  • "Lovely barn conversion with every facility."

Bedrooms comfortable and very cosy with underfloor heating and towel rails. Main living area dramatic in looks with modern kitchen area inside period vaulted ceiling barn. Big wood burner and fuel provided. Christmas tree in place with and lights and yule log and crackers provided by Richard the owner. Stunning position near beaches and all points of interest. Private drive among sheep fields and walks to forest. Would highly recommend. Very dog friendly both accommodation and the general area. Imagine this could only be surpassed by going back in summer. Ev charger a good plus.

  • "A fantastic place to stay and to explore Anglesey."

The five of us and two dogs had a really great time. Tithe Barn was fabulous, the en-suites and bedrooms were amazing, spacious, and comfortable, with the Barn itself been very tastefully renovated. The outdoor space was ideal for relaxing in the sun, and for flying our kite. The Dogs loved the grass and the space to explore. A holiday to remember for us all. Thank you.

  • "Despite being caught up in Storm Betty we had a wonderful week staying in Tithe Barn."

It has undergone a beautiful conversion. It is furnished to a high standard and the games room is a definite plus, we were a family of 7 and the three teenage boys loved it. The kitchen has everything you need and the log burner was very welcome during the storm. Richard was on hand if needed and was very prompt sorting out a hot water problem for us. Would definitely return to this lovely location.

  • "Tithe Barn is an amazing property and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!"

It’s lovely and secluded but within easy reach of Newborough and Rhosneigr beaches. We’ve stayed in many places on Anglesey but this was our favourite! The barn has been carefully restored and made a great holiday home for the week-the kids loved the pool table! Richard was very helpful before we picked the keys up and made sure we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend!

  • "As stated in the review I left at the barn, everything was fantastic apart from controlling the heating on the ground floor it got quite chilly, the log burner obviously helped in the main area."

However the bedroom and bathroom was very chilly. Also one thing I forgot to mention, and not meaning to be trivial would have been nice to have some larger bath sheets available. I am going to rebook the barn later for next year. We had a very enjoyable stay there.

My only gripe was the sofa, it was far to low and uncomfortable, we had to brush all the cushions down as they had dog hair all over them The outside wasn’t secure for the dogs to roam. One day we came back to find 6 sheep in the garden. It was stunning inside and a great location for exploring

Quiet location, easy to book and clean. Totally toasty and warm. Our host was easy to reach and friendly and it’s the little things that mean so much to make a stay so welcoming. There’s an abundance of dishwasher and washing machine tablets, bin bags, hard wood for the fire, liquid hand soap in all bathrooms, tea, coffee, sugar etc And to top it off the dogs were also happy

Beautiful barn conversion in ideal setting for exploring island. We’ve come to Anglesey for years so returned to favourite places. We were 8 adults and beds/bathrooms perfect. Lounge cool so lit log burner each night. Real issues with flies not sure why! However would recommend property still.

Thank you for your feedback, we're delighted that the barn worked well and you were able to visit all your favourite places. We have investigated the sudden increase in flies, thanks for raising this. Pest control have treated the velux windows in the games room and thankfully this seems to have done the trick. • "A beautifully and sympathetically restored barn in a perfect location for Newburgh, Aberfraww beaches etc."

The rooms are 5* hotel quality, great baths and totally peaceful location. We cannot understand the previous reviewer's comments, the barn was clean, welcoming and comfortable. We would not hesitate to come back and would highly recommend it.

Thank you for this lovely feedback, we really appreciate the time you have taken to do this. We are delighted to hear you had a great time at the barn and made the most of the surrounding area. When we developed the barn from its ruins, we intended that it would provide spacious accommodation, with high quality fixtures and fittings in a unique and a special environment. However, equally importantly, we have tried to make sure it is completely practical and welcoming for groups of families and friends of all ages, with dogs, to enjoy the local surroundings. We are delighted that you found this combination worked well for your group and thank you again for offering such positive feedback. Property Owner

  • "We all expected a week of luxury but unfortunately no luxury!"

The property was disgustly dirty, unhygienic and not a comfortable chair, sofa or bed at all! You were either sitting too low or sitting and lying on concrete slab and the garden furniture is old, uncomfortable and one chair broke when sat on! Never again! Only stayed 4nights out of 7!

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that you felt the property was not up to standard. The owners did send someone to rearrange the bed configuration for you within an hour of this being requested and the cleaner asked if everything else was satisfactory, which you confirmed it was. The owners also provided 4 fans for you the day after these were requested due to the heatwave at the time. Again you were given the opportunity to raise any other issues but nothing was mentioned and you seemed very grateful for the owners' help. No complaint was raised with Sykes until 4 days after your stay and so the owners had no opportunity to address any concerns during your stay, which they would happily have done so. The property generally receives very good feedback so your comments came as a complete surprise. An offer of compensation was still made as a gesture of goodwill but this was declined. • "I have to say the property was beautiful."

I would have given it 5 stars if the property management had returned calls about a problem with the temperature controls for the bath/shower in the main bathroom. We had tried to contact Richard on the number provided and received no response so we called Sykes who then also tried to call the owners/ management regarding the problem and found that every number the called just rang out. Sykes left messages for them to contact us, but this never happened. This had also been reported in the visitors book by the previous holiday occupants. I had also requested prior to our arrival date, through Sykes, for one of the Zip Links to be made up as twin beds as we needed 2 x twin bedrooms. We found on arrival that this had not been done as requested so an unplanned/ unwanted bed share had to take place for the week. This issues not stop us from staying in this property again as it was beautiful and very comfortable in a lovely quiet location but they really need to improve on their customer support. Having rented holiday cottages for many years now this is the first time that not only did we not receive a courtesy/welcome call from the owners we could not contact them either. This was very disappointing and something that I hope they remedy quickly.

Lovely property and beautiful views. The property is as described and it is well equipped, including an EVCP. However, our stay was over the recent heat wave but the underfloor heating remained on throughout. This is apparently due to the length of time it would take to reheat it if it was turned off. Consequently, it was very warm, so not for you if you like to be cool in warm weather!

Our daughter was getting married in Henblas Country Park just down the road, so it was very convenient for us. Our grandsons loved the space to play and run in the garden and the views from the barn are amazing. The restoration of the barn has been done sympathetically creating a great, modern living space, a log burner which we thoroughly enjoyed on a couple of chilly April evenings and good sleeping accommodation with en suite bathrooms. Plenty of space for everyone. The character of the building has been well preserved too. I would recommend to friends and family.

Ideally located to get to all corners of Anglesey. There's not much around it, but that was perfect for us. The views are spectacular and the place is plenty big enough for a larger group. The contact was more than helpful both before and after the booking. If you have a dog the HUGE closed in areas are perfect for them to run around in.

  • "Overall the barn was absolutely beautiful and a really stunning building renovated to a high standard."

It was the perfect setting for my 30th birthday. Relaxing and peaceful surroundings. Nearest pub a 2 mile walk which we took advantage of. Rare to find a property with all double beds or the ability to sleep all doubles as not everyone wants to take kids on holiday! Fantastic bedroom layout and all a fair size with their own en suites in all but one. A couple of little things I feel require attention (but do not overshadow how lovely our stay was) is the standard of cleaning. I had to clean the shower tray and sink in the master bathroom before using due to previous occupiers soap scum and toothpaste spit. Lightbulbs thick with dust but hang low enough to reach to clean them. There were also dead flies in on the landing windowsill going up to the games room. I guess expectations of cleanliness vary from person to person but for my standards it wasn’t clean. The towel radiator didn’t work in the downstairs en-suite bathroom. We were only provided enough firewood to last a few hours on a cold January night and ended up spending the evening up in the games room. Lacking an outdoor wood store to collect enough wood in to burn during the stay. We asked for more but was told to visit Lidl and buy our own. As we were out for the day this meant one of our party could not drink then as they had to drive to find the supermarket to get more wood for the evening as the underfloor heating was not powerful enough to heat such a large space on its own. Whilst there was fantastic attention to detail on providing tea coffee and sugar in self catering accommodation enough to last for the stay, we were given a tiny bottle of washing up liquid, one scourer and one cleaning cloth. There was also no salt in the dishwasher meaning it wasn’t cleaning plates very well and I found dirty plates in the cupboards which I had to clean before using. I packed items I expected I would need like tea, coffee, sugar, foil and cling film but these were provided. Where I feel firewood and washing up liquid would be items provided in a self catering accommodation and are a higher priority in my opinion. I am not one for giving out negative reviews and if anything I feel like perhaps this can be used more as honest guidance so guests can arrange to bring along their own cleaning products, and firewood for their break away or even be used as a means for improvement on the quality of the cleaner used and facilities provided. Thank you for an unforgettable birthday! We will absolutely still be recommending people to stay here.

Beds were very comfortable and the en suites were exceptional. If I had to criticise one thing in the barn it would be the couch/ settee in the living room which was a bit low and some of the pillows need to be replaced because you got covered in feathers . Pool table was a bonus and we spent a lot of time on there because of the weather but would be a brilliant place to stay in the summer because the views are stunning Thank you for a lovely stay Tina Dickenson

  • "Lovely stay here."

Beautiful building. Very comfy beds, the en suites have been finished to a very high standard. Great location with a secure enough garden to keep our dogs from bothering the neighbouring sheep. Few negatives unfortunately, sofa very low and quite uncomfortable. The living area is very cold when the fire isn’t lit. Didn’t have any logs when we arrived so the first evening was chilly. The underfloor heating in the living area will never get to temperature if just left at 20 degrees. Despite this, brilliant stay and would return.

The owners have thought of everything. The facilities are fantastic. The grounds are beautiful, with the back drop of the Snowden Massif and your own flower meadow it really is the most tranquil place to stay. We found that we were able to access all of the main places on the Island within 25/30mins and could get to Snowden within 45mins. So a great base for exploring everything Anglesey and North Wales has to offer. Newborough Forest is worth the visit for the different walks and to explore the forest and sandy beach. Sunset is stunning here! We would 100% recommend staying here and we will be coming back soon!!

! The barn is beautiful and finished to a high standard. Very spacious, there was 6 of us and 2 small dogs and we had plenty of room to not be under each other’s feet. The kitchen was very well equipped. Bathrooms were all lovely, brilliant showers, and the big bath was amazing! We spent a lot of our evenings in the games room which was fun. The only things which all of us found was that the living room sofa is so uncomfortable - very low to the floor and low backed and the internet WiFi was poor - it doesn’t work upstairs think it would of benefited from being hard wired. we found we was using our hot spot on our phones to run the smart TV in the games room. However this didn’t spoil our stay and we would defiantly return. The bottle of Prosecco and Welsh cakes was a lovely gesture also!

The property

From roofless ruins to a spectacular, well-appointed holiday home, Tithe Barn "Winner of Best Renovation Award 2021 " holds a wealth of history in its rustic stone walls, dating back to 1737 and Grade II listed, this outstanding property has been sympathetically renovated to offer a memorable retreat for a family or group of eight.

For some years this former Tithe Building was a place where local residents came to pay their taxes in the 1700s, handing 10% of their salary over to the church parish, and has been sat in Capel Mawr, near to Malltreath, as a stone shell open to the elements before the loving restoration work began.

Striking features include the huge high ceiling within the open-plan living space, the idyllic, large surrounding grounds, and quality fixtures and fittings around every corner.

Set over three floors, begin your journey into this stunning abode on the ground floor in the open-plan living space, where a sleek white kitchen complete with all the mod cons you can think of provides somewhere to cook up delicious food for the group.

A long dining table lies beneath feature lighting hanging from the rafters above, with plenty of space for all to gather amidst this beautifully lit space with natural light from the many windows and Velux skylights.

The huge corner sofa will invite you in to settle down as you choose a film to play on the large 65" Smart TV, with a dramatic and contemporary woodburning stove to add to the warmth of the eco heating.

Discover a handy utility room on the ground floor as well as two gorgeous bedrooms, both boasting super-king-size beds which can be transformed to twin rooms on request, with one benefitting from a pristine shower room and the other served by the wonderful ground-floor bathroom.

Take the stairs to the first floor to find two further elegant sleeping spots, comprising a twin room which can be made up into a super-king-size on request, complete with an en-suite shower room, and an attractive king-size bedroom, adjoining a dreamy en-suite bathroom where a freestanding bath tub and a large walk-in shower both offer an equally as relaxing option for you to wind down at the end of a busy day.

Enjoy evenings relishing the company of your loved ones as you have fun in the second-floor games room amidst the roof beams, where a bar area lies to the rear for well-deserved drinks and a pool table providing endless entertainment, along with quality sofas for those who want to relax.

The wonder continues outside the property on the gorgeous grounds with a lawn for little ones and pets to play on, pretty wildflowers blowing in the breeze coming from the coast, and is a perfect place to stargaze after enjoying alfresco dining on the patio furniture.

If you can tear yourself away from this scenic setting, venture out to the many attractions of Anglesey to appreciate this stunning location in full, whether rambling through the refreshing countryside, or visiting one of the beautiful beaches.

Find the nearest convenience store in the nearby village of Bethel and a pub on the road up to Llangefni, a market town boasting all you need for your self-catered stay, with historic buildings to admire and Oriel Môn, a contemporary museum and art gallery.

Pack your beach bags and a picnic and head down to the gorgeous shores of Newborough Beach, with golden sands to relax on and play, backed by an enchanting forest with walking, cycling and mountain-biking trails to try too.

Visit the charming village of Rhosneigr to spend a day trying out a new watersport with a surf school here and hire a shop so you can create some memorable moments on Rhosneigr Beach, afterwards visiting the local ice cream parlour or beachfront restaurants to end the day perfectly.

Family-friendly attractions on Anglesey include the Pili Palas Nature World with a small petting zoo, Anglesey Sea Zoo home to a shark pool and a café, Foel Farm Park, Anglesey Model Village and Anglesey Transport Museum.

Venture north-west up to Holy Island to find the dreamy, white sands of Trearddur Bay and a host of excellent restaurants and cafés, as well as the town of Holyhead where regular ferries leave to go to Dublin, so you can delight in an exciting excursion for the day to sip a refreshing Guinness in a real Irish pub!

The Isle of Anglesey Coast Path is perfect for those who prefer to explore on foot whilst taking in the incredible seascapes and coastal scenery, with views over to Eryri (Snowdonia) and the Llyn Peninsula to admire, as well as opportunities for sea safaris and boat trips to see the wildlife in the surrounding waters including seals and puffins.

A spectacular and unique holiday home, Tithe Barn is a splendid retreat to Anglesey that you've been waiting for.
