"Excellent lay out for 3 generations and 2 dogs."
Well presented and very comfortable. Really nice to have washing machine and tumble dryer when children are in the party. One of the best cottages we have found ,so hope to be back. Really secure for the dogs and great play space for the grandchildren.
"It was our first time staying in a holiday home, Buarthau cottage has set a very high standard!"
! It was perfect for our family gathering
"Lovely property, wonderful facilities for the children especially, very well equipped with comfortable beds."
The owner was easy to contact if we did have any issues, and very helpful. The conservatory was especially nice to sit in. Despite quite a lot of rain ( and Storm Betty!) we had some merry badminton games (with our own equipment) and my grandson was constantly out with his football. Martin -the owner -tells me they will be replacing the football goal at some point as it's been clearly well loved! The little scooters were a bonus, my 3 grandchildren were straight out on them. Oh, and don't take any toys or drawing equipment for the children, plenty there to keep them occupied. It was lovely to have the sheep in the next field and the young black cows ,we all loved those. We watched the swallows gathering the insects especially early evening, and as a bonus, they were all gathered on the telephone wires chattering as we left on our last morning. Absolutely beautiful countryside nearby and close to Snowdon, for walking or the little train. Zip world is a great place to go to too. Don't miss Plas Cadnant gardens on Anglesey, something for all there, beautiful. Yes, a lovely week with the property as a bonus.
"A great holiday."
Loved all the space. The children loved the garden. Conservatory was lovely and warm and bright. Thank you for the use of Buarthau cottage.. such a beautiful setting. Note to owners only.. Found the living room cold and dark, though not sure much can be done about that. Bedside lamps, especially in the downstairs double room would be a great improvement. Also a cafetiere would be a useful addition.
"We enjoyed our week in Buarthau Cottage which was extremely comfortable and well appointed."
We were 4 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs and were able to utilise the whole cottage. it is beautifully located in the heart of Eryri and especially the Snowden Mountain Railway in Llanberis which is only 5 miles away. We were fortunate that the sun shone on the day we got to the peak of Yr Wyddfa and on our return enjoyed the food and conversation in the Glyntwrog Inn. The Piggery Pottery was fun and particularly for the children amongst us. We thoroughly recommend Buarthau Cottage which is really excellent and we would certainly return when next in North Wales. Lovely clean and pleasant property The only downfall couldn’t get oven’s or extractor fan to work but it didn’t spoil our stay Would return again
Spacious with beautiful gardens and views. The playroom was greatly appreciated by our 2 year old granddaughter.
"The property is perfect for things to do in North Wales."
The house was lovely but we booked it for downstairs bedrooms. The listing stated 2 steps to bunk room and play room whereas there were 2 steps up to the two downstairs bedrooms, one of the steps is a half step and wobbly so unsafe and dangerous for our disabled 80 year old parents. The listing needs amending please to stop other people booking for accessibility when it really isn't. The pans in the kitchen need replacing and old crusty food was in one of them, we could not get the oven, heating or the vacuum to work. The best room was the conservatory which was lovely to chill out in. Not sure what the policy is in Wales, but it would have been nice to have been able to sort our recycling out into separate bins. A plus would be to install an electric charge point, however for future visitors we highly recommend the Ryd-Y-Galen caravan park who let you use their charge point but pre load Project EV on the their app before you go to save stress. It sounds like we had a bad time, we absolutely didn't. North Wales is spectacular and the house was a great base, and the time we did contact the owners about the fridge, they were very helpful and we did appreciate the milk and chocolates on arrival, we also loved the sheep in the field, we would visit again, but without our parents.

"Amazing trip ,the cottage was very clean and well equipped making the trip that bit easier."
"We had a fantastic time at this cottage."
The rooms were lovely and we loved the giant jenga and other games available. Played every night. Location was very ideal as it wasright in the middle of Caernarfon, Zipworld and Anglesey.
"Cottage is in a great location for exploring all of Snowdonia/Anglesey."
It is very clean and seemed to have everything we needed. Very much appreciated the use of the paddock (adjacent to the cottage) to exercise our dog as the back garden has a 3 foot (unfenced) drop on to the patio area. Care should be taken when young children are playing out here, if they are kicking a ball about, it would be so easy to not realise the "drop" is there.. It's a shame there is no bathroom/WC upstairs - all three are on the ground floor - maybe the main family bathroom could do with a shower screen to avoid water going everywhere? The dining room conservatory was lovely, overlooking sheep in the rear paddock.
Nice property. Hopefully returning sometime soon.
"We had a wonderful week in a very comfortable and cozy cottage."
Fantastic location for access to Snowdonia, the Llyn Peninsula, Anglesey. Nice friendly pub with good food a walkable distance away. The cottage was well equipped and clean. Very warm with plenty of hot water. Would definitely return and recommend.
"We had a wonderfull stay here, well equipped home with everything you need, plenty of space, very warm house, if there is one thing I did not find and it was just because I forgot mine would be a hairdryer !"
But we had a great relaxing break and would definitely stay again
"This is a beautiful holiday home in an ideal location."
Everything was thought of and they decorated for christmas for our stay really lovely. The chocolates, homemade cake and Prosecco was a lovely surprise! Can’t recommend this cottage enough ! We really didn’t want to leave. The fireplace is beautiful and was lovely in the evenings. The dog loved the garden and everyone really had a lovely Christmas here. Thankyou to the owners for thinking of everything.
"Really liked the cottage and it’s in a great location for walking or travelling to other parts of Snowdonia…everything very well presented but just some tiny additions would be helpful eg shelf over basin in en-suite for toiletries, coat hooks in various places and toilet roll holders… small things but handy… really enjoyed our stay though, will certainly book again and would recommend highly!"
"We really enjoyed our stay and there was no problems at all , the cottage was very clean and well equipped and everything was easy to use ."
three generations of one family from myself and hubby being in our mid 60 s to the youngest grandchild 12 also our dog everyone had a fab stay and didnt want to go home . we went out most days for days out and only had one wet day luckily . the garden was amazing the boys loved the garden and appreciated the goal post for games of football . we will deffo love a return visit in the future . yours faithfully Mrs S Doyle and family
"Lovely cottage in a great location."
Very handy for all good attractions. Well equipped on the whole. It wasn't clear from the description that the paddock was across the driveway/parking area so we needed to take the dogs over there on lead. However a great space Only minor comment is that it could do with some serving bowls /dishes and a bigger fridge would be helpful as there were a lot of us.
"A fantastic place for a break in Snowdonia."
Perfectly located with lots of things to do only a short drive away. The cottage is beautiful and maintained to a very high standard. It's very comfortable and peaceful with great views in all directions. Would definitely recommend.
"Spacious, comfortable, characterful house with fantastic wrap-around gardens with marvellous views of both mountains and sea, suitable for mixed gatherings."
We were 3 families with baby and dog and loved the versatility of the space, never once being on top of each other. Really great location, set in a private plot but near amenities and close to the best north Wales has to offer. Great having the utility area for boots and doggy paraphernalia; well equipped kitchen (bring your own coffee pot!), gorgeous sunny conservatory and a very relaxing, cool large lounge. A house for all weathers and seasons
"Thank you for a lovely week in your wonderful property."
We felt that the flexibility of accommodation was great and the facilities for children and dogs were excellent. The property was clean and the beds were very comfortable. There is a sloping driveway down to a fast road but there are gates that can be closed to prevent kids and dogs running onto the road. For owners of athletic dogs (able to jump fences) be aware that there are sheep in an adjacent field. We really liked the sun room where we were all able to sit down to family meals, and the large lounge with curved TV was fabulous (we want one now!). The kitchen had plenty of space and there was a nice welcome pack with milk, bread and chocolates. Just a few points: We couldn't find a coffee press for filter coffee. Heating - easy instructions but a couple of the radiators didn't have thermostats so not able to turn them down and the hall and bathroom got very hot. Rubbish - we are used to recycling almost everything but there was no facility for this and we weren't sure if the company collecting rubbish did the recycling after collection. Suggest adding details of nearest recycling facilities to the handbook.
"The cottage was fantastic with views to match."
It had every thing that was needed for a self catering holiday.lots of places to visit in the area.Would highly recommend this property and i will be back.
"Fantastic place, lovely views and had everything we needed, some of the chairs ..."
Fantastic place, lovely views and had everything we needed, some of the chairs in the conservatory where a little broken so we ended up using the bench which was a little uncomfortable as we spent most of the time in the cottage in the conservatory as we did not want to risk them getting more broken everything else was perfect thank you
"Our family of 3 generations were lucky enough to spend a week at this beautiful cottage."
We couldn't of asked for anything more, from the space, the homely feel, the cleanliness, the layout was perfect, everything you needed was there, we loved sitting in the dining conservatory for our meals looking out onto the garden and the views were gorgeous, especially the sunsets, oh and the sheep. Plenty of football and games were had in the lovely garden. Lovely comfy beds, we all slept soo well. The cottage was in a perfect position for all our days out, walking, beach, boat, train, climbing and places for our meals, chippy, curry House, Chinese, what more could we of asked for, just perfect. Can I thank the owners of the property for the gifts they left us, such a lovely touch, and for allowing us to share there gorgeous house, we really did not want to leave. Definitely be booking again. Thankyou.
"Great property loads of open space around the property we had fab weather on our ..."
Great property loads of open space around the property we had fab weather on our weekend so was able to spend time outside too - plenty of room in the accommodation to cater for us all like a home away from home will book again if we’re out that way
"We stayed at Buarthau Cottage for a family holiday for 40th birthday celebrations."
We were a family of 6 adults and one little dog. It was our first visit to Wales and what a wonderful stay it was. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and laid out very well. The facilities at the property exceeded our expectations and the welcome gift was a lovely touch. The rear garden was a great size and as we were very lucky to have nice weather for our entire stay, we made the use of the outdoor space and had a BBQ one of the evening’s. The rear garden was secure and enclosed so we could relax whilst our dog played outside. The sitting room with log burner was a lovely space to relax and unwind in after long days exploring the area. The location was great, only a few mins drive to Caernarfon where we enjoyed some nice meals out. The PDF that was sent via the owner prior to our visit was very useful and we followed the recommendations on there and were not disappointed. We all had a great time and would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for private and spacious accommodation for a family holiday. We will be back for another visit in the future.
Thanks for your lovely feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Martin and Gemma Property Owner
"Beautiful house , beautiful settings , sheep for neighbours which the grandchildren loved , no neighbours so not worried about kids making too much noise and disturbing anyone , very well equipped for all ages from babies to the elderly , games room for the kids and football goal in the garden , not far from snowdonia park , we climbed the Snowdon while we were there , supermarkets very close , pub down the road Glyntwrog inn which we had a lovely meal in , fish and chips shop down the road , lovely very good value , spar shop near by , Indian near by but we didn’t use it , we went to a beautiful beach ,Treath llanddwyn all sand about 30 mins away ."
All round fantastic stay , no complaints , well done to the owners who mad our holiday and unforgettable one thankyou

"We all really enjoyed our stay."
Fantastic location and the cottage was very homely and well equipped. The garden was perfect for the dogs and the conservatory was a fantastic space to sit and eat with a view. The welcome treats and the fire being ready to go was very appreciated. Was also great to have the utility for shoes and feed the dogs etc. All bedrooms were comfy and well equipped along with the bathrooms. Home from home would highly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
"Had a wonderful holiday staying at the cottage, owner was very helpful and left a nice gift pack for us of milk, bread, biscuits etc."
Kids loved the garden and games room and cottage its self is massive with plenty of room for all 6 of us. Large parking area in the driveway too and just off a main road so very easy to access. Would stay there again.
"An absolutely beautiful cottage."
well placed for walking and visiting welsh attractions. the cottage had ample space for our 2 family visit and the amenities within the cottage exceeded our expectations . we loved it
"We had a full week at Buarthau for our sons 30th and enjoyed the space and facilities available."
Large well equipped kitchen with the conservatory for dining. Plenty of room for the 4 of us and our 2 dogs. The secure garden and paddock was great for the dogs. The owners have obviously put a lot of time and effort into the property, log burner and games room for kids (giant Jenga for the grown up kids lol). They also provided a welcome pack, big box of chocolates, milk, good supply of tea and coffee and Welsh cakes. Dishwasher tablets and washing machine detergent was also provided. The tumble drier was welcome as we were rain soaked pretty much every day. Despite the weather we had a terrific week in Snowdonia with the added bonus of staying at a great house. Full marks from us. Many thanks from all 4 of us
"What a lovely house and we are so grateful that you provided a high chair and cot for us."
Had everything we needed and more made our daughters 30th birthday very special. Thank you
"Thank you so much for our stay."
Martin was amazing and kind (this is important to me and I know would be for those in similar boat- I come from a minority group and host made us feel comfortable). Martin even accommodated my request to set up wood fire (I am a noob at that kind of stuff!). We are a family of 6 and found the cottage very spacious. Even had a chance to see sheeps in the neighbour's field. Location was perfect for us i.e. close to Snowdonia and not too far from Llandudno. We now have treasured memories. The cottage pictures are very accurate. The log burner even more beautiful in person. We were greeted with welcome cookies. The kitchen amenities were excellent (tea, coffee etc. even bread and milk!), Including crockery and cookware. The only thing I would suggest is updating the non stick pan/guests to bring own (only troublesome when frying an egg really, so not deal breaker!). To address a review from before yes- bathroom in ensuite isn't heated buut my advise to guest is to leave bathroom door open when not in use to balance temperature :). Hope this was helpful to future guests! Please don't hesitate, it was lovely stay for us (my little one in particular enjoyed play room!)
"Lovely cottage and plenty of equipment although we were missing a colander and kitchen scales."
Also a couple more dinner plates would have been useful and extra cutlery for serving requirements. My husband and I are in our late 70's so we chose the downstairs bedroom with en-siute bathroom. There wasn't any heating in this lovely bathroom and it was freezing cold. So cold it was unbearable and unpleasant to use in the cold months. It never dried out unless the window was left open ( who wants that in an already freezing bathroom ? ) The toilet rolls were always damp and towels that were left in there overnight were damp an cold. The door into disabled bathroom didn't shut so therefor couldn't lock it. Apart from the master bedroom upstairs, there was a shortage of draws for clothes. The pillows on the beds were so thin they need replacing, two pillows together only made the thickness of one. There wasn't a mirror near a plug for hairdryer. The oven door didn't close unless it was slammed shut and we noticed that this had been mentioned last June in the visitor's book. Last of all, the description of the cottage isn't very clear that all bathrooms and toilets are downstairs. We wouldn't have booked this property if it had been made clear. These are all small niggles that are mentioned as constructive criticism can spoil a holiday and be put right quickly to make the guests holiday more enjoyable.
Hi Barbara Thanks for your constructive comments during your stay at Buarthau. Apologies for the late reply. My aim is to close these comments out as best as I can. As you can imagine all trades men are busy during these times. We have now installed a towel rail in the bathroom so the place is nice and warm during winter months. New pillows have bought. Issue with the cooker door has been solved . Thanks again for your stay Regards Martin / Gemma :) Property Owner
"Great property, would love to stay again!"
"This was a great property for our family holiday."
My only issue was we had my disabled father with us and although it says bedrooms on ground floor, the sales assistant didn't mention it was up 2 steps. He managed it so didn't spoil anything for us, it's just for other holiday goers to be aware of. Kids loved it, it's near a very long beach which the dogs loved and everyone we went we were only ones there! Highly recommend it as it made a fab base for our group of 8, our holiday was also made special as my sister's boyfriend proposed while we were there, so you never know a rebook maybe on the cards for future celebrations!
"Well stocked with everything you need"
"This is the second time we have stayed at Buarthau cottage and would definitely recommend it to anyone, fantastic cottage, plenty of space, lovely and clean."
5 star all round
"The cottage is home from home absolutely stunning location couldn’t wish for ..."
The cottage is home from home absolutely stunning location couldn’t wish for anything better, our first holiday in wales and the whole family thoroughly loved the place, plenty to do we had full days out no one wanted to leave and return to work, pleased we found this place
"Lovely cottage, great position for visiting local attractions."
"What a great spot!"
The holiday cottage is perfectly placed to explore Snowdonia NP. We loved the garden that backs onto the surrounding fields and over looks the mountain ranges, perfect for evening meals outside. The kids loved the playroom, the football goals and spend hours on the scooters on the large driveway. A holiday I will remember for a longtime made even better with the heatwave!
"We were 4 adults and a dog staying at Buarthau and it was absolutely fabulous."
The property had everything we needed and was in the perfect location - just a stones throw away from Llanberis and Caernarfon, and just a little further to Anglesey and Beddgelert. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the garden is situated in such a way that you get the sun pretty much all day, with a stunning view of the sunset and plenty of garden furniture to pick from. I thought the property was beautifully decorated, with a lovely big cool (temperature wise) living room, and a spacious kitchen. The garden is secure, which means the dog could just roam around as she pleased, which she really appreciated. The paddock was also perfect for the dog and big enough to throw a ball around. The conservatory/dining area was the main reason I booked this property, and was the perfect setting for our evening meals. I really could go on, but essentially we enjoyed every minute of our stay.
"Place was extremely well cleaned."
Nice welcoming Welsh cakes.Well equipped with everything we could require. Made us feel really like home from home.
"Just brilliant fantastic spotlessly clean cottage with everything you would need ..."
Just brilliant fantastic spotlessly clean cottage with everything you would need and more so many amazing little touches milk in the fridge Welsh cakes tea coffee box of chocolates all there waiting for us just brilliant fantastic
"The cottage was immaculate and clean and extremely well kitted out."
Only downside - there was no bathroom upstairs to serve the 2 bedrooms.
"The cottage is in a lovely countryside location near to the railway up snowdon but also easy access to all the towns beautiful cottage so clean and comfortable."
Really enjoyed sitting in the conservatory looking out on the fields and hills wil definitely be back our group of 5 adults had plenty of space either to be together or quiet time by ourselves
"Wonderful clean cottage."
.everything you could want! The kids loved it.
"We stayed as a family of 7, a two year old and a dog."
The house had everything we needed and more!! It was brilliantly placed for exploring and lovely and clean. Can’t recommend it enough
"Buarthau Cottage was a fabulous place to stay for Christmas."
It is warm and cosy with a quirky layout. Lots of space, spotlessly clean and lots of little extras to make us comfortable. Even the dog was made welcome with a bed and food bowls. Friendly neighbours pointed us to the best local walks. Highly recommended.
"An amazing home from home."
Such lovely touches as well ie bread, milk etc. First time I have used Sykes and if the standard is always this high I will never look anywhere else. If you are looking for a cottage look no further than this cottage

About the location
Llanberis 2 miles; Caernarfon 4 miles; Betws-y-Coed 15 miles.
Llanrug is a small village with two pubs, two shops, a Post Office, a hotel with indoor swimming pool and fitness room, and a 9 hole golf course is nearby. The village is situated in the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountain Range, only 3 miles from famous Llanberis. Dominated by the grandeur of the Snowdon Massif, Llanberis is flanked by two lakes, Llyn Padarn and Llyn Peris, and is one of the most popular mountain tourist centres in the Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis is something of a 'mecca' for walkers and climbers, being the starting point for the ascent of Snowdon - the highest mountain in Wales. The ascent can be made either by train, on the Snowdonia Mountain Railway, or on foot along one of the many routes to the summit. Llanberis boasts excellent places to eat and drink and a great choice of shopping. Just 4 miles from Llanrug, on the coast, is Caernarfon with its magnificent 13th century castle and town walls and close by are National Trust properties at Penrhyn and Plas Newydd and many wonderful beaches.
