  • "There were a lot of lovely things about the property."

Unfortunately the garden bedroom was unacceptable. It was damp, smelled of damp and the bedding was wet all holiday. It was upsetting as we had booked this property because we needed that many bedrooms. To have 2 of our party sleep in that room really ruined things. There was also an issue of ants in the main building. We had 2 small children crawling around and had to worry about the ants and if there was any powder somewhere unknown, since there was ant powder under the sink. It's a shame because the rest of the property was very lovely and to high standard. We would not consider staying there again because of these faults.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Ty'n Lon. We were, however, concerned that you reported the garden bedroom was damp. Following your holiday, we stayed in that bedroom ourselves in order to investigate and couldn't find any signs of damp. We will continue to monitor this, although we are confident that this may have been a result of the weather conditions at the time. Regarding the ants, the property is in a rural location, therefore, insects can visit from time to time. Once again, thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "We booked the cottage in 2019, for Christmas 2020, but due to the pandemic were easily able to postpone our trip to Christmas 2021."

Prior to Christmas, Sarah the property owner contacted us and asked if we had any questions about the cottage as well as offering her number so that we could contact her during our stay, should the need arise. On arrival at the cottage, there was plenty of parking and directions were very accurate. The key was left in a secure location and Sarah had said that we could check in earlier than the stated time of 5pm quoted on the website. When entering the cottage, which is lovely and quirky with low ceilings and traditional features, it was clean and immaculately finished. The kitchen is really well stocked and was not a squeeze at all with lots of us in there prepping Christmas dinner! All the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable (really lovely bedding) and the lounge and dining area both had plenty of seating for 8 of us. The garden was lovely and secure for my dogs to run around in. The games room was a bit cold so we didn’t really use it. Sarah did say that if we had any problems or felt anything was missing or needed repairing to let her know, to allow her to rectify any issues, I mentioned that a de-humidifier would be beneficial in the main bedroom upstairs and also the radiator may need bleeding. We had to buy logs etc for the wood burner but this was not a major problem, I just mentioned that this should be added to the Sykes listing. Overall, we had a lovely stay at T’yn Lon, it’s in a fantastic spot, it’s clean and comfortable and despite there being 8 of us, we weren’t on top of each other. Would I go back? Absolutely! Would I recommend? 100%

  • "Whilst the cottage is set in a beautiful place the cleanliness is very poor especially in the bathrooms and the garden room/bedroom was so disappointing."

It was very very damp. There was a dehumidifier completely full of water and the place smelt like an old garden shed. The dehumidifier was running full time and pulling off over two Litres a day. We did not complain during the holiday as we were have a family reunion with members of our family flying in from USA. We have approached Sykes and the owner since returning home but to no avail. Sykes are disappointing too to advertise this property as one of their better properties. They obviously do not do regular inspections. I have photographs to prove my points.

Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay at Ty'n Lon. Earlier in the year we discovered the shower tray in the new en-suite bathroom had been fitted incorrectly causing a leak and ultimately leading to damp. This has since been fixed and the dehumidifier was left in the room to help dry the area. We understand that Sykes Cottages has spoken to you since this review and your complaint has been resolved. We do ask for all guests to make us aware of any issues during their stay as we do not wish any guests to be disappointed with their holidays at Ty'n Lon. Property Owner

  • "Ty'n Lon is a fantastic character cottage and was perfect for our family."

The house is lovely and positives include the brilliantly equipped kitchen, the cosy lounge with woodburner and great sofas, the spacious conservatory with big dinning table and the super comfy beds. The kids loved all the board games and the pool table etc in the garage. The garden is charming with lots of outdoor seating and interesting plants. It was secure for our dog and the kids loved seeing horses in the field below. It is also in a really good location and there is a lovely walk to the beach straight from the property. The owners were great with communication during the stay and I would highly recommend the property to others.

  • "The property although lovely was very damp."

We had family members having to sleep in their car and on sofas. Owner of the property never got back to messages sent. Also was definitely not cleaned to covid 19 standard. We cleaned a lot of it ourselves when we got into the property.

Thank you for your feedback. We do take feedback very seriously and find your comments completely out of character for our property. There was a damp issued that was dealt with two years ago as soon as we became aware of it, this was only in the out building (Summerhouse) No contact was made to Sykes Cottages or ourselves and cannot understand why you have stated you are sleeping in the car and not informed anybody. I am amazed and astonished to hear this. Kind regards. Property Owner

Nice location only a fairly short walk through fields to a fantastic dog friendly beach. Enjoyed dining as a family in the conservatory and outside on a couple of sunny days! Had a nice bbq and fully equipped kitchen was ideal. Thank you for a lovely stay, hope to return soon!

The facilities offered at the cottage were excellent and included a nicely kept, good sized garden that was ideal for the children and offering a lovely place to sit after a hectic day at the local beach. The property was clean and very well equipped, especially the kitchen. We all had a wonderful time and would certainly considered booking Ty'n Lon again.

The annex where we slept was not clean there were cobwebs and dead spiders all over the walls in bathroom attached to it the rest of the house was reasonable however it looked like they cleaned the floors with the same mop after each resident so don’t know how this fits in with COVID-19 sorry to say this we have always been mostly satisfied with previous cottages and we have used Sykes for several years now as you will know

  • "We enjoyed our break very much."

The property was well equipped (although I'd suggest an additional cutlery set be added, 7 people and 10 pieces of cutlery often meant washing up mid meal!!!) and well laid out. We were comfortable and enjoyed the beautiful garden. Fantastic location with stunning walks and beaches on the doorstep. I would just have to echo previous feedback that the property really would benefit from a good clean through. Beds, kitchen and bathrooms were clean but all other all other areas require attention.

Luckily he was able to cancel the skip and thankfully we saw him otherwise we would of had no parking. Communication needs improving. We had to clean garden bedroom as really quite dirty. Floor and windows were filthy. Rubbish from previous week littered the drive but I was in contact with owner who was great but understand limited services currently. In our new normal times maybe file needs updating. The house is amazing and we had a great holiday.

  • "1. Could not find the light switch for the conservatory/dining room lights."

Phoned property manager but manager unsure where switch was. Managed to get the 'dim' ceiling fan light on but had to move the decorative 'light tree' into the conservatory for additional light and also a table lamp. Also had to light candles. 2. Could not get heating to work although followed instructions in Welcome Folder. Eventually noticed that the wall plug for the 'Nest' dial (hallway) and router (living room window) were both halfway out of the wall (perhaps cleaners had knocked the plugs?). As soon as these were plugged in correctly, the Nest/heating system started to work. 3. We got the heating to work but 2x radiators would not heat up. After a couple of days, hunted for a radiator key and had to bleed 2x radiators! 4. Initially the property 'looked' clean but upon closer inspection, could have done with using an old toothbrush (or something) to get between the shower concertina doors. Skirting boards had dust on them and we had to degrease some cooking trays before could use. 5. Because the heating was minimal in living room (before getting the idea to bleed the radiator's) we kept warm by using some of the fleece blankets that were in a basket near to the fire, to cover ourselves with on the settee. The light was dim and the blankets were folded each night and put back into the basket. However, it was only on the last morning (when we needed to fold the blankets after use on the previous night) that we saw dog hairs on the blankets! We then realised the blankets must be dog blankets for use on the settee's if people use the property and have dogs! OMG! The blankets should have been cleaned anyway but also, the basket needs a notice on it to say 'dog blankets'. 6. There was a dehumidifier in the annexe that we had to empty upon arrival as it was full of water. 7. Appreciate we are still in the winter months but the garden was a little unkempt and could have done with a tidy. 8. In general, we personally felt that although the cottage was a good size, it needed a deep clean, but then maybe our standards are higher than others?

The living room was spacious and comfortable and the mixture of bedrooms were perfect. The garden is multilevelled which may cause problems for some but there are safe walkways throughout. The dogs didn't stray and the garden was sufficiently fenced to contain the majority of animal. All in all this was a terrific house which presented good value for money. Fantastic heating system throughout the house. We would book again.

Moss and leaves etc. Certain parts of the property need attention, especially deep cleaning. Lovely location, could be exceptional garden with more attention. • "The property was damp and tired and in need of TLC, we were left with a fridge that didnt work properly and had to wedge it shut with some card."

The drive way requires access for the property next door, which wasnt mentioned, meaning we couldn't shut the gates to secure our dogs from the busy main rd (this also wasnt mentioned) so many failings the property needs a re-write and a refurb. Sykes failed to act promptly when reporting the situation and we have yet to hear from you with regards our complaint.

  • "The cottage is very well equipped, spacious and in a good location."

However was let down by some areas not being cleaned very well which was disappointing as we had to do it ourselves when we got there. The garden was also a tad overgrown and could have done with a good sweeping of the patio areas. Again this was disappointing as it ruined the enjoyment of sitting in the lovely garden. More attention is needed by whoever is managing this property. The property is very old, small areas of damp can be seen in certain areas , however the overall appearance and deco inside is lovely. The owners have thought of everything you might possibly need on a holiday. We enjoyed the games in the garage , but the Pool/ ice hockey table is on its last legs and being propped up by a chair. The location is great and We walked to the beach on a number of occasions. Overall we had a good time in this cottage, we don’t let little things dampen our spirits.

Thank you for your feedback. I arrived at the cottage the day that you left and contacted the maintenance company immediately as the standard of cleanliness was not what we usually expect. A cleaner had been trained up and left to her own devices for three weeks which resulted in a huge drop in standards, The team leader has now taken over doing our cleans until further notice. The gardener is at the property every Friday for six hours After an incredibly wet sunny summer it was getting rather wild out there so we've done a couple of extra days to get back on track. The ice hockey pool table is repaired and the maintenance team have also addressed those damp spots.I am staying there again this weekend so will make sure that its of the highest standard for our October & November guests Property Owner

  • "The cottage was dirty."

Had to get the vac out on arrival. Hot water not working correctly. Would only work with the heating running. Reported this to management company. Phoned them and left a message on their answer phone. They text me back. Straight away you know you are onto a loser when they want to communicate via text not phone to sort a problem. Anyway basically the problem never got sorted and we stopped contacting them after a couple of days. They never got back to us so it’s still not sorted. Tiles are loose and broken in the hall. Which I see was mentioned on trip advisor back in October. Overall the place is nice. Just let down by the cleaning and things not getting sorted. This is the first time I have had to give a bad review on any cottage.

The garden is well kept with handrails on low level steps Plenty of outside space for children and dogs to play in a safe environment..The BBQ was clean and ready for us to light with fuel ect provided.Nothing seemed to have been overlooked or too much trouble. It was our first visit to Anglesey .There are beaches within a five minute drive which are family and dog friendly, family theme park about half an hour away and pretty Beaumaris about 20 minutes drive away.Had a wonderful holiday and hope to return soon. p.s.A floor plan of the property would have helped us with our booking and pictures of all external annex.
