would have liked our own washing line. Whilst there is a communal line it was busy when we wanted to use it.

  • "Stunning location, beautiful house, garden amazing for the 3 spaniels."

Although apologies to the sheep.... kitchen amazing and soooo much in there, however would request bigger pans. When cooking a roast for 6 adults it was a bit of a test!! Concerned about the level of damp on the walls, and also the bedding felt damp on 1st night. Main disappointment was the outside lights at the back were but working. We chose this place as it had the hot tub, but it meant we could only use during daylight. Also was difficult at the back when letting g the dogs out for pre bed wees. This was really not good.

Many thanks for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your stay at the Manor House, we will purchase some bigger pans as suggested. Regarding the damp, this is a problem with historic buildings built in stone and rubble that are over 150 years old and have extremes of weather in rural locations, they just weren’t designed for modern day living and the water from showers, cooking etc condenses on the cold walls making them seem damp. I am sure you will agree this was in one very small section of a very large house and we do continue the battle to mitigate it!! We are sorry about the outside lighting, unfortunately things do get damaged during the year and it’s not always possible to immediately repair them. We do provide torches in the property as we appreciate it’s rural and there is natural lighting onto the hot tub from the windows as well as in the hot tub itself. We do back onto a nature reserve, so the lighting is only ever low level, as we want to encourage the wildlife to thrive (we have red squirrels, buzzards and hares living on the property and many other visitors including owls, red kites and egrets). We hope you are joking about the sheep? Farming is a livelihood here and although you may know your dogs are friendly, the sheep and farmer don’t! We do ask that dogs are kept under control in the garden (which is secured with a livestock fence) and provide access to separate paddocks should you need somewhere more secure to run your dogs. Our weather was outstanding and the garden was a brilliant bonus for our four legged friends. The property

An imposing, Victorian manor house, The Manor House is a truly remarkable property from which to spend quality time with friends and family whilst exploring the history-enriched Isle of Anglesey, Wales.

Built by the Sheriff of Anglesey in 1866, then later owned by a former Vogue model, you can ensure that this property boasts character and charm.

Heading under the bell tower topping the house, salvaged from a shipwreck in Anglesey in 1853, enter into the lofty hallway and kick off your boots before heading into the spacious sitting room where you can all gather together before the woodburning stove, relaxing on the arrangement of sofas or gathering around the table with its feature woodwork base, as you toast to your terrific holiday.

Move through into the kitchen/diner, a bright and airy room with an abundance of natural light flowing through the windows, the chef of the group will delight in concocting tasty treats for the group in here, as the rest of the group gather around the table at the centre of the room for an evening of laughter and entertainment together.

If you're seeking a quiet spot to yourself, retreat to the suntrap of the conservatory where you can delve into a good book whilst overlooking the beauty of the countryside outside of the surrounding windows.

At the end of a fun-filled day, the cottage offers three delightful bedrooms where you can rest your head, made up of a ground-floor super-king-size benefiting from an en-suite shower room, as well as doubling up as a twin on request, making the perfect place for those less mobile.

Up on the first floor you can find both a family room made up of a king-size and a truckle bed with an en-suite bathroom, perfectly suited to those with young children, along with a further king-size doubling up as twin on request, serviced by the gleaming, family shower room on the ground floor.

The delights of the dwelling continue outside, where a luxurious hot tub awaits you to take a dip as you soak in your scenery up close, the perfect way to end any day on your tranquil trip.

The position of the property makes a wonderful base for those seeking outdoor excitement in the form of rambling, cycling and all-around adventure seeking, with nearby Valley making a great stop to collect any last-minute amenities or indulge in a rewarding pint in the pub.

Head to Rhosneigr for a day at the coast where you can play on the golden sands and indulge in an ice cream beneath the sun, or take a trip to Holy Island, boasting rich history and ferry trips over to Ireland for an experience like no other.
