  • "Fantastic week spent in a great spot."

Perfect holiday spent with a great view and a box of books. Mixed weather, the hut was perfect throughout and I can imagine it would be even more cosy with the fire lit - but I was never cold enough! Gwyneth was a great host, the little extra touches on arrival were appreciated and I will definitely be booking again and recommending to others.

  • "Exactly as pictured and described - a shepherd's hut, on a working farm - even so, it's fitted well enough to cater for most needs (shower, hob, fridge, and even wi-fi broadband!"

) Heating is mainly supplied by a small log-burner which when lit provided more than enough heat for us both and this was in January with 50 MPH winds outside!! (We can assure everyone that the hut is well anchored!) It was a perfect base for my wife and I to go walking, and when weather was bad, to sit in, read, write, edit photo's and enjoy the peacefull views. Apart from weather conditions out to sea, the ocean is visible from every window along with livestock, open fields, mountains - the only visible habitation seemed miles away! you really are alone here. However, our host was very approachable, easily found or contacted and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. We hesitate to recommend this property only because it would mean less available dates for us - but seriously, if you want to escape into a beautiful landscape where the main noises are the weather, an occaisional bleat of sheep and the calling of birds this is the place. A perfect cosy retreat for one or two people and an inspirational haven if you're of the creative persuasion.

  • "I loved that it was quite basic accommodation but also comfortable, out of the way and so quiet and peaceful."

I appreciated the radio but glad of no TV (not that you could have fitted one in). I was also pleased to find a pint of milk and 2 small bottles of cold water in the fridge. There was no hot water to the sink but the kettle provided enough for my needs. The shower worked very well so there was enough hot water to keep me clean. I loved Anglesey and found it easy to get around to visit places and after a busy day it was bliss to come back to the peace and quiet. Would I come again? YES most definitely. Friends have already asked for the details after seeing my photos.

Thank you for your feedback. Customer comments are very important to us. The property has a starter pack for the woodburner but after this is used, Customers needs to buy their own wood. Due to the size of the property we dont have the space for a fan. Property Owner

The hut itself was surprisingly spacious, with a lovely little kitchen, more than adequate wood burner, and a superb little bathroom. The shower was spot on after a day kayaking. The views from all sides, both day and night were breathtaking, with a wonderful view of the sea, and closer to home so much wildlife with birds of prey observed metres away. Not to mention the inquisitive cows in the field next to us. Overall, we really wished we could have stayed longer. The peace and tranquillity really makes this stay a must for busy people, and busy lives! Stay here and admire the wonderful view with a glass of wine!

  • "Wonderful Shepard’s hut we had a perfect week with the weather so able to explore the area and days out kayaking and paddle boarding."

The views of the sunset in the evening was magnificent, the cows and sheep in the field was a delight. WiFi was brilliant, great not to have a TV but the only problem we did have was the water pressure, once we read previous reviews we decided to buy 2 buckets and a big sponge so we filled them up every day so we could have a wash down after our adventures in the sea, this was not a problem to us as we are very adaptable and it was fun, we had to boil the kettle to get hot water but as long was we filled up every day this was not a problem either. We did mention it but I don’t think they could do anything about it, this did not spoil our holiday.

  • "The hut was well made and solid and cosy in the very windy weather."

The views were stunning. However the water facilities were next to non existent. In the morning the two sinks either had no water or a trickle and neither had hot water at all. The shower was similar but even when water flowed it just kept quickly alternating between very cold and scalding hot so we were unable to shower at all. We called round to the house but no one was in so we rang later that day while we were out. The host was apologetic and offered us to have a shower in her house if need be which was appreciated. She also explained this was a recurring problem as the water facilities are simply not up to the job particularly when the cows are thirsty and she is doing a big laundry wash! There are plans to rectify this by putting in a larger tank at some point. We returned quite late that evening, about 10pm, so could not take advantage of the offer of a shower at the house. In the morning the water situation was exactly the same and we left again without showering. Fortunately the next similar type of place we stayed at - at about two thirds of the price BTW - had a very good shower room that worked. We are seasoned campers/glampers and are used to roughing it sometimes but feel that we paid a top price for the hut. This was not in any way justified by the inadequacy of the facilities. Feeling very dissatisfied, we think we deserve some money refunded.

The views from this hut were amazing and made us want to sit out on the balcony during day and night. The hut contains all the essentials and there is an equipped kitchen area that we were able to make full breakfasts, lunches and dinners. The log burner was a nice treat when it became a little cooler in the evenings. It is a short stroll from a couple of pebble beaches. Apart from that, a car is necessary to get you to further attractions, supermarkets and pubs and restaurants. Mrs Campbell was a really welcoming host. She briefly checked on us one afternoon and was always willing to answer any questions or give suggestions. We will definitely be going back!

.....but I needn’t have worried because we had a wonderful weeks holiday. The hut itself is very cosy , we slept very well on the bed , the halogen hob is a great bit of kit , as well as toaster , kettle and lots of other kitchen utensils. Yes you do have to adapt to living in a small hut environment but that’s part of the fun. There was a slight problem with the water pressure which wasn’t a major issue and Gwyneth the lovely owner was on the case ! A very determined women whom I’m sure will find the fault and have it fixed in no time. Gwyneth by the way is lovely to talk to , very knowledgeable, friendly and always there if you need help. Finally the best asset of the hut is the view ! Open both doors and suddenly from a small hut to open green fields , sea , sky , mountain, sheep , cattle , birdsong, fantastic. We were very lucky with the weather and made best use of the outside space, I brought 2 recliner chairs from home and there is a BBQ to use with the hut so taking in all that scenery, very relaxing and peaceful.

About the location

Trearddur Bay 3 miles.

The bustling town of Holyhead rests on the North West coast of the Isle of Anglesey, the largest town on the island and perhaps known best for being the main ferry port to Ireland. Steeped in history, the town boasts the remains of Roman town walls and forts, medieval burial chambers and stone village foundations. Explore the Breakwater Country Park, a former quarry, which offers designated walks through the grounds. The park is full of interesting wildlife, most notably the seals who visit the Holyhead coast, and outlines the amazing construction of the world's longest breakwater, some 1.8 miles, which today protects the harbour. Visit the colourful marina with its yachts and tall ships, or the town's maritime museum, with its tales of 100 shipwrecks in the vicinity. Day trips to Ireland can be enjoyed easily from here, with Dublin just 90 minutes away on the fast ferry. With spectacular cliff top walks over Holyhead Mountain, golden sandy beaches at the award winning Trearddur Bay and the Snowdonia National Park just a 20 minute drive away, this is a superb holiday location, at any time of the year.
