  • "Wonderful location, close to bars, restaurants and good takeaways."

Beautiful views down to the sea from the Juliet balcony. Great walks, right from the front door. The balcony with its hot tub is a lovely space for socialising and relaxing… even in the rain! The cottage is well equipped, very comfortable and beautifully presented. We had a relaxing and memorable family holiday.

Thankyou for your lovely feedback- it’s a very special place and we’re so pleased you had such a lovely time even in mid Feb! Property Owner

  • "Great location and set up."

Perfect position for sandy beach and local pub/restaurants. £200 a bit rich as a supplement for using hot tub even if this was fun. Dog friendly, outdoor shower invaluable. Very minor complaint was that the fridge was not cold enough and we had to waste some food.

Hello, thank you for your feedback - we are really pleased you had a Good holiday. Chapel house is in a great position halfway down the high Street but still with a Sea view. Apologies about the fridge we will look into this. We offer the Hot Tub as an add-on. Some years ago it was included, but the very high cost of electricity, the extremely high cost of changeovers (this is such a time-consuming business and many companies have given up) plus ongoing maintenance and annual services, annual lid replacement - because of the harsh climate - means this is a loss leader for us …..but an extremely popular addition to the property. We will be needing to change the hot tub again soon and this will be in the region of £ 8 to £10,000. From a purely logistical and financial point of view, it would be much easier for us not to provide a hot tub service…. But we know how many people enjoy this and adds to the holiday. Property Owner

  • "Chapel House is in a great location with views of the very close beach and bay ( 2 minute walk ) from the kitchen’s Juliet balcony upstairs - it being an upside-down house."

The property is thoughtfully decorated throughout and very comfortable, you can see a lot of effort has been put into making it a nice holiday home. It has good facilities and provided plenty of space for our group of 7 aged from 19 to late 70s, who also enjoyed the hot tub out on the decking. The beds were very comfortable. One thing to keep in mind, if you have anyone unsteady on their feet with you, is that between some of the downstairs bedrooms and the hallway/ensuites there are small steps, there are warnings for these but they can catch you out. There was an issue with one of the ensuite showers for the beginning of our stay but this was sorted quickly by the owner who kept us updated. Some of the windows and doors were quite stiff but some WD40 on the hinges, from under the sink, helped us to close/open them! Overall, everyone had a great holiday and Rhosneigr is a great base for a holiday on Anglesey.

  • "Beautifully decorated and equipped and a great location."

We had a small maintenance problem and this was resolved quickly and efficiently. The communication with Sykes Holidays, the owner, Fiona and the cleaner was exemplarly. Special mention to Rachel the cleaner who was very proactive in letting us know about leaving arrangements and laundry and most especially for her help in retrieving a ring I had left accidentally and offering to post it back. What a superstar! One small thing to mention to help others: the step down into the shower room is a hazard in the night - my husband did take a tumble and hurt himself. Not sure what you can do about that however. Beds in the twin room are apparently quite uncomfortable, but all the others were great. We had a lovely week however and would recommend the house and area to others with no hestitation.

Thankyou for your lovely and helpful review. There is a small step down to the en-suite in the ‘ Seahorse’ bedroom and we will replace the ‘ safety warning’ sign as this has obviously gone missing.-we’re so sorry for the tumble. Thankyou again Fiona Property Owner

Sykes and the owners have all the details and photographs, which we have been assured will be addressed. I hope that they take on board all our issues, which will no doubt stop any future complaints. It definitely spoilt the beginning of our three day break booked for a very special occasion.

We thank you again for your feedback and apologise profusely that the house wasn’t to your satisfaction on arrival. This was a great disappointment to us as well and we assure you that we have taken steps to rectify the situation having had an immediate meeting with our Housekeeping team. We are proud of our property and this sort of blip is totally out of character for us. We thank you again for drawing matters to our attention. I know the cleaners came straight back out after your initial call but this should not have been necessary. Sincere apologies again. Emma and Fiona. Property Owner

Beautifully decorated and furnished with a kitchen perfectly equipped with everything needed for a lot of Christmas cooking. The bedrooms were a good size and the beds were really comfortable. Having two cosy lounge areas separated by a dual aspect log burner enabled people to have a bit of quiet if needed. Being a two minute walk from the beach and being able to catch a glimpse of the sea from the kitchen topped off a perfect holiday stay.

Very well equipped, want for nothing, could even shower the 2 dogs outside in warm water and after a day on the beach was well needed. Thanks to the owners who have thought of everything.

  • "Location is superb - you could almost fall onto the beach; it's about a 1 minute walk."

Mojo's (under new management and refurbed from 15/7, Noto's (fab new coffee shop), Sandy Mount House (gorgeous place for a drink/food and Starvation (drinks/snacks/live music) are all within a minute's walk on the same street. Oyster Catcher is a pleasant 20 minute walk across the sand dunes or shorter if you want to walk avoiding the beach. The balcony and table and chairs at the back of Chapel House house are a real sun trap, so even if the wind is blowing off the sea, you are sheltered. Chapel House is equipped with everything you need and more - including towels, buckets and spades for the beach and even a drying room. Having read a previous review, I was concerned about a couple of points that had been rasied, but I needn't have been as the house was spotlessly clean. I think it's important to realise that no rental property is 100% perfect and no matter what the owner does to address issues, they can't be all seeing all-knowing! Things go wrong and break in houses! We had a couple of minor issues - the first was that the zip and link hadn't been zipped in the twin bedroom: However, this was down to Sykes's non-responsiveness, NOT the owners of Chapel House. My experience with the owner was that she was incredibly helpful and super responsive. She went above and beyond to get any niggles or queries sorted promptly and with good grace.

  • "Beautiful property but in need of a deep clean and maintenance."

Seems to only have had a surface clean on our arrival, filthy/Sticky dining table and outside table (black dog hairs!) The sky light on the dining area was covered in cobwebs and the skirtings and shelves were very dusty. The bedding in the bunk room doesn’t seem to have been changed, hairs and dirt on the sheet! The toilets in the main bathroom and main en suite had loose handles which we reported on the morning of Saturday along with the shower that had fallen away from the wall. Very disappointed

Dear Kathryn We are really sorry to hear that you were disappointed with a couple of issues around the house. As regards the sticky table I know this has been mentioned historically in our house maintenance diary for guests to update. This is something most people will come across at some point - it often happens on, for example, pub tables. The surface becomes tacky due to antibacterial products reacting with a hard wax finish. It is clean but just not very pleasant. We are an extremely popular house and very busy, often booked back to back from January to the end of October. However prior to your stay we had blocked off a week in May this year. The house was deep cleaned and repainted. Prior to this a carpenter came out and sanded back the table and the centre unit and resealed both with a diamond hard satin varnish. We were therefore surprised to hear of the stickiness. Our housekeeper has been out today and checked and says there is no stickiness/tackiness on either of these surfaces. I believe we offered to send the plumber out while you were there to sort out the shower but you were happy to use the alternative bathrooms. Loose toilet handles are an annoying on-going issue in holiday let properties but we will of course attend to these. I have reported the cobwebs and dusty shelf to our housekeeper. I think the only high shelves are in the vestry bedroom but these have been attended to, however, apologies for this. I’ve also checked and I’m told that the cleaners wipe the skirting boards weekly but I have insisted that they are very particular about this going forward. I am assured that the bedding was changed and clean but I can only apologise if this wasn’t to your full satisfaction. We use high-quality Egyptian 100% cotton sheets and have a large back up quantity in the utility room so there would be no reason that the bed would not have been changed. There is a telephone number clearly displayed in the house and any of our guests are welcome to pick up the phone to our housekeepers while they are staying if there are any issues otherwise report them immediately to Menai holiday properties so that we can deal with issues during and not after your stay. However we always welcome feedback and thank you for drawing our attention to these issues. We would welcome you back again any time, Kind regards EMMA NICKOLS (Co-owner) Property Owner

4 adults and 5 children and 2 dogs have stayed here very comfortably. The kids have spent most of the week in the hot tub. Rhosneigr beach is great for rock pooling, lots of sea glass and shells. Perfect spot for sunsets and watching the boats. Very comfortable beds and everything you’d need in the kitchen. Asda delivery on the first night but there’s also a well stocked shop on the high street and a good fish and chip shop. Everything within a very short walk away and a great ice cream parlour over the road. A BBQ is also available at Chapel house, a few body boards and buckets and spades. Our week has been amazing, thanks for having us. We all hope to return back soon x

Thank you Amy for your lovely review. Rhosneigr is such a fun place. We are so pleased to hear that you had a great time with your family and dogs and so hope that you make it back to see us again soon. Kind regards Emma Nickols Property Owner

  • "(1) Extremely sticky and unhygienic dining table and kitchen island wooden work surfaces that 'hold' crumbs and other detritus."

This stickiness has been mentioned again and again in the book left by the owners for comments and breakages — from 2020! Where a certain varnish has been used on tables and then a cleaner reacts with it the tables are extremely yuck provoking because of the thought of everything, over the years, that has and is stuck on their surfaces. It is a failing that this has not been dealt with. (2) There needs a deep Spring Clean. The bed's head boards are covered in dust/skin. The mattress cover had hairs on it and had dirty marks too. I had to take anti-histamines because of a reaction to dust and prob dog hairs left about the otherwise beautiful house. (3) The 'stair gate' device has obviously not been working for some time and unfortunately because the bracket had pulled itself out of the wall was unusable. This was inconvenient because we have three dogs and we had to devise a 'gate' by using the ironing board and a clothes dryer. (4) The frying pans need replacing. They are scraped and no longer non-stick and therefore not fit for purpose. The non-stick coating is known not to be a good thing to ingest, food cooked unevenly and produced a repulsive response in myself when I used they because they were so shabby. The cottage is obviously a well designed and whoever did the interior design has made some wonderful decisions that I enjoyed and appreciated. Indeed the style, comfort and design of Chapel House was a joy and a delight. It is the cleanliness and cleaning regime and lack of action on named issues and faults that let the property down. I know we chose and are luckily able to pay for the privilege of staying at Chapel House but it is a premium price and with that cost I expect a certain level of cleanliness. We have to pay extra for each dog to cover cleaning costs too but cannot see how this money is used. We did have a lovely holiday as the weather was amazingly warm and the house is charming.

A really comfortable house in a fantastic location. The hot tub was an extra luxury, appreciated by young and old! The house is well kitted out, making cooking at home really easy. There are places we could all get together - playing Scrabble round the dining table, but also enough room for everyone to go off and do their own thing as well. Lovely friendly and helpful owners - we couldn't have asked for more!

With the kitchen being upstairs and above the master bedroom the floorboards were really loud, not ideal if people in the party either stay up late or get up early. • "Ty Capel is most definitely one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in both in terms of facilities and comfort but also location."

All the bedrooms have double beds (one is slightly smaller but still a double) which for a family of all adults is a must which is one of the reasons we chose this property. The other was the hot tub! There is fantastic living areas on the first floor with great views across the bay and the beach which at sunset are just stunning. The photos in the advert and reality match, which is always something I worry about when booking accommodation. The proximity to the beach, to shops, to restaurants and cafes is excellent and to be honest once you have done a "big" shop you probably don't need a car unless you want to explore the island. The only "negative" point I would make is that there are no additional chemicals left for the hot tub which considering we were there for a week (and we had paid extra for the use) I do think needs to be addressed. Without the appropriate testing equipment and top up chemicals it did concern me that there could be health issues. But this did not in any way distract from our great experience of this house.
