  • "We had 3 lovely nights at this property whilst visiting family who lived in the village."

The house has everything you would need, a very well equipped kitchen and dining area. The lounge was beautiful and cosy and the bedrooms were all a good size. My only criticism would be that the beds were very soft and possibly a bit too bouncy which meant we didn't sleep very well but that is probably personal preference. We would definitely recommend and return. Thank you.

  • "A very comfortable and well equipped cottage ."

The only slight issue we encountered was that the sofas are very low and my elderly mother had to sit on a number of cushions (of which there were plenty), otherwise all great. The location of the cottage was great for accessing the beautiful north angelsey coast - we had a wonderful week.

The property is so well equipped with everything you could think of and more! It was extremely clean we didn't feel we had to wipe down surfaces before we started and had so many personal touches to make it a relaxing break. The outside space is generous with lots of places to sit and relax and the front had space for the children to play safely. We found it a perfect place to explore and would definitely stay again. Richard (the owner) text to check everything was okay and was there if we had any questions which was really thoughtful.

Amazingly well equipped kitchen, comfortable living room with log burner (which we used when staying out of the rain on a few occasions) and brilliant enclosed garden with furniture which we enjoyed on the one sunny day! The village has a beautiful church, friendly community cafe and good shop. Camaes Bay was only a few minutes in the car for beach walks, fish and chips and pubs. House was spotless with great parking, ideal for 2 families. If only the Welsh weather was as accommodating!

  • "A fabulous property."

Was even better than advertised. The house and grounds were as pictured, but there was so much more to this property than the pictures could convey. The house was extremely well kitted out, you could've easily spent your whole time there if you wanted/in the event of bad weather. From a huge range of cooking and even baking equipment, including a huge slow cooker; blender; cake stands etc to a massive fridge/freezer; every utensil, pot & pan and glasswear you could possibly think of. Plus books, board games, maps of the area, walking sticks and a big umbrella, cushions for the garden furniture, comfy bedding and fluffy towels and 4 TVs. There is nothing that has not been thought of by the owners. The property is in a quiet location but still ideally placed for days out sightseeing or a trip to the beach on my favourite Island. If I had a tiny niggle or two it would be that (1) the bed set up in the family room wasnt as we requested/advertised - advert stated the family room could be set up as twin beds on request, so whilst I would have assumed king size would be the default option, I did email Sykes specifically requesting king sized option in all 3 rooms due to 3 different families visiting, but the family room was set up with twin beds! Unsure if the message got through to the owner, but we managed anyway as 2 of the party were only there for a weekend (2) The sofas were that comfortable, we couldn't get out of them!!! This was only a real problem for the 82 year old in the party, due to the sofas being so low and deep cushioned, but the addition of the extra upright chairs covered this position off perfectly. Lots of storage, plus the additional touches of fabulous pictures, including some painted by the owners relative, flowers, ornaments etc made it feel homely. My grown up son said he would happily live there!! I loved it so much that I'm already thinking of re-booking for 2024.

Good space for the six adults in our party, very well equipped kitchen which was great because we love cooking on holiday. Amazing property and more than enough space for 6 adults and a dog. House is well equipped for in-house dinning - plenty of pans, utensils and other kitchen pots etc. Beds extremely comfortable with lovely crisp linen - a huge thing for me. Garden furniture was comfortable and good quality and the automatic lights allowed us to play games on the table after dark. The house is set back off the road so didn't hear any traffic. Communication with the owner was simple and straightforward. Self check-in and check-out seamless. The only thing I would say is about pipework and water flow. With it being an old property the pipes make a lot of noise when water is on so be prepared for that in the evening. The water flow in the shower wasn't great. That being said we couldn't have loved it any more than we did. Would recommend this property to anyone who is having a gathering with family or friends and we will definitely consider it again in the future. Already planning our return.

The property was really nice (but toilets not great for flushing) and the enclosed garden was great for the dogs and set up well for eating outdoors. The only downside was that the property was not detached as we thought and we experienced a lot of noise in the evening from the people renting Riverside Cottage whose living room was below the bedroom with an en-suite.

Local pub has the "unique " method of charging for drinks, told one price, but never given the correct change back, nothing to do with the cottage owner but maybe something to let other users know.

  • "First your office is a model of professionalism and courtesy thank you."

The house was like the Curate’s egg, parts of it were excellent but that didn’t conceal the fact that it was a bad egg. It was cold, draughty and very noisy from the house next door. The big, slippery slate step at the front door needed a rail (and an indication that the house was not suitable, as it is, for anyone with the most minimal mobility problems.) There we’re no shaving points or loo roll holders in the bath rooms, and two of the three hand basins had no mirror over them. The kitchen appeared designed and furnished by someone who did not cook. It could be totally lovely.

I am sorry to read you felt my property is a 'bad egg'. I would like to assure you and others reading this that it recently benefitted from a complete makeover including a new boiler, and it also has a wood burner fire in the living room. If you were cold then I can only think you didn't have the heating set to a high enough temperature. There is no restriction as to what you can set the heating at. The step at the front door is clearly visible from the photos on this web site. We do advise Guests that if they do have any mobility issues to please to contact ahead of booking. There is and always has been a shaver socket in the main bathroom. There are mirrors above the Wc's in both bathrooms and the downstairs WC, and always have been, I have now added mirrors above basins too. The kitchen is an excellent design and was installed recently, to include a range cooker, large fridge freezer, all new cooking equipment and crockery for which we have received lovely comments in that it lacks nothing. Most guests feel it is totally lovely. Property Owner

The small garden is delightful with a beautiful stone wall which is lit at night, as well as a cosy corner sofa seating which was lovely to just sit and read outside. There is ample parking and we parked 3 cars easily. The kitchen, furniture and bedding were all good quality and very comfortable. The rooms had a very cosy ambience with lovely lamps in every corner. Location wise, we were very close to gorgeous beaches, bays and restaurants and it was nice to stay at the far end of Anglesey which we hadn’t visited before. The housekeeper was extremely friendly and apologetic when lol she popped by with towels as we hadn’t been left enough. This was quickly sorted after a phone call and we found the owner really friendly and responsive. The property would be improved if there were blackout curtains in the bedrooms, there are blinds as well as curtains but rooms weren’t dark enough in the early mornings. Some beach or garden toys for the children would be nice and smaller chairs for the outdoors table would be good, as the 6 existing chairs were very big and didn’t seat 8 so we couldn’t eat outdoors all together. This property was a really good size and ideal for our family of 8 people.

About the location

LLANFECHELL

Cemaes Bay 1.5 miles; Holyhead 15 miles.

Llanfechell is a small village situated one and a half miles from Cemaes Bay, on the northern tip of Anglesey in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village gets its name from the nearby 12th century Mechell Church, which has been extended over the years and where it is believed that St Mechell is buried. The ancient Parys mountain copper mines are seven miles away, with their lunar-like landscape and the area is popular with geologists and archaeologists due to the rock formations at Mechell Mountain and the several ancient monuments scattered around, reputed to be some of the oldest in the world. Llanfechell is home to a village pub, which serves traditional ale with a warm welcome. Nearby, the pretty seaside village of Cemaes Bay is home to three pubs, a few shops, a natural sheltered harbour and a sandy beach, edged by grassy cliffs and ideal for safe bathing and family fun. The whole of the Isle of Anglesey is renowned for its miles of stunning and varied coastline, offering wonderful walking and cycling opportunities, along with birdwatching, excellent watersports, fishing and many quality golf courses. Anglesey Sea Zoo and a variety of National Trust properties and gardens are all within reach on this beautiful island, while a day trip to Dublin can be enjoyed from nearby Holyhead.
