  • "This was our second stay in Oak Cottage and it didn’t disappoint."

It is clean and well-apppointed, in a quiet spot with lovely views from the rear windows and garden across countryside to the sea. There are great beaches nearby and places of interest to visit. The owner is welcoming and helpful. We warmly recommend it.

  • "Just come back from a lovely week at Oak Cottage."

The hosts are lovely and it’s clear the cottages are their pride and joy- I had to ask what laundry stuff they used as it smelt so good! The cottages are pristine and well equipped, beds are very comfy! The location is idyllic- you can see the sea from both bedrooms and kitchen and plenty of safe parking. Little local shop nearby but bigger coop slightly further out and bigger Asda etc in Llangefni. We plan to return!

  • "The cottage has everything one needs plus very spacious to have a comfortable holiday."

The cottage is located in middle of a farm. Our younger one enjoyed interacting with sheer and chicken. The cottage provides an expansive view to the sea, which is quite soothing on a clear morning. Hosts are warm and welcoming. Would return.

  • "This is a modern and attractively decorated cottage in a lovely rural location with a view over fields to the sea."

We felt the exterior shots on the website didn’t really do justice to the beautiful setting. There is a spacious open-plan kitchen/living room/diner and two good sized bedrooms each with its own en-suite. The twin room has a walk-in shower which is especially helpful for guests with mobility problems. WiFi speeds are excellent and there are plenty of sockets for devices, chargers etc. The kitchen is well-equipped. The fridge is relatively small so topping up fresh goods regularly may be more practical than a big weekly shop. However, there is additional freezer space in the shared laundry room. Besides the countryside, there are several good beaches in easy reach by car. The friendly and helpful owner lives on-site. We had a wonderful holiday. Highly recommended.

It was warm and comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Theresa, the owner, was very welcoming and friendly. We used it as a base to visit relatives nearby, and would happily stay there again.

  • "The host was very friendly, helpful and welcoming."

Accommodation was very good and had more facilities than advertised. The only issue is with Booking.com which I assume is part of the same group as sykes. I responded to booking.com regarding time of arrival and the booking was for 2 people. I received a response that my arrival time was convenient to the host. However, the host did not receive any notification of my arrival time and was expecting 5 guests. Whilst the booking.com website is easy to use for the customer you need to do a lot of work to help the hosts. Had I not been able to gain access to the property my review would have been totally different. I hear from friends that they have had similar experiences so you need to sort that out.

We are walkers and adored Anglesey, so unspoilt and we'll managed tourism - but not mass tourism. Everybody we talked to do friendly. Psst! Don't tell anybody else. I am scheming already when to return.

There is no pub in the village, but when you have been out all day and come back to nice home cooked meal with a glass or two of wine maybe three or four who needs one. There are pubs in Amlwch only a mile and half away with very good CoOp and a great fish and chip shop at the side of the harbour car park.Hope to be some time in the future Jim and Janet

We couldn't ask for a quieter area with such beautiful views of the sea and fields, the outside of the cottage doesn't do it justice. We are looking at another visit next year if my mother is well enough. Thank you again. Anne and Esther

  • "A lovely, spacious, comfortable cottage in a quiet pretty location."

OK, it's not the prettiest of cottages to look at but once you're inside you couldn't wish for better. Penysarn is ideally placed for access to this beautiful island, although the village only has a shop and a post office as the pub closed some time ago. The walk into the village from Oak Cottage only takes about 5-10 mins but it is a steep hill back. There's plenty of parking outside the shop though. The owner Theresa is lovely and gave us a warm welcome and even came to say goodbye and to check that everything had been OK. We had a wonderful holiday and week of warm sunny weather.

  • "I cant recommend this cottage enough!"

It is in a stunning area with great views all around. There is a little patio area with chairs and table which is relatively private and you can enjoy views out to the coast from there. The cottage is beautifully fitted out, very comfortabole and has everything you need for a great holiday. We were spoilt for choice as to where to visit next, in fact we didnt use the car for the first 2 days, we walked from the cottage to Port Lynas lighthouse and the fantastic Parys Mountain Coppermine trail. The coastal scenery is stunning all around the island with lovely sandy beaches and rocky bays everywhere. Theresa, the owner is so friendly and helpful. Very highly recommended

A little written guidance on the operation of central heating and fire would have helped but we figured it out. Accessibility was a key factor in our choice and in this respect the cottage was ideal.

About the location

PENYSARN

Amlwch 2 miles.

Penysarn is an old mining village on the north east coast of Anglesey, which used to have its own recognised currency minted from copper from the nearby mines. It forms the starting point of many circular tourist walks, including industrial heritage walks such as Llwybr Cadi Rondol, which takes walkers through the old copper mines at Mynydd Parys, with their unusual lunar landscape. The Anglesey coastal path runs past the village and there are the usual amenities associated with a village including post office, village pub, grocers and village school. Less than 5 miles away is the delightful seaside village of Moelfre, boasting little cottages, a picturesque port, a beach, fine views of Snowdonia, a working lifeboat, and two quality pubs/restaurants. Visit the hugely popular local Seawatch Centre, take boat trips around the coast and enjoy fishing or watching sea birds, seals and even dolphins, or discover wonderful cliff-top walks with stunning mountain views. A perfect location for travelling around this lovely island and throughout beautiful Snowdonia.
