  • "Lovely property, wonderful facilities for the children especially, very well equipped with comfortable beds."

The owner was easy to contact if we did have any issues, and very helpful. The conservatory was especially nice to sit in. Despite quite a lot of rain ( and Storm Betty!) we had some merry badminton games (with our own equipment) and my grandson was constantly out with his football. Martin -the owner -tells me they will be replacing the football goal at some point as it's been clearly well loved! The little scooters were a bonus, my 3 grandchildren were straight out on them. Oh, and don't take any toys or drawing equipment for the children, plenty there to keep them occupied. It was lovely to have the sheep in the next field and the young black cows ,we all loved those. We watched the swallows gathering the insects especially early evening, and as a bonus, they were all gathered on the telephone wires chattering as we left on our last morning. Absolutely beautiful countryside nearby and close to Snowdon, for walking or the little train. Zip world is a great place to go to too. Don't miss Plas Cadnant gardens on Anglesey, something for all there, beautiful. Yes, a lovely week with the property as a bonus.

Loved all the space. The children loved the garden. Conservatory was lovely and warm and bright. Thank you for the use of Buarthau cottage.. such a beautiful setting. Note to owners only.. Found the living room cold and dark, though not sure much can be done about that. Bedside lamps, especially in the downstairs double room would be a great improvement. Also a cafetiere would be a useful addition.

We were 4 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs and were able to utilise the whole cottage. it is beautifully located in the heart of Eryri and especially the Snowden Mountain Railway in Llanberis which is only 5 miles away. We were fortunate that the sun shone on the day we got to the peak of Yr Wyddfa and on our return enjoyed the food and conversation in the Glyntwrog Inn. The Piggery Pottery was fun and particularly for the children amongst us. We thoroughly recommend Buarthau Cottage which is really excellent and we would certainly return when next in North Wales. • "The property is perfect for things to do in North Wales."

The house was lovely but we booked it for downstairs bedrooms. The listing stated 2 steps to bunk room and play room whereas there were 2 steps up to the two downstairs bedrooms, one of the steps is a half step and wobbly so unsafe and dangerous for our disabled 80 year old parents. The listing needs amending please to stop other people booking for accessibility when it really isn't. The pans in the kitchen need replacing and old crusty food was in one of them, we could not get the oven, heating or the vacuum to work. The best room was the conservatory which was lovely to chill out in. Not sure what the policy is in Wales, but it would have been nice to have been able to sort our recycling out into separate bins. A plus would be to install an electric charge point, however for future visitors we highly recommend the Ryd-Y-Galen caravan park who let you use their charge point but pre load Project EV on the their app before you go to save stress. It sounds like we had a bad time, we absolutely didn't. North Wales is spectacular and the house was a great base, and the time we did contact the owners about the fridge, they were very helpful and we did appreciate the milk and chocolates on arrival, we also loved the sheep in the field, we would visit again, but without our parents.

  • "Cottage is in a great location for exploring all of Snowdonia/Anglesey."

It is very clean and seemed to have everything we needed. Very much appreciated the use of the paddock (adjacent to the cottage) to exercise our dog as the back garden has a 3 foot (unfenced) drop on to the patio area. Care should be taken when young children are playing out here, if they are kicking a ball about, it would be so easy to not realise the "drop" is there.. It's a shame there is no bathroom/WC upstairs - all three are on the ground floor - maybe the main family bathroom could do with a shower screen to avoid water going everywhere? The dining room conservatory was lovely, overlooking sheep in the rear paddock.

  • "Thank you for a lovely week in your wonderful property."

We felt that the flexibility of accommodation was great and the facilities for children and dogs were excellent. The property was clean and the beds were very comfortable. There is a sloping driveway down to a fast road but there are gates that can be closed to prevent kids and dogs running onto the road. For owners of athletic dogs (able to jump fences) be aware that there are sheep in an adjacent field. We really liked the sun room where we were all able to sit down to family meals, and the large lounge with curved TV was fabulous (we want one now!). The kitchen had plenty of space and there was a nice welcome pack with milk, bread and chocolates. Just a few points: We couldn't find a coffee press for filter coffee. Heating - easy instructions but a couple of the radiators didn't have thermostats so not able to turn them down and the hall and bathroom got very hot. Rubbish - we are used to recycling almost everything but there was no facility for this and we weren't sure if the company collecting rubbish did the recycling after collection. Suggest adding details of nearest recycling facilities to the handbook.

We were a family of 6 adults and one little dog. It was our first visit to Wales and what a wonderful stay it was. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and laid out very well. The facilities at the property exceeded our expectations and the welcome gift was a lovely touch. The rear garden was a great size and as we were very lucky to have nice weather for our entire stay, we made the use of the outdoor space and had a BBQ one of the evening’s. The rear garden was secure and enclosed so we could relax whilst our dog played outside. The sitting room with log burner was a lovely space to relax and unwind in after long days exploring the area. The location was great, only a few mins drive to Caernarfon where we enjoyed some nice meals out. The PDF that was sent via the owner prior to our visit was very useful and we followed the recommendations on there and were not disappointed. We all had a great time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for private and spacious accommodation for a family holiday. We will be back for another visit in the future.

The owners have obviously put a lot of time and effort into the property, log burner and games room for kids (giant Jenga for the grown up kids lol). They also provided a welcome pack, big box of chocolates, milk, good supply of tea and coffee and Welsh cakes. Dishwasher tablets and washing machine detergent was also provided. Martin was amazing and kind (this is important to me and I know would be for those in similar boat- I come from a minority group and host made us feel comfortable). Martin even accommodated my request to set up wood fire (I am a noob at that kind of stuff!). We are a family of 6 and found the cottage very spacious. Even had a chance to see sheeps in the neighbour's field. Location was perfect for us i.e. close to Snowdonia and not too far from Llandudno. We now have treasured memories. The cottage pictures are very accurate. The log burner even more beautiful in person. We were greeted with welcome cookies. The kitchen amenities were excellent (tea, coffee etc. even bread and milk!), Including crockery and cookware. The only thing I would suggest is updating the non stick pan/guests to bring own (only troublesome when frying an egg really, so not deal breaker!). To address a review from before yes- bathroom in ensuite isn't heated buut my advise to guest is to leave bathroom door open when not in use to balance temperature :). Hope this was helpful to future guests! Please don't hesitate, it was lovely stay for us (my little one in particular enjoyed play room!)

Also a couple more dinner plates would have been useful and extra cutlery for serving requirements. My husband and I are in our late 70's so we chose the downstairs bedroom with en-siute bathroom. There wasn't any heating in this lovely bathroom and it was freezing cold. So cold it was unbearable and unpleasant to use in the cold months. It never dried out unless the window was left open ( who wants that in an already freezing bathroom ? ) The toilet rolls were always damp and towels that were left in there overnight were damp an cold. The door into disabled bathroom didn't shut so therefor couldn't lock it. Apart from the master bedroom upstairs, there was a shortage of draws for clothes. The pillows on the beds were so thin they need replacing, two pillows together only made the thickness of one. There wasn't a mirror near a plug for hairdryer. The oven door didn't close unless it was slammed shut and we noticed that this had been mentioned last June in the visitor's book. Last of all, the description of the cottage isn't very clear that all bathrooms and toilets are downstairs. We wouldn't have booked this property if it had been made clear. These are all small niggles that are mentioned as constructive criticism can spoil a holiday and be put right quickly to make the guests holiday more enjoyable.

Hi Barbara Thanks for your constructive comments during your stay at Buarthau. Apologies for the late reply. My aim is to close these comments out as best as I can. As you can imagine all trades men are busy during these times. We have now installed a towel rail in the bathroom so the place is nice and warm during winter months. New pillows have bought. Issue with the cooker door has been solved . Thanks again for your stay Regards Martin / Gemma :) Property Owner

He managed it so didn't spoil anything for us, it's just for other holiday goers to be aware of. Kids loved it, it's near a very long beach which the dogs loved and everyone we went we were only ones there! Highly recommend it as it made a fab base for our group of 8, our holiday was also made special as my sister's boyfriend proposed while we were there, so you never know a rebook maybe on the cards for future celebrations!

The property had everything we needed and was in the perfect location - just a stones throw away from Llanberis and Caernarfon, and just a little further to Anglesey and Beddgelert. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the garden is situated in such a way that you get the sun pretty much all day, with a stunning view of the sunset and plenty of garden furniture to pick from. I thought the property was beautifully decorated, with a lovely big cool (temperature wise) living room, and a spacious kitchen. The garden is secure, which means the dog could just roam around as she pleased, which she really appreciated. The paddock was also perfect for the dog and big enough to throw a ball around. The property

Situated in the village of Llanrug which enjoys ease of access to both the Snowdonia National Park and the Isle of Anglesey, is Buarthau, a large detached holiday home set within its own two acres of grounds.

Ideal for arranging your annual family holiday here or a reunion with old friends, this property will be your home-from-home for the duration of your stay.

Throughout the property you can experience the original features such as wood parquet flooring, quarry tiled flooring, exposed beams and solid oak furniture, which add to its rustic charm and family-home feeling.

In the kitchen you can find a state-of-the-art electric range cooker, ideal for when you are cooking for a large party, with a utility room nearby containing other essential appliances for your ease.

Serve up dinner at the dining table in the conservatory-like room, with large windows overlooking the lush green gardens, while you enjoy the tasty food among great company.

A huge L-shaped sofa suite lies in the sitting room, ready for everyone to pile on and sit down for a classic film night, or if you want to find some peace, stop in the snug with a book and take a moment for yourself.

Welcoming the older members of the party with ground-floor living is the double bedroom, nearby to the bathroom with bath and shower over, and another bathroom with walk-in shower, basin and WC, so there is something to suit everyone.

Moving further in and up two steps, find the play room to play a game of table football with a bit of healthy competition, while the room down the hall would be perfect for the kids; a triple bunk room.

Heading up the stairs in this fine and large property you are presented with two more rooms; the master king-size benefiting from a vanity unit and a TV, and a twin room, with views overlooking the lovely gardens.

Outside you can enjoy the extensive grounds and let the kids and four-legged friends run around without a care in these well-kept enclosed spaces.

Enjoy some outdoor dining in the summer months with plenty of outdoor furniture to make use of, as long as the weather is on your side.

The village of Llanrug will provide you with all the essentials you need, including the choice of two pubs when it's time to enjoy a family meal out, but you'll be pleased to find much more choice in nearby towns of Caernarfon and Llanberis being just a few miles away.

For those wanting to explore on foot, there are planned routes beginning right from Llanrug, or you can take the car and drive out to the Snowdonia National Park to experience many different outdoor activities on offer, such as climbing, horse trekking, and cycling.

For the adrenaline seekers, head to Betws-y-Coed to Zip World Forest and experience the thrill of flying through the air and viewing North Wales from a very unique perspective.

Buarthau has something for everyone and will be a special place to gather your loved ones for a Welsh adventure.

Llanrug is a small village with two pubs, two shops, a Post Office, a hotel with indoor swimming pool and fitness room, and a 9 hole golf course is nearby. The village is situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, only 3 miles from famous Llanberis. Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis is something of a 'mecca' for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Llanberis boasts excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 4 miles from Llanrug, on the coast, is Caernarfon with its magnificent 13th century castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd and many wonderful beaches.
