"Great cottage in a very good location."
Parking a bit tight but I guess not a lot can be done about that and you could park on the road. Would have been great if there had been use of a washing machine
We updated the kitchen last year to include a dishwasher and removed the washing machine. We are in the process of making a utility room with a washing machine and additional loo but unfortunately this wasn’t finished in time for this season. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner
"Beautiful house, just as described ."
Loved it and will certainly be booking again.
"Lovely place near shops , forest and beach ."
.only drawback we found was the parking ..it was in a tiny concealed entrance on the main road...very difficult to get in and even worse to get out if the car that has the parking space next to it was there ..you had to actually reverse onto the main road which is illegal .
The parking isn’t ideal and when we first let out the property didn’t offer it but guests were using the space anyway so we included it in the listing. We have never had to reverse on to the road and have a large car ourselves. So glad you had a good time and enjoyed the location. Property Owner
"The property is well maintained, clean, comfortable and well fitted out."
Shower/bathroom is fab & so is the kitchen - contained everything you need to self cater. It is warm, cosy and perfectly placed for walking in and around Holyhead. Supermarkets & beach/coastal path are 10 minutes walk or less. There is a large wooded country park just along the coast too & various ruins to explore. We had a fabulous time & so did our two hounds - they were made to feel particularly welcome. Excellent communication too from the owner. Happy to rate highly & a fab place to stay.
"So the location is brilliant the beach within easy walking distance for the dogs and lots of grass to run around on age for off lead walking."
The house was comfortable with plenty of room and a secure garden
"We had a lovely stay and the cottage provided everything you would need (except for a broom-2 dogs so would have been useful but not an issue)."
New kitchen is lovely - beds very comfy and an excellent shower. Its a great base for visiting lots of places of interest - which we did. It is only 5 min walk to dog friendly coastal walk beach. The surrounding beaches and coves were easily accessible. Treddhur and Penrhos are lovely as was Breakwater country park and South Stack and Beaumaris (castle) is a must. The weather was surprising very good-bonus! There is a small trading estate within walking distance with Tesco Morrison Aldi Home Bargains New Look Iceland Wilko KFC and petrol. Communication with the owner Karen was excellent and she quickly sorted out 2 very minor issue satisfactory. Great time - would visit again as we didn't get to see/do everything. Thanks
"We had a fabulous time and the house was an excellent base to explore Anglesey."
It is a five minute walk from the coast and five minutes in the car from the beach at Trearddur Bay. We had no problem parking on the road and the owner was in touch to make sure we had everything we needed along with recommendations for restaurants and places to visit.
"We had a lovely stay, it's ideally located to explore the whole island."
Super close to very convenient supermarkets. 5 minute walk to the nearest beach perfect for our dog, thoughtful touches in the house, dog bed treats and bowels. The fridge!!! Super comfy beds plenty of extra blankets.
"We spent a week at Glan Y Wern as a family of four, with two tweenagers and our dog in July."
The space suited us perfectly - it had everything we needed; it is even better than the photos! Inside was modern, clean, comfortable and homely. Outside, the enclosed garden was safe and a good size for our dog. The owner was excellent- good communication throughout - warm and helpful. The local area was great for us - Penrhos beach was a 3 minute walk away and perfect for long dog walks. Trearddur Bay is just a 5 minute drive away with a stunning beach and lots of watersports options. We loved our first trip to Anglesey and Glan y Wern was a great base for us to explore from.
"Loved the cottage, even nicer than the photos and plenty of room for a family of four."
Cosy, lovely wood and chunky walls and stunning large bathroom. We had a really relaxing stay, plenty to see in the local area and the owners were helpful and friendly in communications. Thanks very much, just right for a much needed holiday!
"We enjoyed our holiday in this lovely comfortable very spotless clean house."
loved cooking in the beautiful new kitchen the beds were very comfortable, there was big garden for our doggy and some days we sat in the garden enjoying the beautiful weather. We love the area, beautiful beaches 5 mins walk away, very close to the shops and supermarkets.the only downside to this property is the parking round at the back which is very tight we have a small estate car and struggled no good for a big vehicle.but overall we had a lovely time at this beautiful house Glan Yr Wern.
"I thought the cottage was lovely and well presented."
There were supposed to be two of us, and the owner kindly agreed that we could bring our 3 dogs. However, with Covid 19, my friend and her two dogs couldn't come as restrictions on movement were in place, so it was just me and my dog. The cottage was warm and cosy, and I slept like a log as there was no noise. The garden was fully enclosed with stone walls (some cottages I've been to say enclosed, but not really secure and have to take dog out with a lead). The kitchen was well equipped. And a real treat was a bath to soak in.
"We had a fabulous, relaxing holiday ."
It was so nice to get away in these uncertain times. The house was gorgeous and we were perfectly located for travelling all over Anglesey.
"We had a lovely time at Glan Yr Wern."
We were a bit anxious about travelling post lockdown but there was plenty of hand sanitizer and the house had been completely cleaned. This house is the best located cottage we have stayed in with Sykes, there are plenty of shops and places to eat nearby as well as supermarkets and it is a good location to explore. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we didn't do any of that, but we went to the beach and the coastal park daily (the coastal park is beautiful) and we played with our daughter in the garden, and it was just what we needed.
"Such a great place for exploring Anglesey, many lovely beaches & places of interest to visit."
The house was spacious, comfortable and stylish. Convenient to shops. A refreshing break.
"THE PROPERTY WAS WELL LOOKED AFTER AND THE DECOR TO OUR TASTE."
PLENTY OF INFORMATION LEAFLETS WERE AVAILABLE FOR US TO CHECK OUT THE SURROUNDINGS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR TAKEAWAYS AS WELL, VERY NICE. IT WAS ALL THAT THE INFORMATION GIVEN TO US CLAIMED TO BE, AND WE WOULD GLADLY STAY THERE AGAIN.
"Lovely, comfortable house with everything you need for a great holiday."
Good central location if you want to eat out and everything you need if you want to eat in.
"We had a fantastic week in the house."
The house itself exceeded all expectations in terms of homeliness and comfort. It was a perfect base for us to explore Anglesey and we all enjoyed our holiday so much - the house played a huge part in our enjoyment!
"Glan y Wern is beautifully furnished, clean and had everything you need to make your stay comfortable."
The garden was great for our cockapoo. The cottage was in a great location and we were able to get most places on Anglesey within 30mins in the car. This was our first stay in Wales and we found Anglesey very picturesque and unspoilt which was really refreshing. Holyhead mountain and country park had beautiful views of the coastline and Newborough beach is a must.
"We have never explored this part of Anglesey before but it's now our favourite part - we had one of the best holidays ever!"
It didn't feel like someone else's home we felt so relaxed in fact my mum said we will have to go for 2 weeks next time and even wanted to buy the house! The beaches nearby and parks were amazing. It is an excellent base to explore the whole of Anglesey we really didn't want to come home. The owner Karen has great taste and you can tell she cares and wants you to have a good time.
"The cottage was brilliant and the finishing touches made it so welcoming."
It really was very homely and there wasn't much I would change if it were my own home. Garden was secure and is a great sun trap too. I thought that it may be noisy being on a main road but I was surprised at how quiet it was. The welcome pack (including one for the dog) was really nice. Location was good too with lovely walks, beaches and places of interest nearby. Price was a winner too.
"Garden furniture needs attention and no parking was a problem as on busy road,"
"House was perfect for our needs and very comfortable."
Having 2 lounge areas was brilliant for us and the snug was so cosy. A good base for exploring Anglesey.
"The property was perfect for the Christmas break."
The house was decorated nicely in the Christmas theme. Plenty of cooking utensils and cookery. The oven was large. Children were happy as Netfix's was available and WiFi was good. Beds were comfortable. Cosy atmosphere throughout the house. 5 minutes walk to the beach and enjoyed a nice 2 hour walk along the beach up to nature reserve and back along the headland with the dog. Many different routes to try without having to take the car. 5 minutes walk to shopping area including supermarkets and fast food. Grateful for the dog feeding bowl and large dog towel that was made available during the stay.
"The cottage manages to be both spacious and cozy at the same time!"
It has the welcoming feel of a real family home. It's ideally situated near to main road links and local amenities at the retail park, so is very convenient. I would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a convenient base to explore Anglesey!
Loved the decor, it was so tasteful. We were so comfortable, it felt like a home from home. We didn’t want to leave. There was everything we could need and so handy for shops, also only a 5 minute walk to the beach. The enclosed garden was great for our dog. We’re already planning our next visit. I would not hesitate to recommend Glan Yr Wern to anyone, families, couples or friends. Fantastic stay!!
"Loved the house and location."
Found it rather dark with all the grey emulsion but a lady after my own heart with all the hand and face cream around. Loved all the seaside bric a brac around the house. Would stay again
"This cottage is like home from home but better."
It’s in a perfect location with a pub and all local amenities within 5 minutes walk. They have put so much time and effort into making this home so welcoming....we certainly didn’t want to have to leave. Being able to take the dogs was an added bonus with the local beach only 5 minutes walk away where we met lots of other doggy friends. The welcome pack was an extra special touch with even one for the dogs. I would highly recommend you staying at Glan Yr Wern as you most certainly won’t be disappointed.

About the location
Trearddur Bay 3 miles.
The bustling town of Holyhead rests on the North West coast of the Isle of Anglesey, the largest town on the island and perhaps known best for being the main ferry port to Ireland. Steeped in history, the town boasts the remains of Roman town walls and forts, medieval burial chambers and stone village foundations. Explore the Breakwater Country Park, a former quarry, which offers designated walks through the grounds. The park is full of interesting wildlife, most notably the seals who visit the Holyhead coast, and outlines the amazing construction of the world's longest breakwater, some 1.8 miles, which today protects the harbour. Visit the colourful marina with its yachts and tall ships, or the town's maritime museum, with its tales of 100 shipwrecks in the vicinity. Day trips to Ireland can be enjoyed easily from here, with Dublin just 90 minutes away on the fast ferry. With spectacular cliff top walks over Holyhead Mountain, golden sandy beaches at the award winning Trearddur Bay and the Snowdonia National Park just a 20 minute drive away, this is a superb holiday location, at any time of the year.
