  • "What a gem!"

Just had the perfect week at Cwm Farm. A beautiful cottage in a fabulous location, totally peaceful and secluded yet close to Trearddur Bay. Fantastic walks right from the door - both on the farmland & down the lane to the coast & local shop. It had everything we have ever looked for in a holiday cottage including comfy beds! Parked the car on arrival & didn’t get back in until it was time to come home. We even got our own fly past from the Red Arrows. I’ve already booked our next trip.

  • "What an adorable cottage/farm."

So private, yet so near to general amenities, beautiful beaches and the sheer joy of what Anglesey has to offer. The cottage itself is spacious and beautiful and set in an amazing location, with walks galore and breath taking views. Susanna, the owner, was beyond helpful and informative. We managed to secure a second week with her help, which made our family break exceptional. I cannot recommend this holiday cottage enough - especially for those that relish privacy and peace and quiet.

  • "Great place."

We have been coming every year for over 10 years. Particularly good are: 1) The large, extensively kitted out kitchen. You can cook/bake anything here without bringing your own kit. 2) The barn with the table tennis table. Perfect for family rainy days 3) The massive estate that is yours to wander for your stay. It has extensive paths cut across the fields or through the woods, two beaches on the inland sea where you can launch small boats/dinghies/paddle boards and even a private island. Although some of the many fields have sheep and cows (dogs on lead) there are may that don't where dogs can run free. Highly recommended.

The views are stunning and we loved having access to the inland sea to walk our dog. I noticed a few reviews mentioning issues with hot water, but we had no problem there. The owner was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Thank you for a fab holiday!

  • "Great location, peaceful and quiet with lovely walks down to sea but only ten to fifteen minutes walk to Trearddur, furnishings and rugs are a little bit tired but expected with a Farmhouse, Kitchen is well equipped and views are excellent, the biggest downside for us was the constant lack of Hot water for a shower or bath, there was only three in our party and if one of us managed a luke warm shower at best there was no Hot water for anyone else, the only way we managed a bath was to boil water in Pans and kettle !"

If you can cope with this it is a wonderful setting.

  • "The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay, the walks planned out with lawn cut paths to mark the way were a gem, the views are stunning, and the private beach an added bonus, our dog knew the way to the water after the first time we walked it and could be off his lead most of the way from the doorstep, only on the lead when in the field with sheep, he loved the swimming."

If you as we do love a secluded holiday this is for you as it is very private.

  • "A lovely location and surroundings."

Unfortunately this is spoiled by lack of hot water. The boiler is old and needs replacing. The owner emailed me the night before admitting problems with the heating system. I replied to that email requesting some more logs and fan heaters in case there was a problem. We are in December. No reply. I rang caretaker who got a plumber out. He topped up the internal pressure but the result was only a trickle of hot water at the bath tap. An oil fired boiler 8 times the size of my small boiler at home which can produce 5 times the amount of hot water. We were 4 adults. This is a premium price, high season rental and I expect premium facilities. These are not even basic facilities. I expect a partial refund for this. Live mains sockets hanging off the wall. No security/drive lighting outside. Muddy slip hazard to front door. No hair dryer. This is an amateur operation. Photos available. Last but not least, to be expected to go out and buy toilet paper at Christmas is to say the least ridiculous. I will be in touch with Sykes in order to take this further.

beds very comfy - we loved that we were so private yet only a short distance from shops and pubs /restaurants - the grounds also were great for a wonder and explore

The owner sent us a welcome message including a map of the farm land. Love the grass paths that were mowed making it easy to find our way round to the private beach on inland sea. Great for the dog. We would certainly book again.

  • "The cottage was a good size and the area was peaceful, with some lovely scenery."

However, we found the cleanliness very disappointing - with black around the fridge seals and dishwasher in the kitchen. Black around the taps in the bathroom and downstairs wc, an old 'unsealed' bare wooden toilet seat in the downstairs wc. In the lounge the covers on the soft furnishings were dirty and threadbare, and the rug on the floor was particularly dirty and threadbare. The property also had 2 leaking radiator pipes, which were reported. Overall the property needs updating and a deep clean. With the current state of Covid19 we would have expected a cleaner environment!

The cottage is lovely and very quiet and the grounds it is set in are wonderful for walking the dog and kids. You are near enough to Treadur Bay to walk in about 10 minutes and the supermarkets / shops should you need them are close by. Some doorways upstairs and the ceiling on the stairs are low but my 6' 5" partner managed without hitting his head too often. We will be visiting again.

The fact that the house owns so much land is an added bonus and is worth exploring. The location of the modern shower room is a little strange as it is next to the large barn and not really within the main house! However, the house bathroom is fine but has a bath and no shower. Would certainly consider booking this property again as the house is very comfortable and well equipped in a great location.

We did find ourselves in need of assistance and the very detailed contact list on the notice board in the kitchen proved invaluable to contact somebody to help us. Cwm Farm is unique. From the moment you arrive and get the fire going, you are at home, with absolutely everything you need having been thought of and available for your use. The location is fantastic being surrounded by open countryside and with the waterside being a short walk away. A real bonus was the sight of a red squirrel in the grounds. There are few places we would return to as we generally think that there are too many places to visit in a life time to go back anywhere, but Cwm Farm could prove to be the exception to the rule! Thank you Susannah for sharing this beautiful place.

The property

Trearddur Bay 0.6 miles.

A superbly positioned, traditional farmhouse, Cwm Farm is set in a stunning coastal location, with private coastal access surrounded by 40-acres of meadow and woodland, located close to the superb Blue Flag sandy beaches at Trearddur Bay, on the west coast of Anglesey.

This traditional, detached cottage with outbuildings boasts long stretches of private coastline, with launching access across a field from a shallow beach.

The cottage enjoys a picturesque bluebell wood, mature orchard and meadow gardens, and being surrounded by 40-acres of grazing the location could not be more peaceful and tranquil.

Set 350 yards down a private lane, this wonderful, detached cottage is secluded, idyllic and boasts original charm and character with original fixtures and fittings retained and reinstated during its refurbishment where possible.

The cottage offers three characterful bedrooms, furnished in sympathy with the history of the original farmhouse, to provide a king-size bedroom and two twin rooms, the smaller furnished with a couple of 2’ 6” beds making it ideal for children to make their own, whilst two family bathrooms provide both bath and shower options for the family to enjoy.

The kitchen and dining room create a welcoming congregational area for guests to enjoy a social evening with good food and company, whilst a cosy sitting room provides the ideal area to retire to in the evening to relax and chat in front of the open plan fire.

A bright and airy sun room offers seating for everyone, be it for a relaxing glass of wine or to plan the exciting activities for the coming days this is a perfect group space.

A spacious hallway offers a reading area where you can retreat with a good book to get away from it all.

A rustic barn room acts as a play area, party room or could even be utilised to create a medieval banqueting hall for a unique dining experience if required.

Outside the cottage offers an unequalled opportunity to enjoy your own unspoilt private coastline, wander along hidden paths with your dogs and explore the private beach, woodland and fields.

The garden immediately around the house is mown and offers both sunny and shaded seating areas in abundance, and for the more energetic water enthusiasts enjoy the tranquillity of the inland sea by canoe or windsurf from the small beach accessed from the house across a field.

Within an easy drive is the stunning Red Wharf Bay with its fabulous beach, Beaumaris with its castle and town, the National Trust's Plas Newydd and Newborough Beach.

All of this, plus Trearddur Bay just a short walk away will have you returning again and again to this fantastic private holiday location, Cwm Farm.
