Perfect weekend away. Property is in a great location, very clean and has all the amenities you need. We particularly loved the open plan living area with log fire. We’ll be back and recommend it to anyone wanting to explore Anglesey.

  • "Fantastic cottage in a great location."

We’ll-equipped, spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. View of the tide turning from balcony was great to watch. We didn’t meet the owner but they made us feel so welcome via text, a welcome pack and a greeting card. It’s a magnificent place to relax and explore the island.

  • "Opened the door and Wow!"

A spacious superbly decorated and furnished apartment. Easy walking distance into Menai Bridge shopping area. views from the veranda were superb. This property is actually in a cove off the Straights but the Straights and it's shipping can be seen quite easily. When the tide is in the water comes right up to the base of the property. Ideal for bird watching. So relaxing.

  • "It cannot be denied that The Old Mill is in a glorious location."

Views across the inlet to the Menai Straits are fascinating to watch as the tide flows in and out. I am sure at most times it is a very tranquil scene to observe. However a few things are worthy of note. For a property that sleeps 8 there is barely room for 2 cars to park (depending on size). The lower apartment has two spaces too. The balcony although at a great height for viewing from is very narrow. You can sit on wooden benches on it but it is too narrow to have a meal or breakfast from for any more than 4 people. The lower apartment residents seem to have a penchant for curries - or they make and sell them. For half of the holiday the smell was wafting up onto the outside deck. I was disappointed that we were not forewarned that next door was having a party wall building demolished and although I am sure they did their best the noise of a jackhammer and drills meant it was fortuitous we had planned days out during working hours. There was no 'compensatory gift' left to at least go some way to reward us for our patience. Unless the 50cl bottle of Spanish Sherry in the lounge was it? Poor Wales - nothing local, nothing Welsh. On the plus side the property was really clean. The linens and towels of good quality and the furniture in the lounge, ample and comfortable. Plenty of space for 8 within the Mill. The main road may be a bother to some but it does quieten down at night. I write this in such detail as two emails to Menai Holidays (akaSykes) to discuss our experience and maybe ask if future renters could be told about the works next door, have gone unanswered. This review seems to be the only way to report our experience. Not ideal in my opinion

Thank you for your feedback and The Old Mill is indeed in a fabulous location with many happy return guests. The full length balcony is a standard width and supplied with seating, the owner also provides guests with seriously good binoculars and an array of bird identification books. The large dining table is situated just within the balcony doors where the views can still be enjoyed. The website does clearly state there is parking for 2 cars. We have not received any feedback regarding a smell of curry! Details of who to contact are left in the cottage but I can find no log of any contact in the booking. However, I am sorry you were disturbed by noise from next door and it will be checked. Property Owner

The balcony has amazing views, and if (like us) you are interested in birdwatching there are plenty too see, and binoculars, bird books and warm blankets are provided by the owner. There is a very good choice of various fiction and non-fiction books provided in the little library upstairs. The Old Mill is very close to some excellent restaurants and cafes, and a good supermarket. There are many places of interest close by, a highlight for us was Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens, which is walking distance from the Old Mill. All in all we had a great holiday, and we would definitely stay there again.

Lovely views from the balcony but traffic noise from the road a little bit more than we anticipated Very nice inside-spacious and well equipped Parking for us was fine with one car but would have been tighter with any more than 1 car as downstairs often had 2 cars on their side of the drive Position of property is ideal being within walking distance to bars/restaurants in Menai but also easy drive to Beaumaris (nice place) and also close to Menai Bridge for exploring North Wales

  • "Access and parking is limited and the upper floor is not for tall people."

The lounge floor was well equipped with good kitchen facilities, though catering for more than 4 would need to use the lounge table. The beds and seating were comfortable but again were only really suitable for 4. Overall a pleasant experience for a party of 4 ageing adults

  • "Wonderful location looking over the Strait, yet shops, cafes etc within an easy stroll."

Incredibly well renovated and furnished to a high standard, with everything you could possibly need. The only reason it hasn't got 5 stars is that there were a few bits missed in the cleaning.

  • "Our best cottage that we have stayed in, so far on Anglesey, for convenience, cleanliness, and space."

Fabulous setting on the edge of the Menai Straits with the added bonus of the double patio doors onto the glass balcony, wonderful views of the small local Islets and glimpses through to the Menai Straits, birdlife is incredible on the mud-flats at low tide. Easy stroll to Cadnant Hidden Gardens or Menai Bridge itself with its good array of coffee shops and restaurants as well as gift shops and dress shops, with the added bonus of Waitress on your doorstep.

  • "Spacious well equipped property."

Very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The number of towels was a little mean for 6 adults, 5 bath towels and 4 hand towels. We were also expecting some wood for the wood burner, although we were staying in June we had some chilly wet evenings. The view from the house is beautiful and great for bird watchers.
