  • "We have stayed in lots of holiday cottages but wouldn't return to this one."

Investment had been made in the kitchen, bathroom, plastering and doors. However, the fan in the bathroom sounded like a bucket of bolts, and the water was extremely hot. The mattresses were stained and had no mattress protectors the pillows were without protectors too, linen and towels were poor, a quick visit to Dunelm for us!. On arrival the cleaning was sub-standard and there wasn't a vacuum or clean products to use, also broken glass in the dishwasher! I wouldn't recommend until improvements are made, very disappointing.

  • "This is a pretty cottage in a lovely village."

It is well decorated and equipped. The directions need to be updated because a phone kiosk is not visible but it was easy to find on Google maps. We were disappointed by the cleaning as well as the quality of the towels and linen. We spent the first evening dusting skirting boards, under beds, wiping cupboards. We certainly left it cleaner than we found it. There was no hoover provided. Upstairs bed was uncomfortable. There was no way of contacting the owners except through Sykes. As we arrived after 8pm this was disconcerting. We haven’t used Sykes before but have used other cottage companies.

  • "What an amazing week in such a lovely cottage."

There is no WiFi which was a bonus for me as it meant my kids stayed off their phones. We read the previous reviews so we took some camping chairs for the garden as my parents are 85 and I really recommend you do this as it’s a beautiful garden. We also accidentally locked ourselves out. Sykes cottages and Richard the owner were both amazing at getting the keys to us on what was bank holiday Monday. I can’t recommend both the cottages and Sykes enough. Thank you so much for a wonderful week away.

  • "This is the first rental from you that disappointed us."

We like Menai and Sykes, all other rentals have been great. The picture is very deceiving, a small front garden was not expected and the parking space was a joke, a bad one. If we had had a saloon or above it would be impossible to park. The directions were terrible. We had to ask 3 locals how to get there after following the instructions to the letter which brought us to a dead end lane. We had to park up and walk in to find the house. If we had Arrived in the village In the dark we would have been very lucky to find our way around. The outside windows had not been cleaned since......which spoiled the view..... and there was a layer of dust on the big box in the fireplace, the sofa armrests were covered in grime, the bath did not drain, the oven trays were filthy and there were no cloths or soaps to wipe round any surface. There were no garden chairs or table??? To all who read this AVOID unless changes are made. The village is fine, as is the area, as are the agents who have been brilliant during the Covid mess with our other rentals. The 10 rating is for the agents.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you feel the cottage did not meet your personal standards. However, I have checked the photos & description on the website, in particular with regard the garden, parking and directions and feel they more than adequately reflect a true picture of the cottage and facilities we offer. I will of course address the cleanliness issues but would like to point out that they paint a very different picture to those presented by the guest who stayed in the cottage the previous week who described Tegfan as " a lovely cottage & very homely". Although this is a self catering cottage we do usually leave cleaning items such as cloths & soaps however, due to the current pandemic our guests safety is paramount and we are following Government guidelines to leave as little in the cottage as possible which could transmitt the virus. Unfortunately we do not provide garden furniture and the website does not advertise this but our guests are welcome to bring folding chairs etc to use in our lovely front garden with the fabulous sea views! • "Lovely cottage, very homely, we had a very relaxing week."

Only issues were the shower sticking on very hot but very prompt action got us a plumber to fix the shower within two hours. Also, we tried to sleep upstairs but mattress too hard and needs changing. We therefore slept in the room downstairs which was very comfortable. Village was very friendly and had everything we needed; a shop, a couple of excellent eating places and tremendous views, especially as we walked over the cliffs. We had a very busy, fulfilling week with lots of exploring. We can recommend the Parys mountains and the spectacular copper mines, Plas Newydd house and gardens, the Hidden Gardens and all the beautiful coastal walks. Would recommend Tegfan at Moelfre to anyone.

  • "Beautiful, renovated cottage with full homely facilities."

Situated close to the beach, local pub, cafe and just a short walk to the best fish and chip shop we’ve been to in a long time. The cottage has a lovely gated front garden, with a sea view and a compact but pretty back garden which is a sun trap in the evenings. This is a good base for the coastal walks right on the doorstep.

  • "A lovely spacious cottage in a splendid location!"

Had a great week. As a bonus, the rear garden provides a good dark-sky site; when the nights are clear the views of the stars are fabulous.
