  • "Thanks Fiona for been very helpful from the start."

We had a great stay. My friend and myself have been coming over to Anglesey for the past couple of years, just as a few days away and to beat the winter blues and also so my dog gets a little holiday too with lots of great walks. We loved the location of this property and really enjoyed our stay and we had the added bonus of the hot tub, although we only managed to use once due to us being out a lot. We will definitely be returning and are already looking at next year! Thanks again Fiona and family! Lisa, Lisa and Bailey

  • "This was our second visit and certainly won't be our last!"

Love how cosy the cottage is. The beds are very comfortable and the bedding is beautiful too, crisp cotton, always a win for me! The Hot Tub is kept spotlessly clean, the best we've had for the last 10 years. The area is quiet with stunning scenery just at the end of the road. Well equipped kitchen, dishwasher and a Tassimo machine for that morning coffee was a lovely touch too. It is looking a little tired in places but for me that just added to the charm. Looking forward to returning soon.

  • "We had a wonderful time at the cottage and a lovely surprise treat for my mums birthday."

When we arrived at least we could have a drink with the milk that the owners left and a bottle of wine. It had a warm and cosy log fire. Most comfy beds in any of the sykes cottages we've stayed. Fabulous hot tub to chill in that wasn't over looked. A quiet retreat. Ideal to explore the rest of Anglesey from. Would look at returning another time.

  • "The cottage was beautiful and located in a small village with a shop."

The interior was a mix of authentic cottage with a lovely lounge with wood burner that we didn't use, another reception room with good size dining table and modern well equipped kitchen. Both bedrooms had a high standard of decor, with incredibly comfortable beds and plenty of storage. The garden was secluded with a back access gate and the hot tub was very much appreciated as were the very fluffy towels provided. There was plenty of road parking. We would definitely rebook this cottage for future time spent exploring North Wales.

The cottage is situated just a short drive from a beautiful beach. There’s a handy little shop at the top of the road too. There was everything we could need for a homely stay and the owners were very responsive and helpful. The hot tub was a lovely added luxury for us in the evenings. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed anywhere where all the neighbours and people in the shops and restaurants nearby have been quite so friendly! Would definitely recommend :)

It was extremely comfortable, especially the bed in the master bedroom. It was cosy and had pretty much everything that you need for a stay. There were one or two very minor issues where there was slight damage but nothing problematic (a cupboard door handle was broken for instance). The owner had forgotten we were arriving that day but the cottage was ready and clean and someone very quickly came to welcome us and set up the hot tub. Absolutely wonderful stay.

  • "Lovely looking cottage with lots of home comforts."

However it is very small abd the additional home comforts make it very difficult to navigate when you have two small children and a dog in a crate to keep in the house with you. There was no room to easily sit at the dining room table with out physically moving the sofa, the dog crate didn't fit anywhere other than the kitchen which was so icy cold I couldn't leave her in there. There appears to be no heating in there or in the hallways which meant sleeping in a cot on the floor was also a no go because the house was so cold (it was a very cold week in December but we had to shuffle around who slept in what bed and I ended up with baby in the double with me because it was otherwise too draughty and cold). Hot tub was lovely though and furniture comfortable, just so much of it in such a small space. Would also be useful to have a booklet explaining how to use the heating, where the local shops are l, how to access the rear parking etc because that wasn't that easy especially in the dark.

Very friendly and helpful owner who kindly posted a pair of glasses back to us. She also made a lovely fire for our arrival. The hot tub was very nice and warm. Clean on the whole but ready for a deep clean we thought (corners, visible bed slats were quite dusty). Main issue was the property was cold and quite damp. There was black mould in the bedroom cupboard and we didn't empty our bags for this reason. Shower temperature was very temperamental. The idyllic cottage really catered for everyone in our family. The separate lounges are a godsend, allowing the kids to be kids and the adults some much needed recharge after a glorious day. The kitchen was equipped with every item needed to ensure our self catering holiday was as smooth sailing as cooking at home. The bedrooms are what you'd hope them to be, lovely and quiet, perfect for a good night's sleep - the beds are extremely comfortable! The garden was secluded from the neighbours, and the area itself is so quiet and calm, it was a joy to be outside. The corner shop at the end of the road was handy to have, rather than a trip to the supermarket. Of which there are 3 supermarkets within 10mins drive. The location of Bwythn Megan could not be more ideal. With the beach and forest a 10min drive away, the car museum just down the road, the sea life zoo around the corner... Amazing. We found that where ever we drove from this little slice of heaven was surrounded by breathtaking views. • "The owners were extremely helpful, making sure someone was there to greet us and show us round."

They also provided a nice welcome pack of treats and checked we were ok via text during our stay. They even set the log burner up so that it was ready to be lit in case we were cold. The property is extremely well equipped - Dishwasher and washing machine with nice touches such as a teapot and slow cooker. Having two TVs was also great. The rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished and everywhere was spotless. The hot tub was a fantastic added bonus and well serviced and obviously kept extremely clean and hygienic. There are lovely views from the front of the cottage and the post office/shop at the end of the lane just two minutes walk is another great asset too. Thank you for a lovely holiday!

The cottage is lovely, comfortable, and very quaint the owner “ Fiona and family “are on hand if you need anything or just advice would definitely recommend and would go back (maybe when the weather is a little colder so we could make use of the loge burner fire in the lounge)

  • "The cottage is in a quiet setting with just a corner shop/post office within walking distance."

Cows in the front, horses at the back. It's an ideal base for exploring the beautiful island of Anglesey. We went for a week of reliving childhood memories, exploring with our dog and catching up with relatives on the island. The owners were exceptionally welcoming friendly and helpful. The cottage has everything you need and was very homely with the fab hot tub as a luxury extra. Newborough beach and forest were our favourite only 10 mins away by car. I would recommend an Asda/Tesco delivery on the day of arrival if you intend to eat in mostly and make pack lunches for when out plus it saves space whole travelling and comes from the local store on the island. We will be back and we would stay in the cottage again. Truely enjoyable, relaxing week blessed with blue sunny skies.

Contact with Fiona beforehand with lots of tips and met on arrival by Peter and Lucy. Lovely, friendly family, nothing too much trouble. Ideal location for anywhere on island. Would highly recommend and even return.

  • "Everything was fantastic especially the personal touch by the owners like lighting the log fire on arrival and being available in case we had problems or questions."

It was basically home from home but with a hot tub. My only criticism is that new pans are needed and I would encourage the owners to get some stainless steel ones as non stick and ceramic coated ones don’t get the care they require. The cottage is in a great location for getting around by car. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The cottage came with so many little extras like a welcoming hamper full of goodies, his & her dressing gowns. Anglesey is a beautiful place to visit & the the cottage location is close to north wales so plenty of places to visit, Anglesey has some beautiful beaches . • "Fiona, the owner of the cottage went out of her way to ensure we had a relaxing holiday - as much as you can with an 18 month old."

We were greeted warmly and with a lovely basket of goodies to get the holiday started. The cottage itself is cosy, beautifully furnished, ideal for a small family, particularly the enclosed garden. The added bonus to the garden is the hot tub, perfect for unwinding after a busy day. The location is great for exploring Anglesey, only a couple of miles from the beautiful beach of Newborough and easily accessible for the Menai Bridge and Beaumaris. There is plenty for children too, Foel farm is a great day and Greenwood forest Park. We would most definitely return.

However, this was not necessary as they had thought of everything when equipping the holiday cottage. Extras included a lovely a lovely little welcome hamper and also provided were some basic foodstuffs. Lovely thick fluffy towels provided. etc etc. Spotlessly clean accommodation and a great homely base for your holiday = but would not recommend for anyone with mobility problems due to the steep narrow staircase.

About the location

LLANGAFFO

Newborough 2 miles; Gaerwen 4 miles.

Llangaffo is a small village situated between Gaerwen and Newborough on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. The village has views of the Menai Straits and the mountains of Snowdonia, and contains a local store and post office. It is also home to St Caffo’s Church which dates back to 1846 and was named after a 6th century saint who was killed nearby. Just two miles away is the village of Newborough which lies on the edge of forests and dunes, and is home to a population of red squirrels, one of only two colonies on Anglesey. Close by is Llanddwyn Bay, renowned as one of the finest beaches in Britain, ideal for swimming, canoeing, beachcombing and birdwatching or just relaxing! Behind the beach, the 1500 acre sand dune system of Newborough Warren is home to skylarks, meadow pipits and oyster catchers, as well as toads and lizards and is protected as a National Nature Reserve. The famous Anglesey Model Village, set in one acre of beautifully landscaped gardens, is within half a mile of the village centre and makes a fun day out for the whole family, and Anglesey Sea Zoo, Tacla Taid, the old vehicle museum and Foel Farm are nearby.
