  • "Lovely location, disgusting cottage."

Following on from recent reviews (seen after we booked unfortunately) its fair to say the cottage is rarely if ever properly cleaned. There is a very serious fly infestation - which is already noted by a previous guest and clearly hasn’t been resolved. We found the kitchen and general arrears to be dirty, hairs and dead flies in cupboards and ward robes and a particularly dirty toilet brush chucked on top of the spare pillows in the main wardrobe. The cleanliness and upkeep was so bad - we decided against using a single cup, kettle or toaster - not a single hot drink or piece of toast for the whole holiday - and we paid over £1300 for the privilege. Poor from the owner, poor from Sykes for not acting on previous complaints

The cottage is cleaned after every booking by Sykes recommended cleaners for considerable expense. We are so sorry you were disappointed. The whole of Anglesey had issues with flies this season which proved difficult to remove. we have received many excellent reviews about our cottage complimenting us on the cottage and it’s position walking distance from the beach Property Owner

  • "I have waited a week and half to hopefully receive a favourable reply or solution to our stay at Quarterdeck."

Wouldn't recommend, the only thing going for it is the location. We left a night early, sick of cleaning flys up. Here is the list sent to Sykes and the owner, no apology, no offer of a partial refund. I am not petty, this place simply was not worth £1500!!! Sykes and the owner have all the photos. 1) Fly infestation, this is not an odd fly, they are particularly bad in the kitchen. New ones appear every day and alot of them. In cupboards, everywhere. 2) There was a toilet brush on the spare pillows in the double bedroom cupboard. 3) The chopping boards were filthy and smelled. 4) The kitchen hadn't been cleaned properly, towards the back of the worktops were dirty and also the splash back. 5) The crumb catcher in the toaster hadnt been emptied, what looked like for months. 4) The TV in the lounge isn't working properly. 5) There were cracks in the plaster in the lounge. 6) The window catch in the "kids" bedroom is broken off, leaving a gap in the window, so letting wind through. 7) The shelf holders in the fridge were dirty.

Sorry about the window catches they have now been repaired along with the cracks in the wall. Property Owner

  • "The Quarterdeck was very comfortable, clean and well equipped."

Milk and bara brith left for us which was very thoughtful. It is in a great location with easy walking to the beach and restaurants, (about 5-10 minutes.) Would stay again if in the area.

    Thanks Julie Property Owner

Able to keep nice and warm in December. Slight issue - one of the double mattresses was a bit uncomfortable.

  • "Basically the cleanliness of the Quarterdeck was not up to spec and I text the owner to let him know, bins not emptied from last guests could not get another bag in the bin, wife had to clean all the crockery because all the cups where dirty, pet hairs everywhere, carpet, table, couch, cloths full of hairs, difficult to lock and unlock sliding door at the front, toilet seat broken that was glued together."

The owner text we to say he was sorry and would send a maintenance man around and he come the next day, he told me he was waiting for a plumber to fix toilet seat, the door has always been a problem sometimes he's called by the cleaners because they can not get in, and the last guests had 3 dogs staying there ?, loverly cottage but not up to spec of what it should be, we should not be doing all the above on holiday.

You'll have the best of rolling countryside, charming villages and idyllic beaches across the island, including Beaumaris with its unique castle and a picturesque pier to walk along with ice cream in hand; the likes of Lligwy Beach and Traeth Llanddwyn are two examples of Anglesey's beautiful beaches.
