Plenty of space and comfortable bed. We took our own duvet and pillows as my partner is allergic to feathers but that was fine. So nice to come back from a walk and get into the hot tub to chill out. We loved that you can see the wild life from the window we saw a badger for the first time, we also saw lots of rabbits as well. Would love to go again, the walk is more more than 5 mins to the beach walking but it was still short enough for us.

However, we did notice a few items that had been left by previous people in a drawer and underneath wardrobe/bedside table. A few minor things such as a blind in the main bathroom and more cleaning products would have been useful. But, overall a lovely place, particularly the hot tub and outdoor area. Thank you

  • "This is our third stay at Pen Y Graig with our family."

We always have a lovely time. The cottage is spotless and the owners are really quick to rectify any problems. The only niggle we had was the cleanliness of the hot tub. When we arrived it had sand and dirt in it and obviously hadn’t been cleaned from the previous stays. We contacted the owners and he got in contact with the guy who Maintains it. We learned that it’s only cleaned and the water changed every third stay so if you are the third stay there have been two other families using it and the water. This may mean you could do with checking prior to your stay if , like us you prefer not to bath in others water. The maintenance man put in anti foamer and some new tablets and also topped up the water as it was very low. Other than this the cottage is amazing , we love it and would be happy to book again.

  • "Beautiful cottage in beautiful location."

Would definitely love to come back. Just a couple of things to make our stay even more enjoyable is a mat on each door entrance so that we can wipe our feet when coming in from outside as this would save grass etc being brought into the cottage. The mat for the hot tub was missing too. The door in the conservatory was very stiff. It wouldn't lock at one stage but fortunately the men came to cut the grass and we borrowed some WD40 and put plenty on the locks of the door which seemed to work. I think the locks have just got rusty over time. Again without the door mat grass once cut, kept coming in on our feet which wasn't great. Only small things as we did have a lovely time. Thank you.

The cottage was extremely well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The beds were the comfiest beds we’ve ever slept in! The only issue we had was that the garden was not enclosed as stated. An Inquisitive dog will find his way out as we experienced! It was disappointing the hot tub wasn’t working but we appreciated the refund.

The garden cannot be totally enclosed, but it is very hard for a dog to escape out of the back and through all the heather and gorse. The description states partially enclosed. My dogs do not roam, but a more inquisitive one could try.... The hot tub is now working again, it was only out of commison whilst we waitied for a repair, which took a week and a half and covered two bookings. Both bookings were told before they cam and discounts were offered. One chose to cancel. We are always honest and realise the hot tub really adds to it. This was unavoidable. Property Owner

  • "My family and I spent a lovely week in Treaddeur Bay during October half term."

It is a lovely part of Anglesey to visit and isn’t too far from a range of large retailers in Holyhead in case you need anything. There are plenty of nice eateries and a nice selection of beaches all within easy reach. Unfortunately upon arrival at the cottage was an issue, it would seem that all of the extra cleanliness measures that have been in place due to Covid were deemed no longer necessary at this property – as I have also noticed is attested to in other recent reviews. There were crumbs in the bread bin, cookie tin, on the kitchen surfaces (which were also constantly sticky) and cupboards. There was grease from previous occupants splashed up cupboard sides near the hob, cupboard fronts were dirty and the rubbish bin needed disinfecting. There were layers of dust on most things, most notably the photo frames in the hall way. Unfortunately the only cleaning products provided was washing up liquid, so we had to purchase our own. The beds and pillows were very soft – perfect if you like that kind of comfort. There isn’t much storage in the main bedroom as only half of the wardrobe can be used by guests, there is also a chest of drawers available. There is a certain scent to the property, which turned out to be damp as there is black mould in a corner of the main bedroom and conservatory and damp traps can be found in most rooms to try and mitigate against this. The hot tub was plenty big enough for the 4 of us – however the owners have preset the temperature to go no higher than 37 degrees – which at this time of year meant it rapidly dropped to 35 degrees which just wasn’t warm enough. However, a simple Google search provides you with the information you need to override this. There was also insubstantial hot water provided from the boiler to be able to use the jacuzzi bath. The log burner is a lovely feature in the living room and gets the room nice and toasty – however make sure that you clean up ALL of your ashes or else you will receive a complaint from the owner. The garden is advertised as enclosed and dog friendly – it most certainly isn’t enclosed at the back and could be quite dangerous for an inquisitive dog. There is however, a picnic table here where you can get lovely views over the bay on a nice day. The departure time is strictly 10am on day of departure, we were being rushed out by the cleaners from approx. 9.30am. The sting in the tail from this holiday were the accusations that were made of us and the penalty fees that were imposed once we were home to the tune of an almost additional £150. Accidentally one of our children got a slight mark on one of the single duvet covers – the owners alleged that we left ALL of the linen and towel heavily soiled and claimed they had to be laundered twice at an initial estimate of £50 which when formally invoiced increased to £84. Photos of 2 towels with what looked to be fake tan or foundation were also sent to us as evidence of our ‘mess’. They were most certainly not towels from our stay. In any case as the stain on the bedding was spotted pre wash as the photos sent to us show, I would have expected a pre wash stain remover to have been used to prevent double laundering. The grill pan had seen better days and had rust on it, but was still usable. Upon using it the rusty screw holding the handle to the pan fell out – we were invoiced for a brand new grill pan (with 2 pizza trays added on) surely this is wear and tear of their own equipment which isn’t the responsibility of guests to foot the bill for. It was also alleged that we had damaged a leak prevention seal around the bath. We had seen no evidence of one of these during our stay, let alone damage one. No signage was evident either to warn people to be careful as such a measure was in place – which would be useful for guests staying in the future. It feels to us that an opportunity was taken to unscrupulously get more money out of us the renters and has left a very bitter taste in our mouths. I would advise to rent this property with caution (and possibly not with children in case they get a mark on anything or accidentally damage something) as we even had a complaint that a hairdryer had been left in the wrong bedroom! The irony of the cleanliness not being up to scratch when we arrived is uncanny. I was very disappointed with Sykes handling of these claims as I apologised for the ‘damage’ that we had caused and ultimately agreed to pay the extortionate laundry bill which I expect based on the original lower estimate had other elements lumped into it. At no point was I given the option of a more cost effective replacement of the single duvet cover and it would seem in contrast that no attempt was made to repair the grill pan, a new item was immediately sought. It was very much the owner is correct is what they are claiming, pay up. I only wish I had had the hindsight to take pictures of the cottage upon arrival and sent invoices for our cleaning product, cleaning time and air freshening products!

If guests have any issues at all upon arrival, or during their stay, they are welcome to telephone us or email us (all details are provided in the welcome email and in the guidebook, as well as through Sykes). Guests should not be expected to put up with a substandard house. At all times we will put issues right in a very timely manner. Property Owner

So much space. Decor is gorgeous, so we'll equips, and lots of lovely little touches, like the prosecco, Welsh cakes and bits left for us on arrival. The main bed is HUGE!!! And I think the comfiest bed I've ever slept in. The garden, the hot tub, the furniture, the bbq, the view!!!!! Just an amazing property in a lovely quiet location but close enough to the bay. I was so sad coming home and we will be back for sure. My one suggestion would be a new bin. Or an extra bin or too with the one that's there. Recycling is a must, but with only one bin we found that we ended up with general rubbish in the bin (non recycleable), and then a pile of paper rubbish stacked up on the table for the paper bin, and a pile of glass/plastic rubbish in a corner of the kitchen. If we didn't do this we would have to go out to the big bins on the front every time we had a piece of plastic or paper, so just another couple of bins the same as the one that's already there labelled up would make this much easier. But honestly..... can't wait to come back xxxx

The windows were in need of a clean and there was crumbs in the fridge and freezer. We also picked up wrappers from under the sofa. I don’t think the hot tub had been cleaned between stays as there was some grass in there and during our stay the water levels reduced to well below the top jets. Also the handy man visits and puts things away and closes the tub during the stay which meant We couldn’t use the bbq Friday night as it had gone on our return from the shop to get the buns so we had to use the kitchen on a really warm night. I had arranged to stay at this cottage for my dad's birthday and he had a great time. I would describe this place as somewhere you could make family memories. The attention to detail was second to none, thinking of all possibilities such as providing books to read, cookery books for baking on potentially rainy days, picnic plates and pretty much every kitchen utensil you could think of! My only suggestion (and this is in no way a criticism and exceedingly small) would be for a pizza cutter because for the life of me I couldn't find it and I am pretty sure there will be one somewhere as there was everything you could ever want in the kitchen :) I hope the way we left the place is to the owners satisfaction and if in any way not, please do not hesitate to contact myself. A well-presented detached bungalow within easy access of Trearddur Bay on the Isle of Anglesey.

Set in a private, secluded location, half a mile from the popular beach and amenities of Trearddur Bay, makes this a perfect place for a family holiday or a get together with a few friends.

On entering the cottage, you will notice the high standard of furnishing throughout giving a lovely contemporary feel.

There are three bedrooms leading off the hallway, with a family bathroom.

The L-shaped kitchen is bright and airy and has everything needed to cook those home-cooked meals, even with a small dining table, making it a delightful place to socialise or plan your day’s activities over breakfast.

The spacious sitting room is light and bright with dual aspect windows, giving lovely views across the open fields.

There is plenty of comfy seating with a multi-fuel stove making a great place to relax after a full day out and about.

This then leads you into a good-sized conservatory which houses a lovely dining table and even a small sofa, making it an ideal place to relax with a good book.

To the back of the cottage is a large lawned garden which is partly enclosed and secluded with excellent views down to the bay and possibly to the sea on clear days.

There is a good-sized decking area with furniture as well as access to the fantastic hot tub.

Cafés, restaurants, shops and pubs are only a short walk away from this lovely Trearddur Bay cottage, while the local golf club, birdwatching and cliff walks at South Stack Lighthouse are easily accessible.

About the location

TREARDDUR BAY

Holyhead 2 miles.

Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of Holy Island. It’s truly beautiful - a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine sandy beaches (European Blue Flag). Watersports, bathing, sailing and windsurfing are the main activities in the summer months and golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course. It’s a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve and lots of rock pools and cliff top walks to explore. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, an interesting harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. The Maritime Museum in Holyhead has an excellent cafe and the beautiful Holyhead Breakwater Country Park has walks for you to enjoy. Further afield there is the stunning Newborough with its excellent woodland and beach and Beaumaris with its town and castle. A great location with plenty to see and do!
