Lovely walks on the doorstep, beaches and some wildlife just out of the door. This lovely house was clean, warm and comfortable. We knew there wasn't an open fire but that would have made it even more perfect than it is. We will go back there as soon as we can.

  • "Had a wonderful stay at Min Y Mor."

The photos on the listing didn’t do the house justice! A couple more photos would have been useful to show the outdoor space for the purposes of showing how secure it was for our dog. Our dog jumped the wall at the front with ease but as there was no traffic or people around it wasn’t a problem for us. The views of the straits and mountains are stunning. What an amazing view to wake up to! We loved the history of the cottage and the information provided about Sir Kyfinn Williams. Would love to stay here again. A perfectly located base for exploring Anglesey and North Wales.

  • "The house was not as clean as we’re used to for these sorts of homes - Quite a few cobwebs and spiders in the home, bannister and some areas were sticky to touch."

I’d say it needs a good seasonal spring clean just to bring it up to snuff. The natural stone wall was shedding material all the time… at one point a piece of stone fired across the room onto the dining table which was a little disconcerting. If this were my home I’d have that wall checked and sealed somehow (without losing the charm of course). Anyway those points were far outweighed by the amazing time we had at your property. It’s a fantastic, peaceful spot with great access to Anglesey and north wales. The house was well equipped and perfect for our family of 6 (Five adults and 1 teen) plus dog. Thank You!

  • "Chosen specifically because the cottage is almost next to our old home."

Terrific views across the Menai Straits, glorious location and lots of character. We all enjoyed ourselves and made the most of our surroundings, with the grandchildren. Walk outside the front door and you can explore in three different directions - so long as you have a sturdy pair of shoes. If you are staying on Anglesey it would be hard to find a better place! There is the added bonus of living in the home that so inspired one of Wales’ most celebrated artists.

  • "When we arrived we had an issue no issue with house totally a fault of our own which caused us to call the housekeeper she was very friendly and dealt with our issue wonderfully and for that I was very thankful, although she did say she still had to pop down to the property with some welsh cakes and some Prosecco for us."

Which wouldve been wonderful had it happened. She never did come to the Property and we never did receive them they wouldve been a lovely touch and very welcome. For the price we pay I would’ve expected a courtesy pint of milk tea coffee after travelling 4 hours We were all ready for a cuppa and had to go straight out to buy essentials. Other than that the property is wonderful a beautiful quaint cottage in a fabulous location and despite lack of basic essentials as I said it is well equipped with everything we needed for the weeks stay. I havent said it deserved five stars for comfort as the sofas are well past their best having 6 people in the property meant someone had to sit in the middle of the three seater sofa which all you can feel is a very uncomfortable wooden slat not at all comfortable to also the arms of the sofas and chair are so worn down again all you can feel is wood. Despite reviews saying it is cold we didnt find this the two heaters downstairs are perfectly acceptable and throw enough heat out of you are feeling chilly and the heating upstairs was perfect. Also one thing to add is we have an electric vehicle so a charge point wouldve been a great addition especially with the push for more EVs its something that could be a welcome addition. The cottage information book is in need of an update there was no information as to what to do with our bedding towels etc it would make it easier I am sure for the housekeeper if this information was available. one of our members had a nasty fall on the stairs at the end of the stay onto the slate floors and has ended up in the local hospital and is still there So the local hospital is great and worth a mention too.

It’s a place for rest and relaxation. As the former home of the artist Kyffin Williams there is a good homage to him. Maybe one big impressive print of the mountains by him would be lovely. Overall a lovely place to stay.

  • "Very Tired Property - Beautiful Location Fantastic location with amazing views shame the property inside didn't live up to expectations."

If i had read the summer reviews we probably wouldn't have booked (booked 12 months before). Heating sporadic and usually on in middle of the night or when out in the day. No access to timer or settings as in locked garage. Thankfully there are electric fires in the kitchen and lounge. No hot water the entire week. Dispite contact with caretaker and being advised Menai Holidays (now owned by Sykes who we booked with) had been made aware. Didn't use enclosed yard as dog poo not been picked up from previous stay. Many electric items need looking at as not working correctly ie fan oven, expelair, lamps. Could be a very special property if time spent to deep clean and ensure things work. Welcome pack 2 salt sachets, coffee & sugar sachets. Don't forget your tea bags and milk. Didn't leave a review in book - but thats another story !!!

  • "The location was lovely, couldn't fault it."

The cottage was nice but could have been cleaner, although it wasn't bad it just lacked attention to detail, e.g. there were places that were dusty and there were cobwebs; some of the towels were tatty and some had a bad smell like they had been left wet in the washing machine for a long time and we had to wash them again before we could use them. We felt that the house would have been greatly improved by a shower over the bath upstairs, there was a lovely big upstairs bathroom but we were all having to use the tiny downstairs one because that was the only shower. There was nowhere to put your clothes and barely any space to dry and dress in there. The cupboards were well stocked with crockery, glasses, utensils etc. - which was great. We were left some Welsh cakes but after a 6 hour journey tea, coffee and milk to go with it would have been greatly appreciated! Most cottages do leave at least these basics for guests.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Min Y Mor, but do apologise that you found some aspects to an unsatisfactory standard on this occasion. A welcome pack of Welsh Cakes, Welsh tea, coffee, sugar and milk is normally provided at the property. We endeavour to maintain customer satisfaction at the forefront, had you have called us on arrival we could have rectified these issues immediately. We will bear your suggestions in mind regarding an extra shower in the larger bathroom for guests' comfort. Thank you for your feedback, it is always appreciated and enables us to establish areas which can be improved upon in the future. Property Owner

  • "While the location and the characterful cottage was great, the poor level of cleanliness affected the view of our stay."

We had to wash all of the crockery and cutlery because there was dried on food (in the cutlery drawer pesto was on most of the items). The couches in the sitting room are very stained and the arms were damp. The rug had a strong smell of dog, the kitchen floor was covered in bits and was grubby, there was debris under the beds. If clenliness is not important to you then no worries.

The beds and bedding really comfortable. Could do with wardrobes for hanging space as not one bedroom had one. With a bit of tlc and attention it could be a lovely cottage. Lock didn’t work in upstairs bathroom. Also there were a lot of cobwebs and dust, felt like it needs a good deep clean. A good location though can get to lots of places within half hour. You do need a car when staying here as nowhere is walkable. I would also recommend booking places to eat before you arrive as everywhere is busy. We struggled to get in places to eat.

  • "As we are vegans we try not to use stuff made from animal products, so found only 1 synthetic filled pillow."

It would be nice to have some choice in this department. If my late husband would have been with us he would have found the downstairs toilet difficult to use because of the size of it, he had suffered from a stroke and could not use his left hand and arm and the closeness of the facilities in the shower /toilet would have been too tight for him to manage. However when we booked the cottage it was not described as suitable for disabled so this is not a complaint. We just saw that it had a downstairs shower room and toilet, and my husband could get up and downstairs to bed, so we often booked hols with a downstairs toilet and shower. My husband died suddenly 5 days before we were due to come to the cottage and the owner was very kind in offering us the opportunity to change the booking to this year without us losing any money. We really appreciated her kindness and the support of Menai Hols staff at a very difficult time for us. The cottage and the setting are so beautiful and peaceful, my daughter and I had a lovely holiday there. The location is so handy for getting to other parts of Anglesey, but the setting is so wonderful that we wished we had more time there to just stay by the water and watch the wildlife. The amenities are great in the cottage, we loved it.

The property

We just love Min y Mor holiday house.

Located on the south east corner of Anglesey, with the waters of the Menai Strait lapping in front of you, and the mountains of Snowdonia forming an impressive backdrop, this is a magical setting.

The house is quirky and contemporary, with a calm atmosphere. The bright and welcoming kitchen/dining room is furnished with a farmhouse table which will seat up to 12.

The kitchen is equipped with a range cooker (gas hob and electric oven) and a fridge. The utility room houses an American larder fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, a sink and extra cupboard space. Offering the most wonderful views, the sitting room is furnished with rugs on the slate floors, comfy sofas and chairs, and an electric wood burning effect stove.

Features include an iPod dock, CD player, TV with DVD player and BT Vision Broadband. Upstairs are four gorgeous bedrooms, the landing is on differing levels which might affect those with mobility issues.

We love the landing, as it has a great feeling of light and space.

You can sit in the window seat and watch the water race past down to the open sea.

The first room has a king size bed and a small TV, and the second has a double bed. A further two rooms have two single day beds which convert to double or twin beds, though it will be a little bit of a squeeze!

Paintings adorn the walls, adding to the charm of this lovely little house. The bathroom has a bath, loo, wash basin and towel rail.

There's also a downstairs shower room with loo and wash hand basin. With its painted wooden door, the pretty courtyard is a delight - ideal for al fresco meals.

You could be anywhere in the world! As with many of our rural properties, access is down a track, which can be rough in places. This Grade II Listed cottage was the home of the artist Sir Kyffin Williams, whose studio was beside the house.

Now completely refurbished by its new incumbent artist, Sophie Keir, it is a peaceful and relaxing sanctuary. Enjoy sitting and watching the boats and the birds pass by.

At night there is little light pollution so you can see the moon rising from behind the mountains.

This is a truly idyllic spot. The beds will be made made up as advertised, if you would like a different bed configuration please contact Menai Holidays 7 days before your arrival.

About the location

LLANFAIRPWLL

Menai Bridge 2 miles, Beaumaris 6 miles

Affectionately known by the locals as Llanfair PG, the Anglesey village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrnd robwllllantysiliogogogoch, also known by its shortened name of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll has the longest place name in Europe. It was artificially named back in 1860 as a publicity stunt for the railway station and translates from Welsh as "St Mary's church in the hollow of the white hazel near to the fierce whirlpool and the church of St Tysilio of the red cave". Situated close to the Menai Straits, just off the Britannia Bridge, Llanfair PG has much to offer families. After having your photo taken next to the village nameplate at the railway station, head into the popular visitors centre for local tourist information. A short walk past the octagonal Toll House, towards Menai Bridge, will bring you to the Marquis of Anglesey statue and column which, for a small fee, you can climb the 115 steps to the top for superb views of the countryside and coastline. Nelson’s Monument can be easily reached on the banks of the Menai Straits, passing St Mary’s Church on the way. With several good pubs with restaurants, craft and gift shops and cafes, plus the beautiful Anglesey coastline within walking distance, there is plenty to entertain you all year round.

Note: As with many of our rural properties, access is down a track, which can be rough in places.
Note: one dog per party is free of charge, £20 for an additional
