  • "When first entering the property it looked very nice, particularly with music playing when you go in."

After a few hours you begin to notice things that should not be allowed to happen. Cleanliness in the bathroom being the main item. Dirty shower pipe and the shower cubicle in general, nothing a bit of bleach wouldn't put right. Small window very dirty when opened, also hinges. Toaster in kitchen should be replaced if possible. Doors have been turned around and not finished correctly, lots of gaping holes. Too cluttered in the lounge, too many sofas and chairs, like an obstacle course. Too many mirrors that had items obstructing your view, two next to each other, totally unnecessary. This was a shame as many of the items were good quality.

As previous guests have stated the photos do not do justice to this beautiful property. Tastefully decorated throughout, well equipped, spotlessly clean with breathtaking views. Thoughtful welcome goodies and lots of useful information about the Island - we cannot fault it. Thank you!

  • "Swn Y Wylan was a fabulous bungalow on the edge of Menai Bridge but conveniently close to the restaurants in town and a great starting point for seeing the island of Anglesey."

The owners had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The kitchen was well equipped, the storage in the bedrooms plentiful and the extra touches really appreciated. The views from the house were fantastic and we spent hours just appreciating the changing skies and the glimpses of the mountains when the clouds broke. We would definitely like to return.

Fantastic views over Menai straits. Private and beautiful gardens. Would highly recommend. Hope to return soon.

It was very hard to drag ourselves away from the fantastic views over the Menai Straits and mountains beyond. We have always enjoyed our visits to Anglesey but Swn Y Wylan is an ideal location to explore from and come back each evening to relax in comfort and style. A week wasn’t long enough and we could easily have stayed much longer. Thank you for the thoughtful welcome items, suggestions for places to visit and for creating such a beautiful place for us to relax and enjoy. We hope to return very soon.

  • "Had a wonderful week at Swn Y Wylan enjoying magnificent views over the Menai Straits."

The cottage is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, spacious, comfortable and has great facilities throughout. The kitchen and utility room has everything you need. The outdoor seating areas are great for enjoying the views (we were lucky with the sunshine) and private parking is easy. Great to have a wood burner for the evenings. Also good to have choice of TV options with smart TV. Lots of nice touches set it above the rest like ready made fire, starter pack, welcome card, wine, fudge, bottled water & milk in the fridge, Newspapers and TV Guide, the nice room sprays, relaxing spa shower wash, fairy lights in the entrance way, outdoor solar lights round the terrace. Mum loved the Welsh cakes! I didn't get chance to taste so will take her word for it! The radio was on when we first entered the cottage and was classic FM though it was a piano concerto and we actually thought someone was greeting us with a piano :) Ellen and Gordon were so helpful and friendly. The cottage is close enough to walk into town to the nice restaurants and there are several nice walks and places to see around Menai Bridge from Cadnant Gardens to the Belgian Promenade. But on Anglesey you are never far from anywhere. Menai Bridge is a good base for exploring.

Perfect setting fabulous interior …: Private and perfect for a getaway break with amazing views The advert on Menai holiday website is confusing … one part of the advert says 3 bedrooms at the beginning and then 2 bedrooms … there are 2 really great bedrooms with great views and comfy beds but the advert is misleading

The cottage is very comfortable with ample space to relax and a very well-equipped kitchen. The balcony area at the front of the house is perfect for catching the morning sun and the rear terrace and BBQ area gets the evening sun. The house felt very private and was not overlooked by any neighbours and there was ample parking. The cottage has many home comforts, a lot of thought has been put into the furnishings and facilities to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.

It was very well equipped, with lovely furnishings and lots of extras (Sykes need to update the photos as the house is even better than the photos). There were so many things that made this house a comfortable and special place to stay. The owners have done such a good job on making the house inviting with thoughtful extras that are rare in a holiday let. It is modern, fresh, welcoming, very clean and we would love to go back!

..oh, and the views over the strait - stunning! The owners put a lot of TLC to their holiday project and we appreciated it and will be back. In the description of the property it says that there are only 2 bedrooms when in fact there are 3. The information given was confusing because it mismatched the pictures provided.

  • "The high location of the cottage above the waters of the Menai Strait is certainly a premier feature."

Considering all we are going through at the moment, the cottage was extremely clean and smelt fresh. The result, I would guess, of a lot of extra hard work on behalf of whoever cleaned the place. Internally the cottage is open plan and there is a lot of space. We liked the non-slip floor in the large shower - that was excellent. The kitchen had plenty of room to self-cater. The gas rings on the stove took a little getting used to, but the dual electric ovens were excellent. Bedrooms were super and were very clean. Door lock on the outside door was a bit dodgy and needed a good hard pulling to before the catch would engage. The extension was a very useful feature for storing jackets and rucsacs etc. There is plenty of room for two or three cars. Angelsey is the largest island in England and Wales at 276 sq.miles, so you do a lot of driving to get to places and there are a lot of places that are well worth visiting. Beaumaris is the honeyspot of the island, but despite that it is well worth visiting. Asda at Llangefni has the cheapest petrol at 110.7p for unleaded when we were there (Sept/Oct 2020), but we saw 119.9p. Do your research well before you visit for places on the island to visit. The walk via Menai's back streets along the water front, under Telford's Bridge (amazing) to Church Island is fabulous. Finish uphill at Waitrose. The weather was reasonably kind to us, so we were able to do a lot of walking and exploring. We stayed in Menai Bridge, where the cottage is located and the newspaper shop next to The Bulkeley Arms and the three coffee shops/cafes in the centre were all great with really friendly folk attending to customers. Angelsey is most certainly a great holiday destination.

  • "The property was excellent and warm enough in good autumn weather."

One thing that might let it down in cold winter weather is that the floor is bare floorboards, a consistent thing we find in holiday lets, also no curtains and doors removed. Re-instating some of these will make it more comfortable in very cold weather and cheaper to heat. The location is a good base for exploring and close to amenities. It is quiet and the view from the property is exceptional.
