  • "We loved our stay, the property worked well for us as a family and we loved the decor."

We had read reviews before came so knew what to expect from the property. It was well equipt, we only missed a full length sweeping brush and mop. We did struggle with the Wi-Fi and never got connected so I’m not sure if the password has changed since the welcome book was put together perhaps? Also, just a few logs for the first night, would have been nice, though in the end with the unseasonably warm weather we chose not to use the log burner. Overall we had a great stay, the location was perfect for exploring beautiful Anglesey and the house comfortable and clean. We know the property is on the market so perhaps won’t be available for holiday let much longer, but still, if it were we would return in the future.

  • "The layout of the property is brilliant."

It is a shame the caravan park at the rear of the property is not mentioned and we were glad we went out of season - perhaps this is why the property is for sale? It could also do with a deep clean, especially of floors and this should not be expected of guests when they have paid over £600 for a week - we have never been asked to do this anywhere else. The sofa is very uncomfortable unless you want to lie down and would be awful for older people or people with mobility problems. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was good. Internet access went down after one day but young gentleman from Menai Cottages sorted it for us and was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay overall though.

  • "8/10 for the holiday cottage."

Only small things that let it down. that can easily be amended. No shaving point in bathroom ,no grill pan in top oven. Clean and didn't smell of dogs although a dog friendly cottage. I did put the broom behind the large bed to remove some cobwebs and dust but i do appreciate you couldn't move the bed due to it being very heavy., super king I think and no pillow protectors. Having said this yes I would stay there again and was very satisfied. My second dog friendly holiday this year but the other was with one of your competitors and your cottage was far superior, we left their property after two nights due to lack of cleanliness. Yes Sykes will be first choice for next holiday.

  • "Location was great."

Nice walk to the local pub (who do amazing food) and to the local shop. The property was a little tired looking with lots of cobwebs and crockery etc that had been put away dirty. Could be a lovely place , just needs a little TLC and a good clean. Unfortunately the cows in the adjacent field seemed to attract a lot of flies and bluebottles into the house.

Inside cushions need replacing tired and old. Outside furniture could do with being replaced not like the photos shown. Outside cushions were dirty and old too. Photos of kitchen show coffee machine and filter neither were in this property and had to go and buy basics of kitchen cloths. Don’t normally say or complain but I have noticed this property is on the market to be sold so could be why it’s not been updated.

Eiriannedd had a really well equipped kitchen which had everything we needed. The property was well placed for us to visit all our favourite places and our dog Snoop had a whale of a time!! The only slight criticism I would have is that 5 0’clock was rather late to gain entry on the 1st day. It meant that Friday was lost really. Most other places have allowed us in at 3. Overall though it was a great place.

We issued an email to Sykes cottages however received no response, we were unable to contact anyone from the house as no emergency contact details. My wife was suffering from a chest infection and due to not being able to heat the house we left. i have stayed in numerous rentals over the years and there is always an information booklet available and at the very least a contact number. I am also suspicious about the two off echo dots we found that did not respond to any sort of voice control along with a secondary internet network. It was only after trying for twenty minutes to connect to the Erianedd network we sused it is actually the Vodafone network that is for guests.

I'd say a little tired inside. Settees are a poor design and you need lots cushions. The smell from the oil fired central heating takes some getting used too. In fairness it's in the kitchen area rather than everywhere. The master bedroom is great, with a huge bed that's comfortable. The property has all you need for your holiday. I would consider going back. I've tried to be honest and fair in my experience at the property.

  • "I have just returned from a weeks stay in Eiriannedd."

On arrival first impression was very nice. On entering the bungalow very bright, spacious. On opening the door to the lounge there was a doggy smell. This appeared to be coming from the rug and soft furnishings (these looked like they needed cleaning, if not replacing). Inside the lounge near the door the laminate/ wooden floor has lifted. This I feel is a hazard to guests. In the utility there was a very strong fuel type smell, this was quite overpowering. There was still dirty laundry on the floor under the high chair which I can only imagine were from the previous guests. In the kitchen some of the crockery was chipped and had not been cleaned properly. The pans and frying pan again not been scrubbed to clean properly, I think they had just been put in the dish washer and then into the cupboard and not checked. Cooking utensils - scissors in the drawer under the hob we’re broken, therefore they could not be used. There were six adults and when it came to bathroom facilities the one bathroom was a bit of a struggle. Maybe look at including an ensuite in the spacious main bedroom. Daily we did not have enough hot water for everyone to have warm/hot shower. The garden area had beautiful views although we were not advised that the bungalow overlooked a small camp/caravan site. I feel this information should be stated in accommodation details. The garden itself needs some care to make it safer and child friendly. The garden did not live up to the expectations from the pictures on the website. The patio seating area was dirty, overgrown with weeds. The wooden area near the barbecue was rotting. The barbecue was rusting, had not been emptied by previous guests. The Dead plants need getting rid of. In the garden small table made from tiles was rusting, tiles were missing and bigger tiles had just been left on top of the table to cover the missing tiles. The grid areas need proper secure covers to prevent injuries. By the side of the house there were items of furniture which just looked like they were waiting to be taken to the tip. The owner needs to update their information pack for the accommodation. With information such as: recycling, how to get hot water. I hope that my feedback helps yourselves and the owner to make greater improvements Eiriannedd for the future. Kind Regards Michelle Birchall

  • "Nitial impressions as we walked into the front door was the smell."

There had clearly been a big black (plenty of dog hair still about) dog staying there and there was a very strong smell especially in the kitchen. We are dog owners ourselves but it was very off putting. We hoovered ourselves to try and help. There was also some unwashed bedding on the top bunk. So initial impressions were unfortunately not good. Outside the bbq was dirty and the baby seat for the swing was broken - my 1 year old was desperate to go on and so this lead to an early melt down. We hid the broken and frankly dangerous swing. The mud kitchen from the images wasn't there either. All the furniture outside was tired and the table had missing tiles which had been 'replaced' by ones too big. However, positives, the house is a brilliant size, stays cool when the weather is hot, the sandpit and slides are great for the kids, washing machine and dishwasher are a big plus (although the dinner plates are too large to fit in and allow the arm to spin) . The house has clearly been done up to a high standard fairly recently. It's close to Newborough beach which is perfect for kids and dogs and must be up there with the best beaches in the country. Overall we had a lovely stay, initial impressions weren't good, and no welcome package of milk or anything which many others do. Outside needs a bit of tlc and repairs (properly). But in all we've had a lovely holiday.

However, we were disappointed on several fronts.. Cleaning appeared to have been done in a hurry despite late check-in time. There was dirty crockery left in the dishwasher and wet pillow -cases left in the washing machine which, by the time we discovered them, had gone smelly and had to be re-washed by us. There was also no mention of the fact that the field behind the garden is a caravan and camping site, so no privacy there. Finally, don’t expect a welcome-pack, not even a pint of milk. The only extras are what have been left by previous guests. Disappointing!!

  • "The house was decorated and furnished lovely and the process booking through sykes was very easy and thorough."

We do have one main complaint about our stay though, considering the check in/out times have been severely reduced due to covid to maximize extra cleaning measures, the cleanliness of the property was extremely disappointing, to the point we would not return to this property. A thorough clean had not been undertaken at all prior to us arriving (5pm), considering check out is 10.30am, that gives 6.5 hours of cleaning time. We ended up washing all of the plates, glasses, cups and cutlery as all were dirty, the bathroom was really unclean (only the toilet and sink had been washed) and all of the rooms had dust on the surfaces. Finally and one of the most off putting things, in the area between the back door and the boiler/storage room, there is such a strong unpleasant smell coming from it, we had to hold our breath when walking outside through the area, it almost smells of chemicals but this should absolutely be checked before allowing anyone else to stay in the property, the cleaner surely would have know of this foul smell if there were thoroughly cleaning on our day of arrival, which again makes us think the property was hardly touched.

I have only given 4 stars because of a few things that we have found in other properties that we did not find here really do help.A welcome pack is always nice when you arrive.Kitchen items - dish washer tablets (enough for your stay) kitchen foil and kitchen roll all really helpful, also an extra pizza tray one is not enough if you have six people.Bathroom- one toilet roll.Lastly pillows need replacing and pillow protectors added ( yellow stains) when we stripped the beds. This is not bad feed back just trying to point out things to help. Thanks for a lovely few days.

Great location very close to the beach. Just a couple of things - the high chair, was quite dirty so didn’t end up using it, and also it should state before booking, that you need to clean and have the cottage back to its original state before leaving.
