Positives - the view is magnificent. The Chateau is very quirky with beautiful gardens. Great location for touring. The Gate House - the carpet either needs a really good clean or better still a tiled floor putting in. The dirty carpet as you walk in spoils the whole appearance of the Gate House. There are numerous light bulbs that need replacing - the downstairs shower is extremely noisy, emitting a loud shriek when turned on. As previous guests have noted - a microwave would be an asset, however, there would be no room to put one. Although we were very comfortable being only 2 of us, it's hard to see how 4 people would manage the kitchen/dining area comfortably. The parking is very strange - there is very little room outside the main Chateau entrance and the maneuvers that people have to go through to park there makes entertaining viewing - however - there is a lower car park in the grounds of the Chateau which has plenty of parking space at all times. We parked in this lower car park, after dropping our bags off, with no problems whatsoever - you do have to walk a short distance through the Chateau grounds to get into the Chateau and you can then use their lift to get up to the Gate House level if you needed. We loved actually walking through the grounds and up a few steps to the Gate House but anyone with mobility issues would not be able to do that. We found the staff very friendly and helpful at all times. Luxury white fluffy towels and dressing growns plus L'Occitane products in the shower rooms were a nice touch plus a good supply of tea and coffee to start you off - the staff also offered room service if we required it.

About the location

GLYNGARTH

Menai Bridge 1.6 miles; Beaumaris 3 miles; Bangor 4.3 miles.

Glyngarth is in a fantastic setting in between Beaumaris and Menai Bridge overlooking the Menai Straits. Often a brilliant blue, these shallow tidal waters are crossed by two bridges, allowing easy access to the attractions of Anglesey and the mainland. The castle and pier at Beaumaris make a lovely day out, or you can catch a boat to enjoy a trip out to Puffin Island. The Anglesey Coastal Path takes in beautiful scenery, and the island is home to many fine beaches including Rhosneigr, Trearddur Bay and Red Wharf Bay. The National Trust mansion Plas Newydd is on the island, while on the mainland further National Trust properties can be found including Penrhyn Castle and Bodnant Gardens. The spectacular mountains and lakes of Snowdonia are just a short drive way, with plenty of castles, beaches and other attractions on offer in this wonderful region. The Menai Straits really does offer the best of both worlds!
